#ND LB commit Alex Anzalone, "It was nuts. I had to get all of the OT play by plays from my brother at college since we're on the road."

He didn't even stick around until the game ended?

Got it. Again, I apologize. I'll stay away during the games. After reading the posts, I was outta line.

Too many beers and too passionate about the Irish in a bad way.

Sorry fellas

Guys, lets put stuff in perspective here....

Pat and I have got into a wide array of arguments. I have said brutal things to Pat and he has responded in kind to me. That being said, he's my brother. We all have a common tie... And that's a love for our young men that suit up for Our Mother's football team. We all get emotional and express ourselves in a wide array of ways depending on our frame of mind at the moment.

In the spirit of being clear in my personal frame of reference, I am not up to date on his comments during the game, but I will not throw stones at my brother for getting out of line with comments because they are just that.... Emotional comments during a stressful moment in the most polarizing season in decades.

The fact remains, we are undefeated. We are battle tested. We are all riding this train together. So instead of demonizing our brother, lets accept his apology. Because after all, one of the main pillars of the tie we all share with the culture of our beliefs.... Is forgiveness. He has made his peace, look at yourself and make yours.

Pat is a guy that has emotionally invested himself in this team and in us as his brothers.

Go Irish!

And yes, Pat.... You owe me....

We're all emotionally invested...most of us can be emotionally invested without dogging anyone on the team.

Never said it wasn't the mark of a good football team. It wasn't pretty and yes very much as you described but it was still ugly to me. Too many turnovers, too many penalties, a ghost PI call, and a missed 33 yard FG by the PITT kicker when it would have marked game over. Sometimes it's better to be lucky then good. I get it. I acknowledge it.

I saw the box score but it also doesn't tell the whole story IMO.

Agreed.

I will be more then happy to take your approach though. Frankly, just happy to walk out of their with a W. I'm usually a win is a win type of a guy and don't make excuses but it did seem like the flu was running rampant this week.

Curious as to how many guys (if any) would have been left behind if the game was away. (A la GAIII and OU)

100% agreed. I was as frustrated as the next ND fan, but I didn't resort to degrading players and other posters in the process.

Wooly, maybe you should go back and read through the thread before you defend him next time. Go find another cause- this one has no legs.

I have no reason to go back and read his posts. He apologized and admitted his mistake. He said that he learned from it and that it wont happen again. Feel free to throw stones if you please, but I highly doubt anyone on here hasn't done something stupid after too many beers or during an emotional moment.

This University was built on several pillars of values. One of those is forgiveness. If you want to disregard this value because of a personal vendetta, then I am not going to try to stop you. But I believe that it would be bad juju. We build credits in this life based on how you treat people. Pat lost some credits with some of you and I get that. What I don't get is why some of you are so quick to lose credits for yourself by not being strong enough to forgive.

The easy way out is to bash Pat for being a d!ck. The hard thing is to forgive. He made his peace, now its time for some of you to make your own.

Just like Coach Kelly said..."now we have to find a way to beat Pitt"

They did. Congrats ND and on to BC.

Upon further review, No. 2 Chris Brown and No. 2 Bennett Jackson were both on the field when Pitt kicker Harper missed the game-winner.

If the Irish had been flagged (they were called for this against Purdue for double No. 15's), it would have been first down Pitt.

I literally would have cried had this happened... we were all so emotionally invested at that particular point. Can you imagine what would have been said on IE!!!

Ever vigilant Tom Hammond would have been all over that:

"Oh my, Notre Dame has two players on the field with the same number, Chris Jackson and Bennett Brown."

Glad this didn't cost the game.

I gotta admit, this happening once I can say is a mistake or an honest oversight by the staff (or even the players), but happening twice is inexcusable. Don't know what to make of this. It should NOT be happening.

why would you even let 2 players on special teams with the same number? Sounds like a mistake waiting to happen.

Chris Brown isn't normally in on FG defense. Neither is Daniel Smith, who was also in on the play. I am assuming the coaches put those two WRs back there to leap in an attempt to block the kick. In the attempt to get players our there who could get high enough to potentially block the kick, I guess they forgot that Bennett was in there as well with the same #. It is not like they are normally in there together.

Thanks Ironman. I didn't remember see Chris on FG defense before. But didn't know if i just overlooked it.

Still agree with you that you can't let that type of thing happen though. Get Bennett out of there if you want Brown in for that reason. It could have cost us the game.
