Who do you want to replace Brian Kelly?

What about Cutcliffe from Duke? If the guy can win at Duke, VS ND, he has to be better than BK

...at least we'd get Peyton Manning as OC and QB coach....until the Tennessee job opens up again.

Question: If Miami University is the cradle of coaches...what is Cincinnati?

The Benjamin Button of coaches?

There was an infancy that mirrored an old, down-trodden program... and then a transformation into the prime middle of life, where plenty of great coaches found their way (Urban Meyer; John Harbaugh; Mark Dantonio) and things were okay; and now the university is plagued by an old head coach who is actually a big baby.

Last night at 10 in the other thread I put the O/U at 15 hours for BK to go to Oregon. I'm starting to think this happens, I'll be more shocked if he stays than goes at this point. I took the over, I think we hear something between 2-5. This is all just speculation on my part.

So if he goes to Oregon, are we free of his buyout I assume? The ledger would be balanced and we could hire?

If Oregon just fired their guy, is it even feasible that a deal would already be in place with BK? I'm dreaming here.

"Big news" today is inevitable if the Kelly/Swarbrick meeting is taking place; no matter what they decide to do.

I'm not sure about that, but I think it would be a great move for everyone. I think BK would do great out there. And most ND peeps would be happy to move on, I just don't see a ton of coaches I'd love to get right now. Maybe it's been Les Miles for weeks and we just haven't heard.

I just don't see any chance of Kelly getting hired at a significant job in the immediate future. I'd give it a 25% chance he's fired, and a 1% chance he is already negotiating with another school.

he's well respected in coaching circles and would be a great hire for many schools.

Yes, but there is a PR aspect. He's going to want a big job, like Oregon, and their fans would not be happy. His casual fan reputation is a screamer with some big scandals that just went 4-8.

True, but take away this year he has done WAAAAY better than Fleck (who is an 8-5 coach with one good year) over the last 4 years. And look at everyone on Flecks nutties, BK may have worn out his welcome at ND, but I have no doubt in my mind he can still win a lot of football games. Nobody plays D in the Pac and he can recruit anyone he wants to play for him. He would be a great hire for them.

Texas was preparing to fire Strong for months. There 2016 is going to be our 2017.

Last year was also year 2 of Strong's tenure while this is year 7 for BK. Texas recruited well last cycle and Strong deserved a third year with his system and players in place. Big difference between firing a guy year 2 vs year 7.

I found this part interesting:

That's because Kelly has little accountability for the academic scandal.

You're right in the sense that he can't follow the players around 24/7. But c'mon man. He's the "CEO" of the team. Like it or not, the responsibility falls to him because he's the supposed leader. If he doesn't like it, don't be the head coach. It's very simple.

Even if he believes he has "zero culpability" you at least sack up and say "Hey, we realized that we didn't emphasize academics enough for some of the players and we've taken steps to make sure they all feel comfortable with their academic workload. It's not easy being an ND football player, so the coaching staff is going to up our support of the academic programs so our players get a top notch education and football experience."

Aside from Paul Finebaum and Brian Hamilton, every other journalist would let it go. But instead, Kelly goes in front of the podium like a fuckhead and gives the University, the fans, the players, and Jack the finger. He made this worse than it needed to be because he's never at fault when something goes wrong. He's a little petulant bitch.
