I thought 2017 was The Year of Forgiveness with you two?

That's all Koon. He is working on becoming a better person.

I clearly don't need any improvement.

It is, but I think we all know he's not plugged into recruiting. He's more of a general team, political guy.

I know more about recruiting and analyzing players than you do.

This is a fact.

Like 2-catch, 11-yards Nic Wieshar?

But I don't have the time or interest to argue about something pointless. So ok man, if you say so!

Wow... you guessed that we wouldn't use our TE this year, what a braniac.

I never said that Wieshar was going to have a great year last year, regardless of how many times you try to say it. Your original comment was that he wasn't good in high school, which he is the best TE in IL state history. Don't let facts get in the way you creepy little freak.

It's not his height I'm worried about. A 6'/165 receiver isn't really that appealing to me. Sure... we can pack on weight, he can get stronger, but is that really something you should expect from a five star WR?

Honestly... and I know I'll be blasted for this.... but I think we got the best St Brown. I think the other two are going to underwhelm.

I would take any of the three over him specifically because they are on defense. I'm by no means saying they are better overall prospects (although, I think PJ might be), but their position and our needs make them more important, imo.

Wide receivers are a dime a dozen.

100% agree.

I said his film didn't show me a guy that was a going to be a receiving threat. I never denied his production -- his HS stats are facts, why would I deny them? Lol.

His production was great. But I didn't think his film showed what it'd take to translate to the next level, and predicted IE was going to be disappointed if they expected a receiving threat

Move the goal post all you need - I couldn't care less about talking about this. Have at it.

For everyone wondering, here's Koon's original post in Weishar's thread

Just watched his tape. If he can add the weight to be a true TE, I think we got a great pickup today. If he never bulks up and is strictly a WR, he's probably about as skilled as John Goodman I'd say.

You're the one moving the goal posts, not me.

That would make sense if his lack of production last year had anything to do with his ability. We didn't utilize his position, nor did we the year prior with Alize either. His HS tape is filled with big time plays and athleticism. That's why he was widely lauded by recruiting experts that judge kids talent on more than whether they want to bone them.

There are so many good WRs in this class, and we already have 2 really good ones committed that compliment each other perfectly, that I think IE is making WAY too big of a deal about ASB just because we know so much about him.

Give me Brian Hightower and I'll forget ASB's initials by noon.

B Hightower, T Bush, M Wilson, A Schwartz, K Babb, J Moore, S Anderson-Butts, K Austin, J McDonald(listed as safety but he can play anywhere.) This is a list of guys I would take before, at the same in exchange for, or not totally be but hurt about losing with St. Brown, if we landed. Two or three from this list and I say what Egyptian God?

I certainly wouldn't bank on one wide receiver making a game changing difference for ND this year. It is much different than 2015. And as much as Will Fuller rocked, there were other pieces that were required for him to have the success he did, including Kizer putting the ball in the perfect position, repeatedly.

There's a 247 premium article that I cannot read titled "Will ND land a 5-star recruit in 2018?".

We've landed one 5-star player in the past 4 years, and that was Tommy Kramer, who wasn't even a composite 5-star.

So I'll ask that question here - does ND land at least one 5-star player in 2018?

Didn't Daelin Hayes have five stars from at least one of the services?
But no, we basically don't play for five-stars lately. When we do they're good academic and geographic fits (which doesn't describe most five stars). Given the track record I'm actually OK with that as long as we land high quality fours who actually want to be here.

If we have a GREAT season, I could see us looking more favourable for Amon-Ra.

If Phil has a GREAT season and camp circuit I could see him pushing into 5-Star territory.

Derrick Allen is 40th in the country according to RIVALS. If he shows out well this year I could see him potentially making a jump into the Top-20.

There's potential. But there are a lot of IF's.

It's possible, but will ND land a truly elite player this cycle?

It's hard to say who's next but I like Franklin to ND but likely not during his visit. It's possible but I think he's waitin g on a Clemson offer then decide between ND, Clemson and whatever other solid offers comes his way. The X factors are his intelligence is real and he wants a good degree, he also respects that ND has been on him since he was a two star. Wouldn't be shocked if he committed when he gets his offer during his visit - March 24-25. We'll see.

I like Turner to ND. All the academic offers. Smart kid. Set up a visit with his mom. I could see him committing on his visit.

Franklin recently visited Clemson, and left without an offer. My guess is Clemson goes in a different direction.

Loy has been adamant that the staff really likes Franklin. We'll see how that visit goes.

Your guess may be right. They may be slow playing him but the chances of Clemson not finding bigger fish at DT at some point, are low.

I do know he was blown away by the visit though, but he really likes ND and the fact that Elko and Lea and Elston have been on him since he was relatively unknown. Said "I'm used to it. I've been an underdog my whole life." Getting contacted heavily by ND was huge for him.

Another interesting note that hasn't been talked about a lot, Franklin, Booker and Shane Lee are super close friends as they all played together at Gilman.

Not saying it would happen right away but if ND offers Newsome will be Irish, I wouldn't like the offer personally but he's a good kid.

Per Dave Peloquin on twitter - it seems he may be hinting to a possible commit today. Any guesses?
