That's the beauty of Easterm Michigan... The challenge, plus I hate T States unis... I've taken SMU before though.

Nothing wrong with these unis

WKU's current uniforms in real life aren't great, but their uniforms from 2013 that are in the game are some of my favorite. Their classic-looking home and away uni's are simple but bold, and they've got some nice black/gray alternate options to change things up if you want.

So last night I was playing Overwatch and I was on voice with this one other guy. We ended up playing five or six games, at which point he says something about his Twitch viewers watching. I felt kind of violated. I feel like there needs to be notification or some shit.

You didn't embarrass yourself in front of a live audience, did you?

No, but the guy said something vaguely racist so that's how Twitch came up. He said something like "sorry to my Twitch viewers" or whatever.

I'm going to have to outlaw you from posting any more Overwatch stuff until you get the game and play a match with me.

Get. Online.
How are you doing in ranked? Oh wait... PlayStation doesn't have ranked play yet.

The odds of that guy having a significant following on Twitch are very low. The vast majority of viewers glom onto the top few streamers online at any given time. Scrolling down, you quickly get into channels with fewer than 100 viewers; and a lot of those are simply viewbots purchased in order to make the streamer look more popular.

I know, I know. Here's my predicament. My gaming time is pretty much limited to 8:00-10:00pm MST while I'm on guard duty in my loft, trying to keep my kids in their bedrooms long enough for them to fall asleep. And it's not uncommon that I need to pause and go dispense parental justice, or help my wife with something, etc. I really don't want to ghost on people in the middle of a match, especially if playing with friends...

Perfect, that's when I play too. So buy an Xbox and we can drink Hammer's tears.

The time isn't the issue. I'm on there every night. Whiskey just apparently likes his kids more than Overwatch... which frankly has me concerned about his commitment.

I've really gotten into this new game called Stellar. Brought to you buy the folks who made Cities: Skyline and the Europa Universalis games.

If you enjoy strategy games, empire building, etc. I'd encourage you to look into it.

I did it. I bought a PS4.

It was the CoD: BO3 bundle, so I've got that, and Overwatch will arrive on Tuesday from Amazon.

Until then, I'll try to learn Black Ops, as well as NBA 2K16, which is one of the free games of the month for PS Plus. I downloaded the other, as well, which is a game I've never heard of called Gone Home.

Holy shit don't look up anything about Gone Home before you play it. The whole point of that game can be ruined by learning too much about it.

Overwatch is currently on a UPS truck somewhere in my neighborhood.

Depending on how long it takes my shitty internet to perform the first update when I put the disc in after work, I may be getting my first taste of the game tonight.

1. Send me them PSN ID's, errybody (mine is theIrishLion10).

2. Did anybody ever play/finish Assassin's Creed: Syndicate on PS4? I'm trying to decide if I want to grab that or look for something else cheap/used to alternate with Overwatch while I wait for Madden and Battlefield.

Btw Lion who do you think you'll want to play as in Overwatch?

I'll preface this by saying that I am the exact opposite of Whiskey... I like to go in blind and build my knowledge base from my own experiences. I find that I get frustrated and flustered if I try to learn too much before I've actually got my hands on a game. I'll look at basic tips and overviews, and watch some gameplay footage, but other than the extreme basics, I'll be a total noob, throwing myself into the deep end.

Having said that, and based on what I've picked up from you guys conversing in this thread, I figured I'd start with a tank of some sort, that way I can soak up damage and run around like an idiot while I learn what I'm doing.

I planned on doing some basic research on gameplay setup/modes this afternoon if work stays slow.

Any tips/pointers/basics that I should be aware of for when I get into my first match?

Play your role, don't play a tank like an offensive character. Communicate with teammates. Have fun.

Get a headset and use it.

Ahhh, so I must mentally steel myself for tiny children yelling incoherent things about myself and my mother?

Ignore your wife when she gives you dirty looks.

She's 8-months pregnant. I'm building her a pillow fort in bed and stocking her with food and beverage. She will leave me alone when I first play this game and she will like it.

If you're inclined toward the Tank role, Reinhardt, Roadhog, Winston and Zarya are all very good. Though playing Zarya well seems to be very difficult, and Roadhog requires good aim for landing hooks. So I'd start with Reinhardt or Winston.

Tanks are generally supposed to be focus on the objective and be in its vicinity more than any other hero type. It also helps to know which opposing heroes you can effectively counter, and to focus them down when the opportunity arises, but don't do so at the expense of the objective.

You have to like talk to people and communicate and such in Overwatch???

I'm clearly too anti-social for this game.

I don't think a high-end guide for competitive PC players is particularly useful for casual console gamers. There's a legitimate role for every single hero in casual console play so I think it's much more important to find a handful of heroes that work with your particular play style than to worry about who's most viable in the meta.

You don't have to, but it's a distinct advantage and it also solves one of the biggest problems you have in online multiplayer games. You've said before that you don't like games where you run around like an idiot and blast everything that moves. I certainly understand that concern in something like a 20 v 20 objective match or a 10 v 10 deathmatch. But Overwatch is 6 v 6, meaning every player matters and so does strategy. You're not just running around like an idiot, you're thinking and acting strategically as a team.
