With Tranquill visiting this weekend I wouldn't be surprised if we flipped him by next week. He keeps saying its a business decision and if thats the case, assuming Purdue isn't lining his pockets with cash, I think he's ND's to lose sooner than later.

I'm still curious about the timing of Tranquill's ND interest and Yeargin committing out of the blue (last reported, Yeargin was planning to commit either after his first game or after his last game).

Both are possible ILBs. Tranquill gets ND offer and within a week Yeargin commits to ND. I wonder how hard the staff will push for Tranquill now.

Both are possible ILBs. Tranquill gets ND offer and within a week Yeargin commits to ND. I wonder how hard the staff will push for Tranquill now.

Don't think they have an effect on each other. Yeargin is a CAT first, probably would only be given a look inside if we land another CAT.

I share your curiousity, but I don't think we offer Tranquill if there is only one spot available to him until closer to NSD. Also Yeargin isn't a ILB recruit only. Yeargin will start at CAT. However, that changes if we were to land Carter or Williams.

This article says we are looking at him as a linebacker ... but Purdue sees him as a "defensive athlete" who can play either linebacker or safety or a mix. tifwiw

It also said he was 17 years old. I think his body will dictate where he ultimately is placed. 205-210 seems really small for inside linebacker. He'll need a double dose of Longo.

That makes sense to me, after watching a few minutes of his tape. He's built like a young, skinny Dan Fox (who was also a high school safety). Squat, powerful build ... not a Nicky Baratti-type long, rangy build. He just needs time with Longo to put the weight on.

I wonder why they think he can play ILB? Not a lot of tape on coverage. He looks athletic and fluid, though, and plays hard and focused.

A low 3-star with Notre Dame, Oregon, USC, and Miami offers. Interesting!

This post is correlating Yeargin committing and Tranquill's off from the staff. You are basically saying that maybe they are both vying for the same spot. I said that it was very curious that it occurred that way but I don't believe they are necessarily vying for the same spot. Its too early in the game.
