It's just strange that they didn't program the game to manage the roster at all in terms of CPU Position Changes. I got to UK, and they had 7 ROLB's that were all in the 80's, but only two MLB's, and both were obviously walk-ons in the 40's. The ROLB's made up the initial CPU depth chart that I inherited, but it's crazy that they couldn't put in a limited roster optimization program of some sort that could change some of those ROLB's into MLB's.

Of course there would be problems and limitations. Like, every CB rates wayyyyyyyyyyy better as a FS for some reason, so the program would probably change all CB's to to FS's at some point, but I'm sure they could have come up with some limitations or something.

I always hated the Roster problems when you would take over a new team. I once had a DT playing Center for a team I took over because they recruited none.

Like you said about the CBs being better at FS when you would do the position changes, I never understood how big of a drop some players would receive for changing positions. I'd try to move a backup G to C because I didn't want to start a true freshman, and his overall dropped 9 points. Never made much sense.

Yeah there isn't much rhyme or reason to how they program the calculations for some of the "overall" ratings. The OL is a good example. The other is TE. Any TE that you recruit that is a "Receiving" TE will almost always rate 3 or 4 points better overall as a WR, even though their speed might not be great and they still have okay blocking stats.

The other thing that bugged me was going to a new school where you needed to move a guy from one side of the ball to the other. You could find a DB with 70+ catch ratings, but if you move them to WR, where you realllllly need them, their awareness drops to a ~30 and kills their overall rating, which makes it tough to make the move unless you can redshirt them for a year.

Unless a guy was initially an ATH as a recruit, there is almost no realistic way to change a guy from one side of the ball to the other, even though you can often see a RB go to S, or a S go to RB in emergencies in real life.

Moving a LB to DE was like a 8 point increase it always seemed like. I'd have LB sized DEs every year that were decked out in team colored arm bands, visors, and back plates. Oh yeah don't forget the team color shoe tape.

Ha, in my first season at ND in the dynasty I mentioned above, I had a 220 lb. former LB playing at DT. He was surprisingly stout, and an excellent pass rusher from the 3 technique.

I loved going into CPU rosters for say, Auburn for example, like eight years into it... they'd have slow DBs, bone skinny DLinemen... 6'5" kickers...

Madden...Madden is a whole 'nother problem when it comes to rosters and roster management. I hadn't played a Madden game in some time and ended up getting last year's game after picking up a PS4 and getting the football itch. I played about 4 seasons, but I'm not sure how much more I'm going to do.

For one, the Draft is completely lopsided at times and makes 0 sense. As an example, in year 3 there were more than 5 DTs projected for Round 1 after evaluating them...which normally wouldn't be a completely crazy development (Aside from it limiting your first round choices at other positions)....BUT 5 OF THEM WERE FROM NEBRASKA! I shit you not. What the hell kind of defense was Nebraska running?! 7-2-2? That can really screw with your draft when a majority of the first round talent is centered at one position. Little things like that made me shake my head, and year in and year out some schools are over represented in a BIG way. In those 4 seasons only two ND players even made it to the draft....and I'm not just talking highly drafted players, I'm talking a total of 2 ND players in the entire draft over the span of 4 years. In comparison Appalachian St. has had 4 times as many players drafted. Is that a bit of a ticky tacky thing? Maybe, but for a guy that likes to pickup ND prospects that does kind of suck...and it gets kind of ridiculous when you've got 35+ Ohio State players in a single draft, the immersion is destroyed. Might as well just leave the schools out of the equation because they mean nothing.

I also agree that teams failing to improve their talent is a big issue. It was interesting to see how many times I built a player up, they tried to negotiate a hefty contract I wasn't willing to pay, and then after getting traded they ended up falling off the face of the earth and regressing quickly. Seems to happen mostly with QBs, especially the older ones. I actually traded to have Quinn as my backup QB on the Browns, starter got knocked out early and then took the Browns to the Super Bowl with Quinn and won. Built him up decently over that year, but ended up having to trade him shortly after because he wanted more money based on his high attribute score. He was in the high 80s/low 90s overall when I dumped him, but he quickly dipped in the year after the trade and ended up cut. Got to wonder why the CPU took the trade to begin with.

That's the worst. Seems like all the players come from about 4-5 schools (mine is Oklahoma and San Jose state?? LOL)

And if you've ever tried to trade draft picks on draft day...it says "success"...but never goes through? I think that's a glitch.

But Madden 16, at least for me, did have a good blend of players as far as what's available in the draft by position. Shitty thing is that you don't get those "freaks" at outside backer. They're all 6'2, 220. It's like they're all built for a 4-3.

I always tried to think on it like, "I'm just being sensitive, it's just random..." But for years now it seems like ND never gets many draft picks and def never gets any high ones...

Every draft I've done I search the prospects and come to the conclusion someone on the EA Madden team has an axe to grind against ND  That, or someone really thinks Appalachian State and Ball State do a better job developing NFL talent.

Yeah, but in all fairness, it skips a buncha schools. I never see BAMA players on there either

It's always mid majors and some Big12 school.

More Dark Souls, playing through New Game+ and finished Four Kings again. Looking to work the dark side angle this time, the Age of Fire will be no more.

HUGE changes to Symettra. She's almost a completely different character if this what it sounds like. She now might be worth playing.

Been playing The Forest with my roommate a bit. You crash on an island with a bunch of cannibals basically. From there it's a survival crafting type game. Lot of those out there now it seems.

Been playing The Forest a lot lately, moved my base to a new spot but I can't get any building done because I'm constantly getting hassled by cannibals

TONS of Steam sales going on right now. Lots of games are under $10, some under $5. Just picked up Dark Souls 2 for $10, figured I'd give that a whirl along with 3 other games I had sitting in my Wishlist: Banished, Dragon's Dogma (Has very high reviews, just $12), Perpetuum (Don't have high hopes for this one, but it was $2 and had been in my list for some time).

Lots of newer games are on sale for $20 too. The new Doom is one of those. Base version of Fallout 4 is $20. Witcher 3 GOTY edition is $30. Rise of the Tomb Raider is $30. 7 Days to Die is $10, a great Survival Zombie game that I play the shit out of. Check your wishlists and see if there's anything you've been waiting to get.

Lol I was literally just coming on here to spread the gospel.

I got the 17 Command & Conquer/ Red Alert games for 4 dollars on Origin. I'm going to be feeling nostalgia into perpetuity with that one. I haven't played the original C&C for probably about 15 years. Red Alert same. My dad and I got super into C&C Generals as well as Tiberium Wars.

I got Shadow of Mordor for $10 as well.

Bought Doom for $20 from the kick ass steam sale going on right now. Was a little worried that my system would have trouble (video card) running it, but a couple patches/vulkan in, it seems to be running pretty well at 1080p. Looking forward to forgetting the season..

System Specs:

i7-4770k (de-lidded and lapped) OC @ 4.7GHz (1.275v)
16GB Corsair Dominator DDR3-2800
eVGA GeForce 760 OC 4GB
500GB OCZ SSD

You'll probably be fine. I run modern games with just a slightly older 660 eVGA GeForce GTX with few problems. Sometimes I step the graphics down to keep framerates up, sometimes I just let it ride and deal with occasional drops.

Yeah, it's been fine for 1080p for most games, but Doom was asking a bit much at launch of a 760. Now with a few patches and the introduction of vulkan, a few driver updates for nVidia and the fact I have a 4GB VRAM card (most are 2GB) and I think I squeeked out another premiere title out of this card. Going to wait awhile until a game needs some serious GPU power to upgrade to a 1060. Hoping 1260's are on the market by the time I'm buying a 1060 since my i7-4770k delidded and watercooled is going to last me a long time at 4.7GHz. Only thing I can think of that would require more graphical power at 1080p that I can think of right now is probably Witcher 3.

Played through Banished a bit last night and tonight. It's a cool little RTS, but it's a bit weird since there's no combat mechanics like an Age of Empires. Supposedly the game really shines with mods, but I'm not ready to delve down that rabbit hole yet. Had a bit of a learning curve, my first village starved to death as I couldn't gather enough food to sustain everyone, but I got the hang of it.

Spent the rest of tonight playing through Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen. I have no idea why I haven't heard of this game before. I guess it was on the last generation, but it was just released on Steam earlier this year. It's still early, but the combat is a lot of fun. It's hack and slash with some skill involved. You have your normal attacks, along with some special attacks based on your class. There's some decent character customization. The NPC's all seem to be voiced. You get occasional "Pawns" to help you along the way (And they'll even provide suggestions on what to do next based on what Quest you have selected). If I had one gripe it's that there's just tons of stuff you can loot/swipe around town and on the road, which means I'm going to spend an hour at every location to take EVERYTHING cause I can't pass loot up

One neat thing about boss battles is it looks like you can strategically take out some bosses piece by piece. You can even grab hold of them and start hacking away while you're riding the thing. Check out this Chimaera boss from the tutorial, you can hack the snake tail portion off first, then the goat head, etc, etc:

On Fifa 17 PC online I'm at 17 wins, 3 draws, zero losses.

Number one player in the world is a Greek guy with 450ish wins, about 150 draws, and like 100 losses. Who the hell has time for that?????

Timo! Have been thinking about grabbing him for awhile.

Goalie: Karius
Defense Hector, lovren, matip, clyne
Midfield: Johannes Geis, wijnaldum, max Meyer
Forwards: coutinho, Firmino, mane.

Bench: Henderson, Renato Sanches, Origi, Milner, Pulisic, Grujic, then rotate between youngins.

Year 3. About to really transform the team. Sell off a lot of dead weight. I loan more than chelsea.

You can call me Liverpool or FC Bundesliga

I'll just call your team Southampton.

I develop a few young guys, I like the progression on this one much more than past fifa games.
