YES!! So happy that we got him. Will help tremendously in the bullpen.
Huh?
Eh meant to say our pitching/lineup/whatever, you know what I mean lol
Haha fair enough. Now I hope he is more Yu Darvish than Kei Igawa.
Better put him on a six day rotation. Like most Japanese pitchers he will be fading by September.
In four appearances (three starts) this spring, Pineda went 2-1 with a 1.20 ERA. He did not allow an earned run until this past Sunday after throwing 13 scoreless innings, and struck out 16 batters in 15 innings, walking just one.
Although he took the loss to the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday, his performance convinced the Yankees to add him as the fifth starter in their rotation, behind CC Sabathia, Hiroki Kuroda, Masahiro Tanaka and Ivan Nova. Pineda will make his first regular-season start on Saturday, April 5 against the Blue Jays in Toronto.
Girardi said the Yankees consider Pineda fully recovered.
"I think in the back of your mind you always worry long term about a guy that's had an injury like he's had," Girardi said. "But short term he looks great. I'm not saying I expect him only to make it a month, two months. I'm expecting him to pitch the whole year for us."
Girardi said Pineda would not be under an innings limit this season.
Two of the other contenders for the spot, David Phelps and Adam Warren, will make the team as relievers; the fourth, Vidal Nuno, may be added to the bullpen as well.
Yeah Jeets!
You know about, yeah Jeets?!

Don't really see this team doing anything. CC needs to be better and with Tex out, that lineup is borderline cringe worthy. Still think they shoulda thrown the money at Cano, but what do I know?
Ehhh I don't know about that team prediction. Definitely shouldn't have tried to beat Seattle's offer for Cano, that thing is going to look awful in about 6 years. 310 mil? We learned the hard way about those contracts with ARod. As for the team, the lineup isn't great (but with Gardy- Ellsbury - Healthy Jeter - McCann - Beltran - Solarte? it's really not awful) and the pitching has the potential to be outstanding. Tanaka-Pineda as 4-5?? They would be 1-2 for most teams.
You never know, but there has to be at least some optimism for this team. It's vastly improved over last year.
