I have a buddy like you... He stores everything and has gone through pleanty... what he does, which I think is funny, he'll take the old empty bottles of the prem. stuff and fill it with generic knock off brands and serve that to people who clearly just come over for a free drink... lol

That is pretty funny ****. I believe in helping people along on their whisky journey but I hate when people just keep trying to mooch.

You live in Redlands? My wife recently took a job at Loma Linda University Hospital so we are renting in Yucaipa until we figure out where to buy a home.

BTW, two of my best friends work at Loma Linda Hospital... (two of the others in this gorup of fools) I have family in Yucaipa

My fav has to be.... Years ago he bought a bottle of Bollinger Blanc, a good year I forget, late 90's... for something like 500 dollars...

It sat there for a while and then he inevitably drank it for some occasion now forgotten... since then this guy has been filling it with the most god awful champagne and serving it to the ladies of guests he doesn't much care for... some have been over many times and still haven't put two and two together... I mean at some point you'd think they'd want to see the damn cork fly right??? lol

He did the same with a real bottle of Everclear I smuggled in for him from Missouri years ago,... the stuff is illegal out here, so it's like a Cuban despite being nothing special... and he just filled it with crap for years... people Oh and Ah'd on that forever.

I think that I would be afraid to drink with this guy. It would be like watching a scary movie and never knowing what is going to happen next. Is it a good whisky in a bad bottle or the actual good whisky.

Mountain Dew. I am a pious man, unlike the rest of you sinners.

Just kidding, it's because I'm 20.

I could use a hard drink tonight. I'm currently out-processing the military and it's THE biggest pain in the *** so far. 18Dec cannot get here fast enough!

I own all of these whiskies. I have about 70+ bottles right now, down from my high of 150ish.

Sorry I couldn't quote your post as it kept giving me an error message.

Nice work! If you're ever in the D, I've got a glass of Jameson 18 yr for you.

Rarely do I drink, but when I do its simple Captain 100. So for the Championship I'm looking for suggestions of something new. Mmaybe something I can put up only for special ND games. Kid friendly (as in I can walk and function after a few.) Suggestions?

has anyone tried templeton rye? for about $35-$40 it is one of the most interesting whiskeys i've had. Really has a ton of character and will make your manhattan complex and full of delicious.

If you're a rum drinker, I'd suggest Cruzan Single Barrel.

If you're looking for something other than rum, I'd probably go with an Irish whiskey or a bourbon. Among Irish whiskeys, I'd start with Michael Collins 10y, Redbreast 12y, or Tullamore Dew 10y. For bourbon, I'd recommend Buffalo Trace, 1792 Ridgemont Reserve, or Old Forester. All of those bottles can be had for $20-40, so no big loss if you don't like it.

Templeton is pretty good. I prefer Russell's Reserve 6y Rye for a value sipper, and Wild Turkey 101 Rye for my Old Fashioned mixer.

Ever have Michter's Rye? it's growing in popularity, availability, and price. The 3 year is quite good, but the 10 year will blow you away.

That's the only Michters I've tried thus far, and yes, it was damned good. I just have a hard time spending $100 on a bottle of bourbon when there are so many good value options in the $20-40 price range.

My sister lives in Woodinville, WA. There is a micro-distillery there called The Woodinville Whisky Co. They have an amazing rye and a incredible straight bourbon. They also make a white bourbon that I didn't really care for. It was just okay. Anyone in WA - I highly recommend it.

Plus, if you catch it right in the tasting room, one of the most gorgeous women I have ever seen pours there. She is heavily tattooed (which I like, obviously) and she is super hot and really, really cool to talk to. Knows her stuff too. Also, poured pretty freely for me and my brother in law. And, no, I don't have pictures, sorry.
