Who is Likely Next (2013)

Knee injury. ACL. Not career-threatening though. I believe he's fully recovered now.

We could put him on a medical, but isn't that the sort of shady stuff we condemn SEC schools for doing? Luke is healthy. He's just not that good. I don't know if I'm comfortable with putting him on a medical.

Atta boy coach. I understand you're not comfortable. Especially since this is purely ridiculous speculation.

Hey coach, let us know what Coach Kelly says, will ya? ;)

If Massa's healthy, we'll honor his scholy on this football team. That's completely my hunch.

Damn, I thought for a second you meant Cole Luke's injury and got really said when the next post said ACL.

lol we should be clear, Cole Luke is totally fine. Luke Massa tore his ACL in the spring, but now he too is totally fine, although he is most valuable when wearing a red hat.

fwiw, Wiltfong thinks we have met all of our needs for the 2013 class and should just look for the best available player the rest of the way.

Haha... me too. As soon as Cole committed, I knew this Luke Massa and Cole Luke thing was going to get very confusing. Let's from here on out, refer to Luke Massa as just Massa, and Cole Luke as just Cole. Makes things easier.

Grahambo brings up item of discussion that I have been thinking about just about all year. It would be interesting to see how Floyd and this offense would have been last year had TR not been in the backfield keying in on MF. We all know he does it, so there is no point in arguing that. But Everett spreads it around more and doesn't just stare down Eifert this year. It would be an interesting scenario to run.

If AQM is indeed a silent, then that makes sense. That said, would still lean towards another defensive back, ideally Redfield. Then a big, athletic WR.
As these appear to be the best players available to us at this point, everything seems to be coming together according to plan. Excellent.

If we end with all our guys, and land AQM and Redfield, I will be an extremely happy man.

That would be the perfect class IMO. Playmakers on both sides of the ball. Can't really ask for much more.

And yes, I know all the words to the song courtesy of my 6 and 2 year olds.

I also know all the words to the Spongebob theme song too, but I'm still looking for a post to make that video applicable...

I am going through my mental rolodex of all the recruiting classes since 06' when I started following it. And I think this is the best class we've had IF we finish with redfield and AQM. Top to bottom, offense and defense just a extremely exciting group.

2008 was an absolutely ridiculous class on paper

So after I posted that I went back and looked and 2008 might be better. Stars on both sides of the ball and at all positions. Now some of those never turned into much but at that time, very good.

08, 06, and 03 were all great classes. 08 was sick on paper. Lots of big name 5 star guys. From a paper perspective, if you compare in Scout, we'd need to pick up few more 5star guys. Again, on paper. And Kap was only a 3 star.

Kelly has weaknesses like every human being, but he is the best coach in the country at developing talent. This 13 class will achieve more than any class has in a long time...

I'm on board the BK is a good developer of talent, but to say he is the best coach in the country at developing talent is not a leap that I'm willing to make at this point.

Ouch. I dont know about that one there cowboy. Much as I hate to say it, that dirtbag in Tuscaloosa has the belt on that one.

But with any luck, the new NCAA academic requirements starting 2016 will fix him.

However, Kelly has done a great job no doubt.

Depends on 5th years.

5 fifth years = 1 more scholly available.

4 fifth years = 2 more schollies available.

and so on.

Are you sure? I believe you, not calling you out, but I was under the impression if we take 5 fifth years we wouldn't have any spots left? Hope your right.

Well, are you counting AQM? If so, you are right. I wasn't, though maybe I should. If you count AQM as part of the class, that makes 23/28, leaving room for 0 more frosh if we take 5 fith-years.

If you consider AQM as uncommitted, we are only at 22/28, leaving room for one more frosh in addition to 5 fifth-years.

What five stars are still in play for us? Are any sneaking into the light with our push to #3 in the nation? Inquiring minds want to know.

If slaughter gets his sixth, it could impact wood IMHO.

1.martin
2. Watt
3. Fox
4. Slaughter/wood

Leaves 2 spots for AQM and redfield.

It kind of depends on where you look site wise. IMO, technically it'd only be Treadwell that is still in play but thats a long shot at this point. And I believe he's the only 5 star thats on the board. obvioulsy Mack, AQM, Redfield, and Robinson are great players but not 5 stars at this time
