I was hoping someone else could shed light.

Alas, we've been twitterfused*.

I feel like Sheldon needs a t-shirt now that says.. "Go ahead, make my Day." And Kap needs one that says.. "You want Moore?"

Undersized for a DT. Context.
That is not undersized for a one-gap tackle. If Tuitt plays two-gap technique it is as an end, and there's probably not another two-gap DE in college football right now with Tuitt's size, strength and athleticism. He's got basically the same body as a young Richard Seymour.

McShay, once again, has no idea what he's talking about.

Didn't say he is smart. Tuitt is not a DT, also called Shembo a DE, but there are other things to complain about that were actually said.

He did say that ND has the best front 7 outside the SEC.

Just so no one assumes that Stephon's tweet must be something bad, I'm using my imagination to think: he's looking for an off-campus project [the local farm thing], thought that he had a partner lined up to help him with the class paper etc, and the guy backed out. I know nothing real about this and only place it out there to indicate that it's a big complicated world, and most knee-jerk reactions are part ignorance of facts and part lack of imagination. I look forward to seeing him in uniform, in the Michigan backfield, and in-credible.

Todd McShay called Tuitt "undersized" tonight on ESPN.

True story.

in the clip of McShay talking about how impressive our defense was we were in a 4 man front w/ Tuitt lined up as DT and shembo had his hand down coming off the edge as a DE.. so in this clip i think what McShay was trying to do was pump our def up even more because he said "even though he is undersized as a DT look at how he just overpowers his man and sacks the qb" i hate mcshay as much as the next person but he wasn't trying to put anyone down or anything....i am not sure if he was saying it this way because the casual fan would have no idea what kind of def scheme we run and we were lined up as a 4 man front or is it a reflection on his lack of knowledge of our def...idk don't care! we kick @ss

Yeah I heard that last night. 300 pounder called undersized! Over tall for DT maybe but undersized? You have to admit Tuitt looks about as slim as a 300 pounder can look so maybe McShay was just guessing weight off the footage and was too lazy to actually look up our roster.

Granted our D-line has not been anything to brag about for years but 300 pounders have been kind of rare, even at DT. Ian Williams wasn't much over 300 most of his career here, Trevor Laws may have never broke 300 and that is with 10 pounds of hair. Someone more knowledgable could talk about some of the relative midgets we have had manning that spot the last few decades or how other teams lack mass in major conferences.

Overall a very ignorant statement to make unless someone weighs less than 280 or 270 in a two DT line.

Before someone lambasts me, yeah Laws was a DE but I'm trying to think of any D-lineman that have been over 300 lbs recently.

Calling a 300 lb. DT undersized is getting a little crazy, even by NFL standards. It doesn't stand out anymore, but its certainly not small. Its closer to the new average, but, once you get up near that size, speed is so much more important that a few pounds in either direction doesn't really matter.

Now if we are talking pure NTs, he'd have a point.

However, I doesnt' sound like he was doing anything but compliment Tuitt, so I am not going to criticize.

If Lane Kiffin calls you a nice guy it really is meaningless. Making such a silly comment undermines any credibility McShay is trying to bring to the discussion.

Nit picky, maybe. But I think it is a good example of ESPN really not having a clue about ND and trying to catch up to what is reluctantly relevant to college football this weekend (and the next few years as Tuitt is obviously going to spend a lot of time on our highlight reels for at least the next two years).

ND is better off without Tuitt anyway. He wasn't Irish material. Not a RKG. Let's face it, he wasn't that good anyway. I mean, he goes to an all-star game and only has one sack and a few tackles <-------- Loser. ND will be a better school without Stephon Tuitt. I predict championships for Notre Dame in 2011-2019.

Haha! Been bored today, and I was just looking through this thread from when he decommited and found this gem. ND would definitely have been better off without Tuitt. Everything is fine now obviously, but I still love reading the butt-hurt knee-jerk reactions out of fan bases after a recent decommit. This comment is comical to say the least.
