Not that this has anything to do with Everett, but I believe that neither of Manning's interceptions could be clearly laid at his door. The first was a great play by a jumping D-Lineman with a deflected ball downwards right to surprised hands. The second was due to a scared receiver who gator-armed his non-effort.
The POSSIBLE relevance of this to Everett is:
A). we need to be more "understanding" of him when such things happen than we were with Tommy last year. At least SOME of the turnovers were not his fault, but people who scream perfection while leading hypocritical imperfect lives themselves [under far less stress] wanted him dead after every bad play. We cannot be loading Everett or Andrew up with such intolerant viciousness.
B). Coach has very good reasons to continue to sweat out his starting QB decision. Manning's interceptions demonstrate a subtlety which escapes many. You are going to get improperly functioning plays if you don't REALLY know your teammates. Peyton did not know that receiver well enough to know that he wouldn't "lay it out there", regardless of the coming hit, on that pass down the middle. Different guy makes the catch, or at least gets a hand on it. Tommy knows the receivers [some of them] better than Everett or Andrew. This is why it's important for Everett and Andrew to get [almost] all the reps with the ones and twos. Peyton [at Indianapolis] might even have known which of his linemen were great at cutting down the "jumpers" so that he didn't have to worry about slinging it through certain windows. ND might have some guys who tend to manhandle the other guys so ferociously that they can't get stable enough to jump [Cave and Watt?]. Only playing with them will give you that unconscious piece of your reaction-game.
