Wants to wait until August to announce per 247

Not good, if you think about the latest info that had him on the verge of committing. But in all reality, the same timeline he's had all along. Still, I'm dismayed by this latest information. Almost feels like he's scaling back his excitement or something.

He's teasing us now...

“@JaeeSmiff9ENT: Irish--- and Trojans have the most guys drafted in the 1st round in history”

And why I love Corey Robinson

“@CoreyRobinson13: @JaeeSmiff9ENT man if you put in the work, you'll get there. Know that we really want you at #NDnation . Great opportunity playing on NBC”

If this were anybody else, I'd say they were looking for a reason not to commit to ND. It's not anybody else though so I won't say that.

I think there's a good chance he commits to ND, just not sure he ends up signing with them.

I'm going to have to disagree. I don't think Jaylon is the type of kid to flip, otherwise, he would have committed to ND already. He's taking his time, weighing his options, and then will commit and sign with Notre Dame.

He may be a good kid and I hope he signs with ND. I find it interesting he's tweeting about the players ND and USC have put into the NFL. USC is probably already telling him you can come here and be a 1st round pick. Around December and January coaches like Meyer and Kiffin will be pulling out all the stops to get him to flip.

Right around December/January there will be mock drafts with Manti Te'o being a top ten pick in the 2013 NFl draft, and that's more powerful than any LB crap Kiffin and Meyer can spew.

This. And regardless, Jaylon doesn't seem like someone swayed by that nonsense. And you can for damn sure bet that ND will not slip on this recruitment. There's a reason BK is personally in charge of this one and you can just imagine what that conveys to Jaylon.

His family knows the recruiting game well. SC will recruit him just like Urban has been doing, which bodes well for ND, IMO.

The only question I have, and its the same question already made on here. If Jaylon is such a big ND lean and has been rumored to be close to committing, why not pull the trigger unless something just isn't right? He has been to ND probably as much or more than any other recruit or commit. What would be holding him back unless ( I think someone else mentioned) he is looking for an excuse not to commit? Maybe his dad wasn't that impressed when he went along with Jaylon on his 1st trip. The mom does carry some weight but in the end I don't think Momma Smith's desires are the end all be all. (see momma lynch) And one more concern/paranoia, the whole throwing USC into the mix has got me thinking the Tee situation with the picking the name from a hat crap. I hope this truly is me being paranoid but it is only May, no sense in getting to worked up now.
I hope he's Irish come signing day!

Stop looking for what you think is wrong with the recruiting process of an individual. Instead, allow him the respect of doing things on his own for his own reasons regardless of what we may or may not think.

There seems to be a lot of conflicting information out there right now. On 247, it makes it sound like he is wide open considering ND, USC, and OSU and wanting to take more visits. Based on what everyone else has been saying on here, he should be an ND lock. I guess we'll have to wait and see how this all plays out.

I voiced my opinion not that I think he is going about it the wrong way either. I personally think the race is more a wide open race than people might think (like lax said), especially on here. I have not disrespected him or the process in any way.

Drama and nd recruits have not been good for us. I am still optimistic, but ....ah it May. I think Kelly doesn't want a committ unless he is beyond certain.

Read the SC 247 article...
Basically what is happening is he is talking to all these guys like Ty Isaac, Su'a Cravens, Michael Hutchings, and others who are putting the bug in his ear to come and check out USC. He sees what they are building in this class and he likes it. The June visit will go a long way in determining what ultimately happens.

If he doesn't decide before August which he still said he is planning on doing as of now then his first OV will be to USC.

I also have the sneaking suspicion that this same type of scenario will play out for Vernon Hargreves as well. Everyone expects him to go to UF or USF but I have always been leary of USC getting him.

Lifted from SI.com:

Despite the negative trend, however, Meyer still has several top options on the board. Indianapolis (Ind.) Warren' s Tim Kimbrough has made no secret of his affinity for Ohio State, and the program appears to be the frontrunner to land Fort Wayne's (Ind.) Jaylon Smith. Though discouraging now, the Buckeyes' linebacking weakness could soon become an area of strength.

Yuck....

Totally bogus. Bleacher Report tried to say the same thing. In fact, that is probably where they got there info. Since when does SI cover recruiting? IMO it is really between ND and SC.

i guess we'll just have to sit and be patient...after all he is going about the process exactly how he said that he would so we'll hav to trust that he makes the right decision in the end.

That article was written "ByRivals.com staff, Special to SI.com." I'm not arguing the validity of what the article says, but figured it was worth mentioning since Rivals was the contributor, and not those other clowns.

For the sake of the Notre Dame fan suicide numbers, I hope he signs with the Irish.

I don't want to be around these boards for the meltdown mode if he chooses another school.

SI has THE WORST recruiting news/trade news out of really any site on the internet. Its kind of sad, ive actually emailed them telling them they need to update those sections because some of them are soooo off

If he does, it will be like one of those Gamefly commercials around here
