Newer board software will take you to the last post you read, even if it's halfway down the page. As an example, if you've read a thread and the last post you saw was Post # 175 on Page 3, and people respond to it while you're gone (Say...responses going up to Post #189), the next time you come back to that thread and click on it the site's software will remember and take you to Page 3 automatically and scroll down to Post #175 so you're not rereading old posts. Saves time, you don't have to figure out where you last left off.

This site used to do exactly that. What TH happened?

Does anyone know if this Jason Pham still exist? I'm getting the impression that he just doesn't give AF.

Pham isn't the site owner. He still pops in every once in awhile, and he's the one that has the owner's contact info. Mods have a way to get in touch with Pham, but not the site owner I guess. Phammer is a decent dude, used to post more frequently.

Honestly we just need a changing of the guard... Need to get a price and then band together and pay them off or start all over IMO.

Yeah, this crap has to stop. It's been just over a week now without a resolution. That's ridiculous, and it's a shame the mod's hands are tied. If the owner won't sell we need someone to step up and make a new site. It's a bad look, and it can't be good for attracting visitors to the site when a big security warning hits you.

Why can't we get the cert fixed, then negotiate site ownership

We could easily just jump sites. One in particular has little traffic, upgraded forum.... Just need to do an IE invasion/migration. The only pain would be having to move the profiles. But Crus has all the backup. Personally, I'd be willing to help rebuild the old stuff.

But are the owners present and invested? We need a dedicated poster or team of posters to run the show, people that are here at least semi-regularly and are actually invested in whether or not the site is running smoothly.

IDK. We need to reach out to the board IMO. I'm sure some of the mods who are already heavily invested in IE would be welcome by new owners, and could retain their mod/leader status. Couldn't be any worse. We have great mods here, who can only get to IE ownership through Pham, who is not around a lot.

If nobody wants to reach out, I'd be happy too if folks are seriously interested in hopping sites.

Wherever we go or don't go I'd like to see the owners invested and present. That kind of rules out any 3rd parties.

Non-fans owning the site never works out well in the end. The Texas Longhorn site, Shaggy Bevo, got taken over because they were running the server off some businessman's setup on the side. Some shit went down, the owner decided to take it out on the guy running the site and he won the rights to the website in a legal battle. All the posters packed up and started Surly Horns which is in much better hands with an invested owner/poster.

Agreed. But I'd be perfectly fine with a silent/anonymous owner so long as they had good communication with mods and simply paid for the f'ing certs on time lol. An active owner can cut both ways.

So this is fixed or did my work laptop just give up on warning me?

It should be fixed, it’s fixed for me.

If we lose to Clemson in the rematch I’ll become superstitious that an expired certificate is good luck.

Not exactly the thread topic but it might have some small relevance: I used to do a lot of "boring logging" in my work researching UFOs, mysteries et al. So i don't mind scrawling down lists and picking things out. For the helluva it, I did the IE membership list. There are greater than 10000 names there which don't count any banned users. The vast majority of these people have posting numbers of around zero. There are 80 members listed across time who have posted greater than 5000 times in their IE careers. Looking at that group probably tells you what IE really is --- it's those 80 or so posters (many of them also defunct, and some like our beloved BGIF passed on.) There were also 19 others who had posted between 4000 and 5000 times. If you like to be "Pythagorean" you could designate those 99 the foundation of the IE Cosmos (for better or worse.) Crazy number posters (esp someone like Kuenja) who were all-too-regular and banned would not be listed.

Here are the posters with the most posts historically:
BGIF (43957)
ACamp (42139)
LAX (30135)
something called "IE" (27860)
Crusader (25136)
YJ (24388)
Irish#1 (23821)
LuckyLucci (20095)
Wizards (20042)
ulukinatme (18847)
Whiskeyjack (18724)
ShermSticky (17889)
Woolybug (17689)
Irishff1014 (16247)
PANDFAN (15881)
dublinirish (15436)
IrishLion (15305)

Big posters generate 2700-2800 posts per year (Crusader more). I suppose we all recognize that the quality of some of these posts differs wildly. Some posters seem to live on site waiting a chance to type "I Agree" or "LOL" (NoDa's signature.) Some big number posters seem to just want to belong and be loved, while others seem just to want to be irritating and unloved. So, the quality in the list of 99 definitely differs as to contributions to a healthy football information rich site.

Perhaps of no significance, but 40% of the big numbers posters on the site joined in 2011 or 2010. In both years there are twice as many big numbers posters than any of the other years.

A random thought: the post production numbers for some people would indicate that they are posting eight or nine times a day (and this is not just warriors like Crusader or LAX who are clearly productive though hopefully without IE widows at home.) Each person should of course meditate on just how healthy this addiction is. For me and my 6000+ posts over eleven years, that's between one and two posts per day, and for me is probably at least a venial sin. :=}

I was surprised to see that I, a Bama fan, made the top 100, though just barely. I'm making up for the lack of quantity with my obvious wit, genius, good looks, and humility.

I have a confession to make. I have a monogram ND hat that I wear for every game. In fact, I wear this hat everywhere...and everyday. It's rare people see me with a combed head of hair.

Saturday I was busy packing up the rest of my house, we're in the process of building a new one nearby. I tend to go to a "backup" hat when I'm getting sweaty because I don't want to dirty by "daily driver" ND hat...so I wore an old tOSU cap all day. I kept it on for the game and forgot to swap out...and now I'm having second thoughts about my ND hat. Might have to burn that thing.

I see you've been playing the long game, troll!
You've been a welcome poster over the years, it's always nice seeing perspectives from outside the community. Someone rep this man for me, I can't yet.

I'm deep cover. Another year or so of the long con and I'll flip ACamp to Crimson or kill him. Makes no difference to me. :)

Next month will be my 8 year anniversary here. I dropped in before the NC game just to see what the enemy thought about our upcoming match. Somehow ended up staying and making a friend or two along the way. This is a good place, even for an old Bama guy.

I used to pop over at Buckeye Planet after one of the admins invited a bunch of Irish posters over from a now defunct site. This was prior to the Fiesta Bowl in '05. I posted over there quite regularly for 10 years, being from Ohio I've got a lot of Buckeye friends and some family. For years they were mostly all really cool, but near the end a number of their posters became completely intolerant of non-Buckeye fans and just about any non-tOSU fans basically got run off the site or they were constantly baited to try and get themselves banned. I never took the bait, but I walked away once it became obvious I was no longer welcome. I was always fair and level headed my discussion, and often acknowledged ND's struggles during that time period, so I certainly wasn't "drinking the Kool-Aid" and being a nuisance.

I did happen to return for the first time Saturday night. One of their posters was saying some negative things about the Irish or the fans and I left a little troll message behind to the effect of, "How many wins does tOSU have against Clemson all time? I'll show myself out again." They don't care much for Clemson, doesn't help that Woody Hayes was fired after punching a Clemson player. I'd like to say it was a long con, but I genuinely did like posting there when the posters were welcoming. Probably banned now, they've booted rival posters for less ha. A long time Gator fan got the axe for just telling the truth about the messy business tOSU coaches were sweeping under the rug when it came to player domestic issues and the Tat-Gate cover up.

That was me. I was pretty active the first several years but now I just lurk around mostly. I do kinda feel like a Grandpa of IE though since I've been here since 07. Who is the oldest active member?
