Actually, Dshans is one of the most intelligent guys on here and not only has a ton to add from a football standpoint, but also one of the funniest posters as well. You may not like him, but speak for yourself, because besides you and a few other grammatically impaired newbs he is beloved by the board.

Not trying to pick a fight with you, homeboy. But Dshan deserves more respect than he is currently receiving. It takes more than recruiting insight to gain Dshan stature.

You know I am glad you got the balls to call me out in front of everyone but than I send you a pm and you put your tail between your legs. I am not a newb you know that so come up with something better. I don't need to be respected to feel good about myself on a message board. If a 60 year old wants to call me out for a grammar error than by all means. But like I said homeboy not trying to pick a fight you read my Pms so if you have anything else you know how to get ahold of me. Btw dshans stature I respect the dude but he likes to start people up. Check the awards from last year the people spoke on how much they respect me.

Don't care what anyone else says or what their IE status is or how many posts they have, correcting grammar on an Internet message board is fukking stupid. If you're offended by poor grammar then get your whiny *** off of the Internet. Isn't this website supposed to be about ND football? It's one thing if someone is constantly misspelling players names, I can understand correcting that. But seriously, when someone messes up their, there, and they're, is it really that big of a deal to you? Is your head so far up your own *** that you can't figure out what they mean? Get over yourselves(self).

For a guy that continuously tells me to "hit the ignore button", you sure send me a lot of Pm's and responses. It's funny how you want us to ignore you, don't care if you're an insider and aren't looking for respect but immediately prove to us otherwise through your actions (see nddomer's post). I don't answer your Pms because they are all retarded. That's my reasoning for not responding, because I thought that if I simply quit responding, then you would quit acting like a crybaby. I guessed wrong.

For the record, I was done with this thread until you dogged my boy, dshans. You could have let all of this go.

What once was Chris Hawkins' thread but now has to do with hammers

I find it funny that the only people that don't like Dshan's corrections are the people that can't spell.

The Grammar-Hammer has been part of the style of this place longer than any of the haters too. Just sayin'....

Well, I know how to spell, and I taught grammar for years. And the dshans posts on grammar (and the grammar police on any board for that matter) are annoying as hell. It's one thing when I guy (or gal) has a post that is unreadable, but quite another when someone has a typo or is writing too quickly to notice that he typed 'your' instead of 'you're'. Or some people just don't bother to care, and if you understand the message, isn't that the point of message boards?

And then, as mods, we come home to threads like this, which turn into pissing contests over friggin' grammar. This is a recruit's thread, so it should obviously be a no-no to correct grammar and get the thread off-topic, but some posters never listen no matter how many times you tell them (in my own twisted mind, I didn't delete the posts because it's a USC commit and I can't stand USC, so his thread is whatever to me).

Just saying though, it's not just non-spellers that don't like the grammar police...

The funniest thing is dshans sarcastically corrected cackalacky who later responded he didn't care yet all this other crap broke out.

I say the most important lesson here is if it doesn't involve you stay out. Myself included on this.

Does this work if the word doesn't include all the necessary letters?

And you wonder why Justin Verlander is unhittable, yeah that's right. That's his girl. On another note, if you don't like DShans posts, use the ignore option and lighten the hell up, he means no harm.

I heard that she recently got drunk and gave David Freese a BJ....

I've been called out by dshans and I've always thought it was funny. Maybe it's just me but his responses always make me LOL.

Yeah, I've always taken dshans corrections as more tongue-in-cheek than as him being a jerk....

Some are a bit more sensitive than others though

I don't mind so much that dshans is trolling you guys about your grammar and I don't mind that you guys are reacting to it, but for the sake of our more casual readers, let's keep this thread on-topic so they don't have to wade through pages of this stuff.

If you so value hyperbole, I am surprised to see you don't appreciate more my calling your behavior trolling. Also, language is decidedly not clarity in action, but an imperfect tool by which we attempt to approximate and communicate ideas, as I shall now show.

You take issue with your behavior being categorized as trolling. Trolling, as I mean to use the term, is associated with provoking an emotional response and otherwise disrupting on-topic conversation. You know or should know how emotional posters can get when you give them the "hammer," and there should be no doubt that conversations are disrupted by these sorts of posts (see, e.g., half this thread). What you seem to be conflating with the term trolling is less innocuous behavior. This would be, however, wrong; I find your posts generally innocuous and fair for the board. This doesn't make them any less trolling.

As you can see, the imprecision of language has led me to solicit your liberally punctuated post and now, after my little essay, has led you to solicit this excessively verbose response that further moves this thread away from the topic at hand. (Now we're trolling each other). Not a ringing endorsement for the clarity in language, eh?

Not conflating again. Can't we escape this word?
