Golson scrambling out of pressure and hitting a cutting Neal streaking across the field is going to **** off a lot of Defensive Coordinators for the next few years.

There is going to be a lot of "art" this year between Golson, Riddick, and Neal, and a lot of "science" with Golson, Eifert, and Wood.

I just watched the highlights+information video [which seems now to work just fine], and lots of things were impressive of course. One thing that [strangely?] I liked the best was that he can come off the edge and block a kick. I believe that we really miss not having threats at that task --- on punts that will bend defenses out of shape and rush punters. THAT might get us some poorer punting by opponents allowing some run-backs [yes I know he can't both block them and field them at the same time, but we need great speed and athleticism off the edge --- somebody of our new studs should do that.]

Would have helped during the BC game last year. Their punter was sticking us inside the 10-20 the entire game. It was incredibly frustrating. Good spot on the film.

Mike,

As your post goes on your point becomes crystal clear. This is one of the things we need to become a championship team! How astute of you! Your posts become better and better, and you are in a league of your own. I tried to defend you when they called you Jim Vance Hatfield.

They??? It was just me- haha! Jim Vance was the oldest dude in West Virginia depicted in the series...so I naturally assumed it COULD be OMM. That's feasible, right??

Them Thar Hatfields Wuz Anglishers and Yellow-Bellied Cheats and Scoundrels --- ask anybody with any sense a'tall. And ol' missus Hatfield, she wuz the worse --- face that could freeze squirrels and a rump two axe-handles wide. She wuz a one, that one. Sum folk like that HOG hereabouts claim I had sumpthin' to do with this ruckus but although I wuz thereabouts, ain't no truth to it not nearly. And HOG, we Coys know where yuh live... just mentionin' it.

Now that there Davonte Neal person, he seems a lot nicer folk than the HOG, mild mannered and runs faster than a Hatfield with a Coy on his trail. Smart too --- never get in this sort of hill folk ruckus --- it wuz mainly a hullabillusion anyways.

Awesome. It is both a skill and an art.

You know that feeling you get in your stomach when you get kicked in the nuts? Yeah, that's how I feel when I see this thread pop up.

I like the kids confidence though. We'll see if he's right.

I hope he plays punt returner too

I have been an advocate of him playing CB if it's for the better of the team but there is no denying his skills with the rock in his hands, so either way I'm cool

Is Davonte on campus for summer classes? I thought I remembered him saying that he would be taking classes this summer, but I may be mistaken.

azcentral.com blogs - Richard Obert - Richardobert - Neal ready for life at Notre Dame

Sounding more and more a like a really good fit. Excited he's coming! And THANKS Michael Floyd!

Can't wait to see Davonte play. Kid knows what's up:

Neal’s first game will be Ireland, where Notre Dame will open the season against Navy.

“It’s going to be fun,” he said, “but it’s a business trip. We have to go up there and handle business. We know we have a game to play up there. We’re not going to get too sidetracked on, ‘It’s Ireland.’ ‘’

Neal looks forward to the national spotlight that is Notre Dame football.

“It is exciting, but everyone knows TV can be a distraction,” he said. “You’re not so much playing for the TV, but you’re playing for the alumni and coaches and your teammates. But it’s going to be exciting that everyone in Arizona will get to see me play, everyone in Ohio will get to see me play. But ultimately I’m focused on going out there and working and winning games.”

So his birthday is June 16. Hmmm. What is that three or four birthdays in a week or so among 14 recruits?
