Stone enjoy by 7.4.14. Pkt, you had this yet? I really like it but not sure I like it more that the last enjoy by that I had (4.20.14).

Just had my first one of this batch to tonight. I think it is similar but slightly different from the 4/20/14. I believe I liked the 2/14/14 slightly better but I could be wrong.

Having said all that I still really enjoyed it, and I might grab 1-2 more.

NDinMich, have you had Alesmith Yulesmith (the summer version)?

I really started to appreciate this beer the more I drank it. Top class beer.

I have not had any Alesmith beers. Not sure if the distribute to Michigan. I really want to try the speedway stout though. The Yulesmith good?

Me and "Alex" are enjoying this right now, and yes, I'd call it the Stroh's of IPAs.

*Bonus points for all old enough to get the "Alex" reference.

I (like) to think that I'm too young to get the reference.

Stroh's was one of my cheap, regional, go-to beers while at ND.

The Speedway Stout is a wonderful beer. Alesmith makes a Yulesmith in the summer (Double IPA, bottle has blue and red letters) and in winter (Imperial Red Ale, bottle has red and green letters). Both are very good but I enjoy the winter version a slight bit more, but I always grab at least 1 (if not 2 or 3) bottles of the summer version to have around the Fourth of July.

Edit: Alesmith does not distribute to Michigan but they do distribute to Illinois, Ohio and Wisconsin in the Midwest.

Stone Enjoy By 7/4/14 on tap at Eureka Burger in San Diego. As good as it is from the bottle it is significantly better on tap. Loads of tropical and citrus fruit and some dank and piney hops. Probably the closest IPA quality wise that I have had to Pliny the Elder.

Interesting. I had a bomber the other day. Solid. I think I preferred the previous version though.

In laws in town, and they wanted to do the whole hibachi restaurant thing. Dunno why, but I always get warm sake and a bomber of Kirin at those places.

Both taste like dog shit, but I can't help myself. It's like those jerkoffs that go to Wrigley Field and insist on getting a hot dog & piss warm Old Style. You know they aren't enjoying either, but got em solely based on the fact they feel like it's some sick right of passage to choke down disgusting food and beverages because of some bizarre "When in Rome" mentality, only the real Romans would never eat or drink something that fucking stupid.

I was at a party last night, not by choice, and it was one of those "nothing but bad options" kind of party. I had a martini at work, so I figured I'd stay on the vodka train. So I ask the lady of the house what kind of vodka they have. She says "pineapple, cherry, or peach?" F***. Strike one. How about a beer? "We have a keg of Miller" says the man of the house. Damn it! "We also have a frozen margarita machine. Cherry flavored." Arrggh! Damn my snobbish palate. Luckily, someone had brought in a few sixers of Victory Summer Love. On any other night, Summer Love is just a shade above OK. But last night, it was like an oasis in a desert of lousy domestic beer and fruity girl drinks.

Blackie: just shows to go ya that you should always go to a party armed with a discrete shoulder holster packed with one of your favorite libations.

Just be careful --- if you flash your flask you may well be inundated with beggars.

Tried a Stone Chipotle Smoked Porter tonight. It was definitely something different, and piqued my interest in trying some different stuff.

*Anybody know a decent sour that is fairly common to find? I noticed they are pretty pricey. Saw a 4 pack (forget the kind) and it was like $20.

I think a good introductory sour is Lindemans Gueuze Cuvée René. I can usually pick up a 12oz single for about $6 here.

I can vouch for the Cuvée René.

Well that didn't go as planned. Told wifey to grab me "a few bottles of sour beer, ask the guy, he'll know" on the way home from work. The place has them (I've seen em), but the guy working was a newb and had no idea what that is. After a wild goose chase that included her calling me trying to find out what the hell I wanted, she comes home with a bottle of grapefruit IPA.

*I tried to say "Lindemans (insert fancy words I have no idea how to pronounce)," but that only confused her more.
