Nice.

Has anyone had the Deschutes winter seasonal? Jubelale, I think? Saw it in the store the other day and thought of trying it.

Lol yes, this is just why I didn't try the Jubelale ... only six packs, no bombers! I almost always get bored of a beer before I get through even half of a six pack, and then I end up with a graveyard of loose bottles that just accumulate in the back of my fridge. Bombers are a way better way to new beers.

I have had Jubelale, and it is a pretty good Winter Warmer if you like that style of beer (I am not a huge fan of the style). To me not really worth a six pack. Some fruit, some spice (nutmeg, clove, a little cinnamon) hints of earthy hops.

As to the second part I have a local place (Total Wine) that has just about everything available as a single so you can buy just 1 12oz beer to try and the prices are generally reasonable (about a 50 cent mark-up so if you can get a six pack for $9, it is about $2 for one 12oz) which makes it really easy to try new beers.

I'm going to my favorite local Irish pub for the game. The place is great, ND games on the big screen with volume. Drinks are dangerously cheap, though. The last time I was there, I had a glass of Powers, neat, 3-4 Yuengling drafts, a 3rd Wave DIPA draft, and 2 bags of bar nuts all for less than $20. I'm bringing my wife tonight for ND-FSU because I'll certainly need a DD/chaperone. The place sells Redbreast neat for $5. Love it.

So Jeffersons. Neat or with water? I hear both are good but better with water.

Color?

Yesterday I stopped by AJs (fancy grocer here in AZ) to buy beer for a family funeral reception. I realized that I end up buying the same Belgian bombers because: (1) I'm usually sharing high quality beer with a small number (3-4) of people at any given time; and (2) bombers are convenient portion for small groups looking for variety.

But it's tough to find variety outside of Belgian styles if you're shopping for bombers. I'd love to mix things up with Scotch Ales, German Weizenbocks, Doppelbocks, etc. but they just aren't available. #FirstWorldProblems

As much as I abhor frequenting the retail giants, Costco always has the blue Chimay in stock so I try to buy a few when I'm there. The Red is also really good, still haven't had the white.

Bombers are great. When I finally have the space and energy to home brew, I will be filling bombers or something similar. Won't be as good as Chimay most likely, but it's a great size to fill.

Try it both ways, though I prefer just about every whisk(e)y (Bourbon, Rye, Scotch, Japanese, etc) neat, I think it is important to try every whisk(e)y both ways.

Lagunitas A Little Sumpin' Wild.

Had the Maximus in my hand then seen Modus Hoperandi ...

Have you had the Maximus and how is it?

Also grabbed a bomber of stone imperial Russian stout..

When we win some stellar whisky tbd

The normal swig of PBR every down during the game...

I like the Maximus IPA. Has some nice fruit (orange, lemon, apricot, melon etc) pine and some malt. Much better than Lagunitas' standard IPA though not anywhere as good as SUCKS (or even Hop Stoopid). I think it is definitely worth a try.

Just picked up my in game libations, a four pack of Ruination, a four pack of Myrcenary, and a bottle of Rumpleminze. I had to call in the heavy hitters for this one, gonna have to numb my brain if worse comes to worst...

Jeffersons is better with a splash of water IMO. I let it sit for a few minutes on both neat and with water. More flavor and a better finish was present.
