Do not be surprised if this is slightly less a romp than some expect. If we were just going by stats, ND would win by about 40-10. But BC plays a little better at home and surely will be excited to play us. They could score 14; we might score 30. If so, depending on when those scores occur, we could still have a bunch of ledge walkers on IE at halftime. We'll win this game, but we are a real "grinder" of a football team. Maybe that fact, better an ugly winner than a beautiful loser, will make this season even more legendary.

People like lunchbucket teams --- I like us, too.

Devil's Advocate.... any chance we blow it?

I mean, I just thought Pitt was going to be ugly. I think that game served better than any ignore the noise banner... but, could this go bad?

I see BC coming out fired up and keeping it close for a quarter at best. I don't see BC scoring more than seven points and if they do, its because they got a TO deep on our side of the field.

Irish 30, BC 3.

Good news- ND plats A LOT better on the road. I like our chances of imposing our will much more than theirs.

My reasoning for a NO to this...last week. After the scare of last week, I don't think the players will come out flat or looking past anyone...and I KNOW the coaches are not going to let them forget it!

^this

I anticipate this being a statement game in the sense that ND will be making a statement to the BCS poll voters.

Just wanted to pop in and say good luck. We will be going against what may be the nation's worst defense this week. if any of you do ESPN's college challenge, consider putting Landry Jones at QB...

It's on the road, at night, and we should win handily. We are a clearly a road team. BC always plays us tough so it could be a close game, but it comes down to execution. If we execute our gameplan, our starters should get some rest in the fourth quarter.

And you might want to put Teo down for 10 tackles and an INT.

Love that it's a night game in prime time...voters can watch as we demolish these eagles!

BC is a new level of bad.
They give up the second most rushing yards in the country...only better than Eastern Michigan.
BC opponents complete 65.28% of their passes. That's good enough to rank 105th in pass defense

We might want to worry about their 119th rated pass rush..averaging .8 sacks per game.

their Defense is pathetically poor.

Maybe offensively?
122nd in rush yards per game... averaging 63.9
they give up 2.2 sacks per game (83rd nationally)
Ranked 70th in passer rating (128.7)
122nd in 3rd down completion %...27.45%

So they have one of the worst rushing offenses in the country going against the best run defense.

A below average passing attack, one of the worst rush defenses, and a sub-par passing defense.

They are on a different level of "bad" than Pitt. We win by 40+ in prime time and put up 600+ yards (BC give up an average of 513 yards/game already). I wouldnt be surprised if they had negative rushing yards when all is said and done.

Not to sound too cocky, but I'm extremely confident in this one! GO IRISH!

Listening to Irish Illustrated pod cast from yesterday and they mentioned that Boston College's leading tackler outside of Kuechly from last year is out, their best corner is out, all four of their starting d-linemen are injured and will be starting 2 red shirt freshman, they will be likely starting a true freshman running back who averages 1.0 yards per carry.

Yikes, our O Line better make our RBs look like Barry Sanders then.

We need a blowout just to break even this weekend. I know anything can happen in rivalry games, but we should absolutely destroy BC.

Not a fan of running up the score on anyone, but it's the only thing that makes voters give you credibility. Everyone talked about Oregon dropping 70 on Colorado like it was the most impressive thing ever!

No offense to BC, but I hope we run the score up on your asses. I also hope we shut them out...prove our defensive dominance again after only showing up for a quarter last week.

I'm feeling utmost confidence heading into this game. I hope we do not let up the throttle, because voters need to see a lopsided score. Would hate to do it like that to BC, but that be the way the system works.

I agree. I had my doubts about Pitt - I thought it'd be a close one. This game we blow the top off of.

I feel better about this game being an away game...but you have to figure this is going to be BC's bowl game this year. They'll play us tough, I think it'll be closer than people think it should be. I think we'll still win by at least two scores unless theres turnover issues like last week.

UCONN taking it to PITT 17-0 in the second quarter... Baffling.

2009 20 - 16

2010 31 - 13

2011 16 - 14

It's difficult to comfortably expect a certain outcome with the way this year has panned out but with ND away and BC decimated roster wise...

They had their bowl game versus Maine. Maryland was Merry Christmas.

They played Army tough ... holding the Nation's 150th ranked team to under 600 yds of Total Offense, 79 yds passing and only 516 yds rushing.

ND had their "trap game" last week. Rettig ain't Sunseri and they don't have anyone like Graham.

BC is the kind of opponent that most of the Top 25 played to open the season. Golson and Company are going to use the opportunity to work on their numbers, completions percentage, yardage, first downs, touchdowns, sacks ... BC doesn't have anyone that can cover Eifert if Golson can find him. Brown should have a big day if he and Golson can get their timing in sync.

''This game could potentially salvage the season,'' BC linebacker Nick Clancy said. ''I'll never, ever forget that moment if we could knock them off. The question going around is, 'Why not us? If they can do it in 1993, why can't we do it in 2012?

''This is a one-game season, is what we're looking at. This is it, man.''

''I would rather knock Notre Dame out of the national championship than go to the Toilet Bowl,'' said Cleary, another Chicagoan. ''People forget that we played them straight up at their place last year. So nobody's looking at this as some monumental upset. We're looking at this as a football team that we can beat.''
