Love it.

I'm not a big fan of reds, but this one has a really nice hoppy bite/nose.

Not too malty like a lot are. My new favorite for now.

Thank you I will keep an eye out for it. I love Hoppy Reds.

Right now my favorite hoppy red is Oskar Blues G'Knight Imperial Red.

Got some Four Horsemen EPA. Not a fan.

Anybody ever drop a few olives in their beer when drinking cheap domestic? I am a fan of that.

We've got Leinenkugel Snowdrift Vanilla Porter on tap at work. I'm not a big beer drinker, but I finish just about every shift with one or two of those. Smooth and tasty.

Sounds good to me! I do prefer gin, though ... with "Vermouth" whispered somewhere in the next room.

I agree with gin over vodka (Plymouth Gin would be perfect) with a splash of olive brine and a stuffed olive or two (pimiento if I am going traditional or if going for unique Jalapeno or blue cheese).

Decided to try the St Bernardus Abt 12 after many of you recommended it. Really different from any other beer I've ever had.

Any of you guys ever tried Pliny the Elder or Pliny the Younger? A lady that works for me is going out to San Fran to try the Younger this weekend. Only available two weeks of the year at the Russian River Brewing Company. My interest is fully peaked. Supposedly they are not selling growlers this year as I was going to have her bring me one back.

Both PtE and PtY are widely considered to be the best American Double/ Imperial IPAs. The Holy Grail for hopheads. I haven't tried either of them yet; having no taste for bitterness myself, I can't justify the absurd lengths required to obtain them.

But if you like high IBU beers, it's probably worth the effort.

I finally tried Plymouth gin last night, straight up. Pretty good, but Hendrick's is still my go to gin. Plymouth will likely be my new alternate for martinis.

GITF, I have had Pliny the Elder multiple times and it is a beer that every hophead should try at least once (I have had it from the bottle and on tap) to enjoy what a truely great hoppy beer should taste like. I am still trying to get my hand on Pliny the Younger but that seems to be much more challenging. If you can get either get them. Also try some of their sour beers as they are amazing as well (supplication, consecration, temptation, etc).

Glad to hear that you like it. I like Hendricks for my Gin and Tonics as I find it slightly sweeter and goes well with a dash of lime juice. Either way you can't go wrong.

So I take it you didn't really enjoy it? Any thoughts on it?

Didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would (perhaps my expectations were too high...) but it's still a h3ll of a beer. I can see why many like it.

Here's my beer for tonight.

smirnoff and cranberry. ran out of cranberry juice, so now smirnoff and white grape juice. Yes smirnoff, drink too much for the expensive stuff.

Tonight, it's:

Not my favorite, but definitely my go-to Quad. I can find bombers at Whole Foods for $6.50, which is far cheaper than any other Quad available. Ommegang adds ~2% Kriek to an otherwise straight Quad, which provides a nice cherry twist on the style. Highly recommended.

Purple Haze. Decent brew. Almost too sweet though, I drink a bottle in 5 seconds.
