Obviously not a good guy since he caused his wife to miscarry by beating her and alienated his daughter by being an abusive drunk. But he seems genuinely contrite, and wants to make amends, so it's hard not to feel at least some sympathy for him. Good example of CD Projekt Red's complex character writing.

Yeah the first time I played through I missed some of the subtle stuff (well, all of it really), like he got the name 'bloody baron' over a complete misunderstanding, or how resolved he is to change his ways and all or how he took in Greka without hesitation... All I really took in is that his name was 'bloody baron' and he beat his wife so he's a complete dick. I have found during this second play through he is way more sympathetic and the 'drunk in a volatile marriage' thing almost makes him more human and easy to connect too in a very strange way for a video game of all things... I was pretty taken back by it all yesterday.

Just spent 45 minutes researching "stream honking" and "stream sniping" on Playerunknown's Battlegrounds, as I saw a bunch of nerds on my Facebook arguing Fortnite vs PUBG, and PUBG's streamers made their way into the convo somehow.

And now I'm mad at dudes who broadcast streams I don't watch on a game that I don't play (PUBG), because they act like bitches when their fame gets the best of them and people locate them in the game via their stream... or even worse, when they bitch that regular players "must be stream sniping" just because they were killed, as if a normal player isn't capable of taking them out without "cheating" (and I put cheating in quotes because is it really 'cheating' if you are openly broadcasting a stream of your gameplay even though you KNOW you're in a competitive environment?).

The honking thing is just hilarious to me, and it brings me joy to know that some streamers are immensely irritated by it.

Anywho, I think I'm gonna give Fortnite a try tonight or tomorrow.

If you're into the genre, I bet you'll like it. It's very fun to watch.

And there's no contest. Fortnite >>> PUBG.

It's been a minute since I've dedicated myself to a shooter, especially one of the "competitive" and "online" varieties, but I've seen enough footage on Facebook and Youtube to know what it's about.

And the fact that the game and its community don't seem to take themselves too seriously is appealing to me.

My only experience is as a spectator, but PUBG is boring. Long intervals of looting and traveling interspersed by very brief bouts of combat. Most Fortnite games are much more frenetic. You drop into Tilted Towers and immediately have to start fighting other players for guns, shields, bandages, etc. And the action generally doesn't let up much until the end. Also, the building aspect adds a cool tactical dimension which is completely absent from PUBG.

Isn't Fortnite pay-to-win?

I think it’s mostly cosmetic, with some exceptions on costumes that receive armor boosts I think. I haven’t done too much research on the finer details yet, just watched a lot of random clips and gameplay.

If anyone is looking for a fun "realistic" shooter on PC, check out Insurgency on Steam. Has some similarities to Counter Strike. Cheap and fun though.

fortnite was cool the first time I played until I saw it is basically a team game and who ever can build crap the fastest. No real FPS skills needed. Think minecraft with some weapons

I just got a Super NT so I've been trying to get every exit in Super Mario World. I really think it's the best platformer of all time.

It appears Nintendo has heard the cries and has restocked the SNES Classic in greater numbers, and will do the same with the NES Classic over the year. I thought about grabbing one just for Super Mario World, and the fact that it's apparently pretty easy to hack/mod to put other games/systems on it.

Nintendo says they're selling more of the NES/SNES Classic systems to try and drive interest in people who haven't gamed in a long time, or ever, hoping that they will eventually transition to the Switch.

That's cool, but why not just put a fucking Virtual Console on the Switch????

I would buy a Switch yesterday if there was a VC store with NES, SNES, and gameboy games on it.

Alternatively, take all of your insanely popular IP and stick it on Steam, PSN, and Xbox Live. Sell 25 year old games for $10 a pop and make literal billions. I don't even LIKE Nintendo and I'd plunk down $10 each for Super Mario World, Donkey Kong Country 1, 2, and 3, Punch-Out!!, Pokemon Red/Blue, Pokemon Stadium, Star Fox, Mario Kart, Metroid Prime, and Super Smash Bros. at least.

I'd support that over the Switch VC, because then I don't have to buy a Switch.

But if Nintendo's reasoning is "we'll release the classic consoles so maybe people will buy the Switch after that"... why not just put the fucking classic consoles on the Switch itself lol? Nintendo is bad at business things too often.

I guess there's a risk that the common gamer they are trying to attract won't spend the $300 just for nostalgia, but their greatest market share is probably bros like me who WOULD throw down the $300 for access to a VC if that were the only way to do it.

That's exactly why then need to go the software route. $300 is a steep buy-in cost. Even $80 or whatever for the Classics is steep if you're only buying them for a few of the titles. If you made ALL of the titles available on preexisting hardware (i.e. Xboxes and PlayStations and PCs), you loop people in for exactly the amount they're willing to spend. Otherwise, they're losing 100% of the people who would be willing to spend $10, $25, or $50 on Nintendo crap, and I'm confident that that's a much bigger population than the people willing to spend the full $300 on an entire console.

I just finished up a playthrough of Bayonetta 2 on the Switch. Holy cow that was fun. It's ridiculous and over the top, but really a wonderfully made game. It improves on everything from the first game in a really great way.

Now I'm just biding my time and waiting until early April when Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire and Far Cry 5 are released.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance on PC looks lit. RPG as a fighting monk in the Holy Roman Empire.

Anybody playing Fortnite? I haven't done the PVP side yet, but I've been playing the Co-Op with a buddy.

Asking this again. Has anyone played the new Metal Gear game, Metal Gear Survive?

Maybe there are no metal gear fans here. I want to get it, but would have to also join the PS4 online community which is an annual charge I currently don't pay, so just seeing if it's worth it.

Favorite series I've ever played.

Love MG, still play Phantom Pain alot. As you know Kojima is not with Konami anymore and Survive is a total shitshow, terrible game by all accounts. I wouldn't bother.
