Iran getting dominated but have had two better chances than Argentina on their only two chances. If Argentina gets one I think they can pour it on.

thy was so a penalty. Argentina lucky AF!

In normal speed that looks as clean as they come. Just a good challenge. But when it was slowed down from that other angle I definitely agree.

Why is messi so average for his national team??

Idk. If I had to describe Argentina as a whole I would say they are feckless

Read an article today about England's poor performance and the premise was that the EPL players are more concerned with making their millions and much less concerned with national soccer. Don't really know if that is accurate but it's like what is said about US Olympic basketball... they just don't exert the same effort as they do in their professional games.

I could see that but also sounds like Englishmen coming up with excuses as for why their national team is super average now.

It's a good bet. Like I have said before they should have a united team for the WC like they do the Olympics. However Roy Hidgson should not be allowed to coach anymore. He has no ability to adapt or change tactics. Ultimately this along with poor back line play did them in this cycle.

Agree about their coach. He looked like he had no answer to anything.

Would a united team really be that much better though? Gareth Bale, Darren fletcher, maybe one or two others I'm not thinking of.

I'm already looking forward to Bosnia/Iran. Both teams looked good in narrow losses to Argentina.

Just like the Bosnia game, Messi was non-existent for all but a few minutes here and there. But all it takes for him is one moment, which is what makes him so special I guess.

The defense of Iran was just unbeatable. They had all 11 players in the box basically the whole game. Argentina only had about 8, sometimes way less which seemed very surprising to me.

Iran wasn't playing to score at all, it was all about Argentina NOT scoring. That was their game plan.
Argentina dominated the whole game, I kept expecting them to get in but they missed a few good opportunities.
Reps to Iran. They had a fantastic plan and executed it almost perfectly...almost.
As for Messi, I can't imagine the pressure he's under. When you have 3 red shirts around the whole game its not easy to break.
But in the end, he came through. Which is more than previous WC.

Iran did play well, but Argentina looked awful. I have watched a lot of Argentina and that was the worst I have seen them play in a while. Errant passes, stupid, long distance shots, sloppy defending, and no focus in the final third. They were lucky to escape with a victory.

When you have Messi, Aguero, Di Maria, and Higuan on the field at the same time, there is no reason not to score. There is no better attacking force in the world.

As of a fan of the game, similar to how I love watching the Spurs, I love watching Germany. They are the class of the world right now.

Anyone know how many teams Kevin Prince and Jerome have played against each other? So weird haha
