Oskar Blues Ten FIDY.

IMHO the best non-barrel aged stout out there (Founders Imperial Stout is probably #2).

Anybody ever try the Anderson Valley Pinchy Jeek Barl? It's a pumpkin ale aged in Wild Turkey bourbon barrels. That makes me think it may be similar to Avery's Pumkyn

For those who like Big Bad Baptist, Epic is releasing a Double Barrel Big Bad Baptist this year. Sounds amazing.
Epic Brewing Adds Double Barrel Big Bad Baptist & Big Bad Baptista To Lineup • thefullpint.com

The idea behind Double Barrel Big Bad Baptist was born when our friends at HotBox Roasters, based out of Longmont, CO told us they’ve been aging green coffee beans in retired spirits barrels. Our eyes widened at the possibilities, it was like a new frontier of flavor had been opened up.

Green coffee beans are like sponges, they soak up the aromas and flavors of their environment. If you put them in a used whiskey barrel, you’ll get notes of toffee, vanilla, oak, and campfire alongside the beans natural fruity and roasted flavors. The barrel aged coffees coming from HotBox are some of the most exciting and truly unique coffees we’ve tasted. We selected their single origin Ethiopian Yirgacheffe for its bright blueberry and pomegranate flavors. It’s a major departure from the classic Columbian and Central American flavor profile we normally select for Big Bad Baptist but with the additional flavor contribution from the whiskey barrel and Hot Box’s carful roasting, the coffee comes to the forefront of the beer and really showcases the unique process.

To accommodate the bold flavors of the coffee we sourced equally creative and maliciously crafted cacao nibs from Solstice Chocolate. Solstice Chocolate is a small artisan chocolate maker based out of Salt Lake City. They specialize in sourcing exotic, organically grown cacao from around the world. Each single origin cacao is roasted in house to bring out its inherent characteristics.

Double Barrel Big Bad Baptist is the cream of the crop with only the choicest barrels selected for the blend, barrel-aged single-origin coffee, artisanal micro-batch cacao nibs, and our ceaseless passion for style.

So the coffee beans are aged in whisky barrels and then the finished beer is aged in whiskey barrels.

Tried Goose Island's Gillian at The Hungry Monk yesterday over lunch. Loved it. Very similar in taste to Cascade's Apricot Ale, just much less sour. And at $3 for a 12 oz pour, tough to beat that value.

SanTan Grapefruit MoonJuice IPA. Ugh this 6-pack is hard to finish. I can't even tell that it is beer, just tastes like some alcoholic grapefruit juice.

Avery Raja

Also I tried Avery Rumpkin last Sunday and was pretty impressed. Though I tend to love anything aged in rum barrels.

Today I picked up a 4 pack of Oskar Blues Hot Box Porter and a 6 pack of Deschutes Sagefight Imperial IPA.

I am having the Deschutes Sagefight IIPA right now. Take my advice, don't buy a 6 pack of this. Don't get roped in by the pretty good review on RB and BA, don't get roped in by the great price (for me $7 for the 6 pack), don't. Buy a single bottle. It is interesting (tastes like a handful of fresh sage, some bread, some pine cone and a little citrus juice squeezed on top) but it is a chore to finish even a single bottle.

Friends don't let friends buy a six pack of this beer.

On my phone so no quoting. Pkt, you're welcome for the beers. Hope they were at least moderately enjoyable.

Just had Jester King Nocturn Chrysalis. Thank you Zelezovlk. Maybe the best smelling beers I've ever had. I really, really enjoyed it.

Jester King collaboration with Jolly Pumpkin Space Waves. Another very solid brew. Jester King dominates when it comes to packaging. Great labels, tons of info. They know exactly what they're doing. Thanks again Zelezovlk!
