Seantrel Henderson still plays for them and is a starter. Saw him this weekend vs NCST. He has been a disappointment, was involved in a car accident during the preseason. He ran a red light and slammed into a car, ejecting the young girl through the windshield. If you google it you will find it. Pretty crazy and aweful if you ask me.

It doesn't make any difference by how much we win this game. Almost every element of this game points to a Notre Dame win. That "scoring outburst" by Miami vs NCState was thanks to 6 turnovers in one half I believe, and Miami barely held on to get to the final gun. If we contain Duke Johnson. especially on returns, and whoever they played last did, they'll have a really difficult time scoring --- they HAVE to hit big plays, which is exactly what Bobby-the-D doesn't allow.

Our guys are rested and ready to roll. We still don't like the Miami thug attitude as far as I can tell, plus Manti will still be a fiery motivated man.

The only question is whether we will win big or small, and that's entirely on the offense, especially Everett and the line --- who I expect to be very angry men this week after taking a lot of crap.

Concerning the Miami Whackjob: it's too bad that a good Miami fan didn't show up. We have much valued interactions with guys like the Michigan and Florida guys who dropped in. But the remark that such a inane individual, as we just fielded, gives one despair about the future of the society: that's not a problem. Persons with as many overt defects as that fellow rarely are able to reproduce. Nature weeds out its failures.

Early odds according to ESPN's plethora of betting sites is around -13.

Just an FYI.

NCAA College Football Odds and Daily Lines - ESPN

Thanks for the link. The reason it didn't show up when you posted it is because you have under 10 posts, and to keep spam and bots somewhat under control, we have a system that blocks links from new members until a mod approves it. So I approved it and you're good to go. Thanks again!

I'm talking football. Now get the ADD under control and join the conversation.

No you're not. You came in here like a moron and immediately started talking sh!t. Are all you Miami fans (all 12 of you) this stupid? Can't any of you:

A. Speak English.
B. Come on here like a normal human being and talk football without sounding like a complete and utter waste of human life???

Like I told the other Miami thug/loser/moron...go ahead and run to your boys and brag about how you got banned by an Irish site and that we have thin skin and you really got us good LOL. None of it is true of course, but then again, not one of your 23 posts horrible posts spoke the truth anyways, so who cares right?

Truth is, this just isn't the site for that crap. We'd rather talk football, and we don't deal with loser trolls who have NOTHING better to do with their lives than act like the waste of life that they are. So call the one Miami fan who has a brain and tell him to join us here if he wants to talk about the game. Other than, I know I'll see you under a different name until we ban your IP address, cause that's what losers like you always do. And since you haven't had an original thought this entire thread, I expect you to be unoriginal and show up again and again...

Oh yeah, and I want extra pepperonis on my pizza, thanks.

Agreed.

The funny thing is, oftentimes fans of other teams come on IE and post. When they are polite and want to talk football there is often great conversation and a lot of insight to be gained. Unfortunately, coming on here and acting like preteen is going to get you banned.

Had you come on and said something like, "Hey Miami fan here, wanted to talk about the game and your thoughts" everyone would have indulged you. But obviously that isn't what you were looking for so this post is pointless.......

I can't believe the lack of support Miami is getting from their fan base at home games! Unreal, either the fans are irritated by the scandal or the ticket prices are ridiculous. Sad for such a historically good team indecent or not.

Now onto the game! Very excited to see kick off in kick off for this one! From what I saw in the NC State game, Miami has plenty of good athletes at WR and that Duke is pretty special. Not very impressed with their O-line as State was able to get a fair amount of pressure on Morris. That has me optimistic! Other than that I didn't see much else stand out but they are still 4-1 and they have a pretty good coach so it could get interesting. All in all if the D keeps playing the way they have to start the year we should be ok but I think Miami gets a couple scores through the air but I also think our ever improving secondary makes a couple big plays and GA3 or Wood or both really step up! I'm calling 27-14 for the good guys!

He is not a starter but rotates in. Not much of a drop off if any when he subs in. He is in Golden's doghouse.

Miami has the definition of a bandwagon fanbase. 90% of the "fans" they had back in the 80's probably root for Florida or FSU, now.

This game does worry me for a couple reasons.

1) As LAX said, they do have athletes up and down their roster.
2) I think most are putting way too much stock into us fixing problems during bye week. We only had two work days and the team knew they were getting the weekend off. I remember one of our bye weeks coach told us after the win the week prior that we were getting the next weekend off we had a terrible well if practice because everyone was wireless about making plans and partying. The next year he never mentioned anything, rode our *** all week then told us end of practice Thursday we had weekend off. Won huge the next week against a rival.
3) Although we have played in Yankee stadium, FedEx Field, and Ireland, none of those locations hold the FOOTBALL significance that Soldier Field does. It is ready to get caught up in the moment.

Now I still think we are the better football team by a long shot, as well as being better coached, and that will allow us to pull out the victory. I kiddy expect it to be ugly like Purdue and scUM.

This thread really shows how little you guys know about the team you are about to face. I don't mean that as smack talk, I'm probably equally ignorant about your team. A few non-gameday points

1) Miami is not "soccer fans and senior citizens" maybe the senior citizen part was true fifty years ago but it certainly isn't now. I think there are soccer fans everywhere, but Miami is not a soccer city at all.

2) Miami fans are not "bandwagon" fans. Period. No-one down here switches allegiance. We may get sick of our teams performance at times but we will ALWAYS love them. Switching teams to FSU or Florida would probably get you into serious heat down here.

On to football and what I see about this game.

1) Your inept offense is facing our inept defense. The one thing our defense can do is force turnovers. They are always going to try and strip the ball or put a helmet on it. Also they don't seem to get discouraged even when they are playing poorly.

2) Our extremely capable offense is going against your extremely capable defense. Your front seven against our offensive line will be the key to the game. Our offensive line has been dominant (including S. Henderson regardless of what a previous poster said. He obviously has no clue about our team) and we have great depth as well. We like to rotate guys in to keep them fresh and there is no drop-off in production.

Your secondary is suspect in our opinion and if you give Morris all day to throw he is going to torch you alive with deep passes. I have never seen a guy more accurate on the deep ball with consistency, Lucky for you, that accuracy doesn't translate to short routes. He will hit a guy 65 yards down field in stride but throw a screen pass into the ground or over his receivers head out of bounds. It's baffling.

3) I don't know about your special teams. Duke Johnson is a threat to bring every kick back. Along with his big returns there have been two or three where he was stopped early only a shoestring tackle away from breaking a huge one. Your coverage team on punts and kickoffs will be huge as Dorsett is also a threat to bring it back to the house on every punt.

It should be a pretty good game.

Overall good post talking X and Os is welcome at IE. Thanks.

I agree Duke is special and he is a concern.

I don't agree that Morris will have the time in the pocket for his long accurate passes.

Are secondary has been a concern all year however they have stepped up so far, so i am not really sure you can call it suspect.

Miami fans are not bandwagon? Just a question...then why all the empty seats? Many teams including ND have had their tough years however the stadium has been full. Just an observation.

Yeah OK that is total BS. You've only played one even remotely legit team and your OL sucked. 40 yards on 29 carries. 1.3 yards per rush. That sucks. If you think that is dominant, then what is Alabama's OL? Godly? Herculean? Physics defying? I could give a sh*t if they pushed around Bethune Cookman.

Your secondary is suspect in our opinion and if you give Morris all day to throw he is going to torch you alive with deep passes. Cool, so you're allowed to have unfounded opinions but apparently we're not. They've given up a total of 3 passing TDs all year, and are picking off 2 passes per game... which is just about tops in the country... only trailing Mississippi State, TCU and Fresno State. They are one of the top rated units overall in the entire country.

The only thing I agree with you on here is that without Jamoris Slaughter the youth could lead to some coverage breakdowns.

3) I don't know about your special teams. Duke Johnson is a threat to bring every kick back. Yeah OK well Kyle Brindza can kick the ball out of the endzone with good conditions.... so you better pray for cold, wind, and rain for that to even be a factor. On punts we just shank them out of bounds or punt them straight up in the air.

I think you say decent and somewhat valid points, with the exception of the oline being dominant. Ya'll have not played a single dline and LB corp even close to NDs. My experience at the GT game, where the oline did play well ironically, I saw so much bickering and finger pointing that ridiculous, particularly with #74 who I think was at tackle. I see that bickering as a sign of a line, when faced with a challenge like NDs pass rush will fold. That and early struggle with Bethune Cookman.

To summarize, I am far more concerned about Duke taking a screen pass or run to the house than a KR. But with our linebackers.... it's going to take slick conditions or a completely blown assignment (hopefully) for him to get to the second level with blockers + room to run. All in all, as I've said many times I think it's going to be very hard to hold Miami under 17 points. This is the kind of vertical passing attack where a quarter-second hesitation by a young guy = wide open receiver down the field. Or a blown assignment by Farley or slow Zeke Motta = safety not getting to a spot in time. I'll be shocked if they drop 40+ but not too surprised to see ~24 or maybe even more.

But the only thing that should really scare people is their defensive players deciding to have an "up" game. They have so many 5:s: style guys on that roster... what if Hamilton decides to have a breakout game on the DL? What if Tracy Howard has a coming out party? That's what should terrify people. Because if we're able to lineup and run at these guys (i.e. our OL got its **** together in the bye week) like every other crappy team has... there's really no way we should end up below 28.

BC sucks. GT sucks. NC State sucks. All of those teams moved the ball AT WILL. But the problem is we're Notre Dame... so we always get a team's best. ND guys need to show up and execute. Looking at you Golic, Lombard, Niklas, Koyack, Martin, Cave, Golson. Time to step up.

#74 is a local true frosh. Most likely feels entitled to play.

I'll be glad when this game is over, hopefully with a win, here's why:

1- Coming back from a bye week where players left campus. After weeks of being focused on football, getting out of the atmosphere is restful but it can be difficult to get back in the competitive mindset, at least to the level before the break. A team can lose its timing. Kelly will have his work cut out getting them focused, possibly.

2- Miami is clearly better than we expected. Yea we can downplay the competition but they are still 4-1. They also have athletes that can make plays. This will be the first team we've played this year with this much athleticism and a couple of plays can make a difference.

3- Our offense. I would expect them to be better but this may be the first game we need to score points. Hope not, but whether it's this game or the next 7, our offense is going to have to show up and produce at some point. Saturday would be a good start.

4- The Sun Bowl. We caught a Miami program that was in disarray. Not their best moment. Maybe it's not relevant to this team, who knows, but if I'm a Miami player I would remember it. Good reason to have a chip on my shoulder.

5- Getting to take a Top Ten program down. Sweet under any condition but especially for a program on the edge of severe penalties.

6- Their offense's biggest strength goes into the teeth of our least experienced group.

7- #1 again. Really a place for the team to show what it's made of.

I'll just take a win, I don't care the score.

All good points. This game is not going to be the cakewalk some seem to expect. If nothing else, top to bottom they're the most athletic team we've played yet. We will need to score some points. But somehow I don't think Morris will be able to sit back in the pocket all day like against NC State.
One question: How many guys from that Sun Bowl team are still at Miami?

Just wondering if anyone has awesome tailgate plans for the game? Never been to Soldier Field and I'm traveling with just my girlfriend, so we have no plans to tailgate on our own. We usually make it to South Bend twice a year and find some friends that have season tix, but they won't be in Chicago so we'll be searching for an ND tailgate with open arms.

Also, did I miss a "role call" thread for this subject matter?
