^yes people on here were pi$$ing me off by talking about how Gunner would only be used for recruiting this year. REALLY BECAUSE WE DON'T HAVE A QB.

I feel the only signal calling Rees will be doing for ND next year will be from the sidelines in a "Red Hat".

I blame the Hendrix INT on Kelly. You put this kid in for what, 4 plays all first half, of course when he gets in he's going to force it to make something happen. I called it before it happened, just like the floater to Floyd for the TD which should hav been picked.

I'm not one of these idiots who'll say BK needs to go, he doesn't. But I'd sure as hell like to hear why he managed the game like that.

Golson needs to start next year. Hendrix can back him up if he does not transfer. Rees needs to never see the field again. Kelly must feel comfortable with Rees as a sort of security blanket but it is pretty obvious the Rees just cannot do it.

you're right that should have been picked and the only reason it wasn't is b/c floyd is a stud and we are in big trouble finding a replacement for him...jones is a slot i don't care what ppl say he needs to play the slot and DD and DG need to grow up quickly cuz they will be needed to help fill the massive hole him graduating is leaving.

I agree that Gunner should have been a higher priority from the beginning of the recruiting cycle (mozy on over to that crazy diatribe I started and you'll see what I mean), but that doesn't excuse the really bad offensive output.

7 points, very little running game, a missed field goal, kick-offs not hitting the endzone, dropped catches, two turnovers in the endzone, all coming off long bye-week is the best this offense could muster?

The defense did their part (though the lack of blitz pressure in the 2nd half I think was a bad decision) up to the 3rd qtr. But if you told me the defense would hold FSU to under 20 and all the offense needed was 20 points, I would have thought a victory was certain.

Yea Floyd bailed Tommy out on that.....I suppose Floyd was making up for dropping that perfectly thrown pass that should have been a touchdown....

Sadly, I turned on ND in this game and instead of focusing on whether they won or lost, I cared only that it would become definitive that Rees would lose his job for next year. I don't think i can take next year with him as our QB.

I'm so tired of watching Rees run this offense and I'm tired of him getting 9 lives. He's not a good quarterback, he's slow, he can't handle pressure, and he's a turnover machine. I'm tired of watching a team in which the team's biggest liability is its QB. I'm tired of watching a spread offense run with a QB who can't run.

I was pretty upset Hendrix wasn't named starter for the Florida State game but i could rationalize it and thought they Kelly just wanted to officially kill Tommy in this game. He had his chance. Rees was terrible in the first half. Hendrix should've started the 2nd half for ND. Now, I'm just baffled. Hendrix is going to make mistakes and he did tonight but i can live with that and understand it as part of the learning experience because he also can make great plays and show great promise of how a Brian Kelly offense is supposed to be run.

Golson or Hendrix for QB in 2012. I don't care who. I'll support either. I can't support Tommy Rees anymore and the thought of him without Floyd to stare down is even more terrifying.

yea that happened so much...i'll give you that the one good throw tommy made his entire career was dropped. floyd made up for it, unlike rees did the 300 ints he's thrown in the red zone. high school QB's know better than that.

Shame on Brian Kelly for not giving Hendrix any opportunity for continuity earlier in the game (or in the season for that matter). The coach doesn't throw the ball, but its his job to prepare the QB's for these opportunities. The QB substitution pattern all season has been puzzling, and if Brian Kelly truly doesn't see it, this program will blow up fast.

Hendrix threw the ball right into the hands of the defender. Kelly didn't put blinders on the him, disabling his ability to have peripheral vision. It was a terrible throw. There's no way you can minimize that fact.

That being said, I don't think Rees or Hendrix are going to take us to the next level, but our problems our deeper than just the QB. It's obvious that beyond Eifert, we have no elite playmakers that have any experience coming back. Guys like Goodman and Toma are going to keep us in mediocrity if we don't have better talent in the pipeline. Our only hope is that Kelly is recruiting us out of this mess.

Sadly I dont think Hendrix is much of an upgrade

???
I would take hendrix any time over rees. Did he make a few mistakes? Yes. Did tommy make a crap ton? Heck yes! Hendrix shows potential. If he were ever allowed to play and get into a groove I think you would be delightfully surprised.

I've said it all year long, been negative repped, asked to leave the site numerous times, and I still stand by it... Brian Kelly made a mistake by not sticking with Crist.

Funny, I've done the same thing, but nobody ever negative repped me or asked me to leave. But, I agree. After the last two games, there's no way anybody can deny it now: we lost an entire year of quarterback development by playing our least talented QB. We should have stuck with Crist and, if he really was that bad (i.e. worse than Rees), transitioned to Hendrix halfway through the season when he was ready to go and chalked this one up as a lost year. Instead, we have a lost year anyway, and no QB ready to lead this team. This was VERY EASY to see coming, and my (and your) post history backs this up.

I was a bit more combative. I learned not to post immediately following a game, lol.

Lol, yes you were. The key to this site is remembering that it's just friendly conversation amongst (some very very passionate) ND fans. You came on early in the year like you were going to be able to change Kelly's mind. Lesson learned, hopefully Golson or Hendrix shows themselves to be the right guy this spring. Don't think Kelly can survive another year without a "the man" at QB.

I agree with you. I golston has to play next year or we are serious trouble. I think golston will add a threat of run and pass so the day will not be able to do key in on one thing. I said it before but this team is missing that fire that good teams have.

Hendrix is a definite upgrade from Rees. His worst moments are similar to the best from Rees. The ceiling for Rees seems to be the floor for Hendrix.

I understand your frustration, but come on. That was a horrible pass. Even if you are trying to make something happen you don't throw that pass. That INT was all on Hendrix. That being said, I can't wait to see him and Golson compete next year.

Hate to pile on a kid who is doing his best, and helped ND win some games, but I really hope Golson or Hendrix is the QB next year.
