I know this isn't very reliable input, but I think we're due, typically over the past 10 years there's no way we would have beat Purdue last week. We would have found a way to turn the ball over on the last drive, or lose it in OT, that didn't happen for once and I think our team is probably realizing that things may actually fall in favor to us this year.
On a separate note, Bell is definitely going to be a burden for us on defense, though watching the Boise state game, I wasn't entirely in awe when watching MSU's offense. Now I know that was the first game of the season, but they played an overrated Boise State team, who had a completely new defensive line, who did fairly well against MSU's oline and the running game if you take in the fact that this was their first time playing as a dline unit. I was extremely optimistic with the Purdue game and it turned out to be a lot closer then I thought, but I'm going to stay optimistic again with MSU, because I feel they still being a good team, the game will come down to the trenches, and even though our oline struggled last week, I think we will see a large improvement in their coverage. Kelly said in the post game press conference that they were going into that game blind, their defensive coordinator from Purdue had been coaching in Canada, and they had zero film to prepare with. With us playing MSU every year and having two solid games of film, I see us having a much better advantage in this one. I mean I honestly think defensivly, we are much better this year than last year (even with our secondary being a little shakey) and we handled business with them. Now I know we play away and MSU is always tough, but I think with our added weapon of Golson, it's going to be very difficult for MSU to stop us defensivly. Tommy they could sit back and wait for the pass, after Golson's step and juke move that he put on the outside LB and CB blitz, where we shook both of them and took off the other way, that adds another dimension that MSU's defense will not be ready for, nor have they faced anyone with the arm and legs like Golson this year.
And am I the only one who thought Golson had a hell of a day last week against Purdue. With all the pressure and the praise for the Purdue CB's, he didn't throw one interception, he threw the ball twice as much as he did the week before, he ran the bell well (Minus the good play of their cb pulling the fumble out). I think he deserved a helmet sticker from Lou last week but he didn't. He has improved drastically from week one to week two. I mean the first couple drives of the game all we did was throw the ball and complete passes. Week 3 were going to be much more prepared offensively, and defensively I think we have a better showing than we did against Purdue.
