His tweet had nothing to do with the tweet from the Carolina fan.

Huh... you're right. I read it today (now that I'm actually awake and sane) and the Tarheels fan wrote his remarks as a response to Keith's "I don't care" remark... not the other way around. Perhaps Keith's original remark had more to do with his seeming relationship problems that he was talking about on Twitter rather than either game.

I'm really sorry guys. Honest mistake. He never replied to the Tarheels fan.

Only a few hundred away. Georgia's going to have a great running attack for the next few years.

Re the ESPN interview, I don't know for a fact one way or the other, but if academics really matter to him, isn't ND a way better school than UGa?

you can still get a good education at UGA (not as good as ND) I mean Myron Rolle was a Rhodes Scholar at FSU. Just because someone cares about academics does not automatically mean they have fallen in love with Notre Dame.

Definitely true. But he pointedly mentioned he cares about academics as much as football (I'm paraphrasing), so it seems he's serious about it. So if it's ND, Fla, and UGa, I'd guess ND is the top school, academics-wise, depending, I guess, on what he wants to study. It's not as though he's considering ND, Stanford, and Northwestern.

Also, he's starting school in January so he can get playing time next fall, and ND has Gray's slot ready for him. I don't know what kind of offense Georgia runs, but know they've got a great freshman feature RB in Crowell (assuming he can avoid future off the field trouble). Of course, everyone can use two (or more) great backs. Hope the Irish get him.

Social desirability. Almost all kids that are getting interviewed and asked what they're looking for will say academics. Of course there are the few, the proud, who actually mean it but for most it's tongue in cheek. Take it with a grain of salt.

Re the ESPN interview, I don't know for a fact one way or the other, but if academics really matter to him, isn't ND a way better school than UGa?

This depends on whether he is approaching the question as a football player who wants to make sure he is getting a college degree, an investor who wants to get the most valuable possible degree, or a student who wants to really learn.

In the first case, I am sure that UGA under Richt would be fine for a kid with Marshall's values. He'll graduate with a degree either way. Toss-up.

In the second case, Notre Dame has a much higher ranking, a much better graduation rate, and a much better graduate earning rate. Huge advantage ND.

In the third case, there are just too many variables to measure and it all depends on the kid, the major, the teachers, etc. Toss-up , but lean ND, since it is a smaller, more intimate liberal arts school.

In other words, there is a difference between being serious about getting a degree, getting the most degree, and getting the best education. You can hypothetically go anywhere to get a great education,a nd you'll get a degree if the coaches are committed to seeing it happen, but you can't go anywhere and get a Harvard diploma.

Georgia run's a pro style offense(he runs a spread in high school) which many top runningbacks want to play in because that is what the pros run. Also he would be more of Cierre type of runner not Gray and Crowell is more of a powerback so those two would work much better together.

Though I like your opinion and it makes me feel like nd should be superior in this kids mind

Still don't know where all this comes from. The name on your degree only is relevant to us mere mortals. College football stars are taken care of well beyond college in SEC country.

*I am willing to bet tons of money that Marshall would get hired over an Ivy grad for virtually any job in the state of Georgia after he graduates. I do realize the connections an ND grad would have and the leg up that it gives them, but don't kid yourself, SEC "grads" do alright despite their schools reputation if they could play a little fooseball.

Especially a job with the falcons (as a runningback)?

That is completely ridiculous.

Depends on the job. Sales job? Probably true. For any job that requires any sort of technical knowledge, though, I don't think this is true at all.

They get hired on, at $75,000 a year, to be a "Supervisor" for the City/County/State. What they supervise is very much a matter of contention.
