In Austin tonight, having an Austin Beerworks Fire Eagle IPA. Really hoppy. I like.

Live Oak Brewery is in Austin. Their hefeweizen is supposedly excellent. It's been on my wish list for a while. Try it if can find it.

I'll keep my eye out for those.

If you want an easy to find but good American Hefeweizen, I would suggest Sierra Nevada Kellerweis. Not as good as the ones that Whiskey Recommended but it is readily available, reasonably priced and still very good.

AD Rattray Bowmore 1991 20yo Sherry cask. Peat, raisins, figs, cinnamon, lavender, and a little bacon fat. Nice.

Found this beer last week and just got around to drinking it tonight...you weren't kidding about the hops! Holy F! I thought I liked hops and bitter but this is ridiculous.

Also, had Weihenstephaner at dinner. Real good beer. Felt like a total douche b/c I had no idea how to pronounce it.

I feel good that at least I warned you about it. The Stone Ruinten is a great beer but it is crazy hoppy and bitter.

I'll second that recommendation. One of the few domestic weizens that passes muster.

The only others I can think of are Live Oak and New Glarus; I've yet to find the former anywhere, and NG is only available in Wisconsin.

I did some work for a buddy gratis, but he insisted on paying me something. Just received it in the mail:

Will be my first experience with Balcones and corn whiskey. Have you tried it before, pkt?

Great Divide Fresh Hop Pale Ale. The thing is that it was bottled on 10/4/12. I had a bottle back when it first came out and it was very good. I picked this bottle up on clearance for $5 (I think I paid $10 or 12 for it last time). It will be interesting to see how the hops have changed.

Whiskey I have not tried that whiskey. I would like to hear what you think about it after you open it though.
