Brian Hamilton via Twitter:

My guess is a week of bike riding, film watching, and boot wearing. Having Tuitt back and Lynch getting meaningful snaps is big for Ethan right now. Happy to hear its just a sprain!

Sprains are pretty simple injuries.
You really can't hurt it worse by playing on it.
It's basically how much pain you can tolerate.
Although rest (along with a heat/ice rotation) does speed the recovery process.

Agree, though being a senior starter, you know what your going to get from Ethan. No need for him to hurt it again or hinder the healing process. We don't need amy lingering injuries.

We will really need Ethan against Air Force. Some people think it will be a blow out but option teams always keep it close

I think you are way off. Everyone is happy about the win, what do you want us all to sit here and post smiley faces?? I mean I really have no clue what the complaint is, a thread about one of our best defensive players possibly getting seriously hurt after a big win? What the hell does anyone expect one thread about how we are 3 and 2 and just beat a less than average Purdue team with endless smiley faces?

We are all fans and we are happy we did what we were freaking supposed to do for once in the last decade. Great win but it went according to script after our crappy losses to start the season. Our d line has played great, nobody wants to see the d slip up and we know to make this season work we have to beat USC and Stanford not AF and Purdue. I did not even know about this injury as I did not get to watch the very beginning. So to me it is informative and is a great update and topic.

I wasn't complaining about this thread, I was referring to those that were.

This is perhaps our top d-lineman. Of course it's worthy of its own thread.

It's ironic that you quoted dcirish when you responded, as he had to start yet another Rees thread, complaining about his game...

Haha, did he really? He wasn't supposed to do that.

True they are simple injuries, but they can get worse. Sprain is obviously the least concerning but can escalate to a strain or a tear. They are all pretty much the same injury but with varying degrees.

He should be able to play so long as he warms up right and the swelling is minimized. Elevation and heat/ice is so that the blood does not collect to reduce swelling.

Not a good thing, but it DID get Kona and Hafis in the game, and they are not chopped liver.

I think he will play on saturday. He was walking under his own power so that means it probably isn't that bad of a sprain. He is probably getting it treated right now as we speak.

A high ankle sprain disabled Riddick for several games last year, and apparently really slowed his development. And he has been pretty much a non factor this year so far.
A high ankle sprain makes the whole ankle unsteady and cannot be played on. Activity makes it worse and is likely to cause secondary damage. I hope this is not the type he had.

We should find out more today at the press conference. I hope someone ask about Danny Spond and if he is ready to see the field again.

In a walking boot until Thursday. Won't know more until they take it off and see how he feels.

BK confident in Aaron and Stephon. Both will play Saturday.

Kelly was asked in his press conference if the bye week coming up makes any difference in how he is treating EJ's injury. Kelly couldn't help but smile and say , "Ooh it factors, it definitely factors." Sounds to me like EJ will be playing knowing he has a whole week he can rest and treat the ankle.

Was reported that EJ was very limited today at practice but that his able looked good, and would need no further treatment. Currently a game time decision. IMO he plays with an extra week before USC for more treatment.

He is BIG loss for today. Playing AF is all about assignment football. I am hoping that we go 4 man front with KLM, Cwynar, Nix in the middle.
