What is wrong with people

I generally enjoy this board 90% of the time. I really do. Then I read threads like this.
It seems to me that it is easier to judge than it is to understand. I just think that more people should realize that there were a multitude of prior things that led up to this one instance. I suggest utilizing the concept of Root Cause Analysis to help simplify things and put it into perspective. Did all that nonsense have to happen? No. It all could have been avoided but people don't care to treat their fellow human beings well or with understanding and this thread exemplifies the same shit.

The thread was meant strictly for the OP entertainment. Look at the OP history. It was not meant for serious discussion.

That being said, I'd be happy to have a discussion of the root causes with you on PM if you are interested. I'd like to hear your thoughts.

I find it interesting that you seem to be getting more frustrated with the opinions of people on a message board than an assault. You seem to be quick to condemn us for the "shit" on this board, because we're so quick to condemn them for the "shit" in real life. Which seems rather nonsensical.

Ah, the good old southside of Muncie, I presume.

I actually think there is a Taco Bell across the street from the gross strip club, Jokers Wild.

Beau can't remember if the Taco Bell is there, but he knows the strip club is! My man!

It would be interesting to know the SES each of you grew up under, where you grew up and what level of diversity you lived with on a daily basis.

... or if you listen to Slayer, Keith Urban or 2 Chainz

SES?? Serious question?? I'll bite.

I grew up outside of LA in a very poor area, my neighborhood was and still is called "Little Mexico"... I'm in a inter racial marriage and most of my close friends are minorities... hope that answers it??

Yes, I was serious, all except the music artist line in italics. Why are you upset?

I'm guessing Brick never thought his post would turn into one of IE's famous morality debates.

Tell us your socioeconomic background and where you stand on this issue. If we're going to open ourselves up to having our points of view become minimized by perceived stereotypes based on our class/race/education, I think it's fair we start with you.

Grew up well below the poverty line on a ridge in the middle of nowhere Kentucky. There was zero diversity there. The first non white person I physically saw was when I started sixth grade.

None of that matters to me nor would it be an excuse for acting like the people in the video. While it is important to understand what causes people to act the way they do, I don't believe it excuses their behavior. They should be responsible for how they act and no cultural norm justifies their actions in the video.

Grew up listening to bluegrass, Elvis (mom was a huge fan) gospel, Hank Sr, Some Motown, then eventually into the hard rock scene with the advent of MTV.

I didn't ask to know individual info on anybody, simply said it would be interesting to know such info and then follow along with the thread. That's all.

Now I'm upset...

Why?

Sure, why not.

I grew up in an old New England manufacturing town. All of the mills and shopping centers have been closed for decades and the town is in disrepair. I was one of the "rich kids" because we had a house and both my parents worked (one in a factory, the other in various clerical roles). For comparison of what "rich kid" meant in my town, my need-based financial aid package at Notre Dame covered the full cost of tuition, room, and board.

My "beliefs" largely come from watching what my father was able to do for his family with no college education. He went through layoffs, on-the-job injuries, and temp positions but never stopped working.

Ok here goes..

I grew up in a suburb of Dallas. My single mother raises my brother and I after my father died of cancer when I was 1 year old. She was a secretary and we barely lived over the poverty line. She put a roof over our heads and we never starved, god rest her soul. She died when I was a junior in college, from cancer, the day before my 22nd birthday.

My wife came from Cambodia fleeing the Khmer Rouge. Her family lived in concentration camps. She lost two older siblings, and watched many people die. She had literally nothing but the clothes on her back when she came to America.

We come from humble beginnings, but have used education to propel ourselves into white collar jobs. She in medicine, me in IT (InfoSec).

We have two beautiful mixed children who are both doing well in school, and we could not be happier.

Most of our friends are of different races and socioeconomic backgrounds.

There is no understanding of people like that. People that behave in that manner are nothing more than animals who need to be caged. Decent people do not behave like that and there is no possible way anyone can justify that.

Never heard the term. And no I am not racist of any sort. If you can prove where I have made any *racist* comments in this thread, I would like you to quote them.

Be careful, I might have to report you to the mods for libel when it is proven you cannot.

Race has nothing to do with this type of behavior. I work as a firefighter in a medium sized city in East Tennessee. Before this job, I never dreamed that so many people fail at the basic aspects of life. They are unable to keep a job, live in absolute filth (really unbelievable in some cases), are terrible parents, etc... At least in my case, the vast majority are white. Dealing with these types of people on a consistent basis has made me lose faith in humanity (slight exaggeration).

BTW I grew up in Florida, in a house with two loving parents. They didn't make a lot money (Dad laid carpet, Mom worked in a medical office) but my childhood was great. All my close friends were white although I played sports with a lot of Black and Hispanic kids.
