So, I took the plunge. Engaged as of two weeks ago. Already faced with the common issues any couple would have (dates, venue, etc.). The central issue we are faced with now is choosing the date, as it is likely going to fall on the ND/UM game in 2014.
As a background, I went to UM and have been in Ann Arbor for about 7 years while I finish up law school. The now fiance went to UM as well, and is an absolute die-hard scUM fan. For any of you that don't know, I have remained true to my ND roots and dislike Michigan as much as the next ND fan - trust me. However, we are going to get married on campus in Ann Arbor at one of the older venues and need to pick a date. We are looking at next September.
Unfortunately, the venue we really like is only open on the Saturday during the ND/UM game next year. There will be a lot of Michigan fans and a lot of ND fans at this wedding. A lot. We would LOVE to have an early ceremony, do a sort of tailgate/cocktail hour for a 3:30 PM ND/UM game, then have our reception. The problem is, I think this will be a night game. I doubt there is any inside info on this board as to when this game might be, but I really think its going to be at night. If it is, having our reception at night during this game would probably suck. I don't know if anyone has had experience with having a wedding on a game day, but I know people will be completely distracted.
The other option is to have it at the same venue on October 18 (Michigan bye, we play Syracuse, meh). Do I say screw it and make everyone suffer (including myself), and take the chance the game will be at night? Or just do it later in October and risk ****** weather?
