Jarron has the body to play with the big boys, but he lacks the strength, technique, quickness off the ball to play right now. Lynch benefited from a extra semester and that is why he came into his own a little more than Tuitt. Lynch had quickness and hands...Jarron doesnt have that. Jarron certainly doesn't have Lynch's motor, not too many do. Tuitt has brute strength, and alot more athletic ability than Jarron. But it took him quite awhile this year to establish himself. Tuitt, Lynch all had those qualities and that pushed them for PT over Ishaq. Ishaq has freaky athletic ability/speed/agility but he was learning a position he has never played. He didnt have the impact Tuitt/Lynch did, but he was night and day compared to the start of the year. yes, he was hurt most of the year, but jarron isnt on Ishaqs level. Is it a bad thing, hell no. I was as happy to get Jarron as anyone, but ND is at the point where we can develop talent and not throw it to the wolves right away. KLM/Tuitt/Lynch/Hounshell/Kona with Shembo/Niklas/Ishaq being able to put a hand on the ground are more than capable of holding it down with out burning Jarrons frosh year. Id say Day would more than likely get PT with the type of style he plays as well as the extra semester.
If Jarron has to play bc of injury then thats another thing and something we dont want to think about. We are getting quality depth and its not a bad thing to be able to develop talent for a year and let them get their feet wet.
