They open up with Bama next season, they play at Oregon, at Utah and at UCLA and of course ND at home. They will probably lose 3 of those.

Honest question, how good will Oregon be next year? They are losing quite a bit offensively if I'm not mistaken, especially with Herbert and their beastly LT (name escapes me at the moment and too lazy to do one of them Googles.)

I don't see them losing to UCLA, but Bama, Utah and ND will be tough outs.

Could be a monster showdown in LA next year, though. They're certainly loaded at the skill positions if they get a healthy JTD back.

I think UCLA should be pretty good they are gonna have a ton of returning players as majority of their team is fresh and sophomores right now

Yeah i think they are one of, if not the, youngest team(s) in the country right now...

Out of USC's eleven verbal commits for the 2020 class, seven are offensive linemen - five OTs and two OGs.

Here's all of their offered and where they have committed.

OT Commits and their positional ranking per 247
Joey Wrigtht #57
Caadyn Stephen #56
Andres Dewerk #93
Casey Collier #95
Andrew Milek #101

OG Commits and positional ranking
Jonah Manheim #25
Kyle Juergens #97

All are rated three stars except Manheim, a four star. Juergens may switch to the DL.

They are still recruiting the OL with OVs from these OT recruits.
Alex Harrison #64 - USC OV 11/23, Utah St is fav (others - Utah, Oregon)
Courtland Ford #53 - USC OV 12/6, in top 4 (w. Minn, Purdue, SMU)

Drew Richmond and Jacob Daniel have exhausted their eligibility while Austin Jackson, Andrew Vorhees, Alijah Vera-Tucker and Jalen McKenzie are all draft eligible. Jackson may be the only lineman with the potential for leaving early. The numbers in the trenches are low. Excluding the graduating seniors, the Trojans return only 12 offensive linemen from the 2019 roster. - three are walkons and one is a transfer and all those are third stringers. In the last two classes, USC obtained commitments from only four offensive linemen.

USC waiting so long to keep Helton has done more damage than actually keeping Helton. No one can recruit when everyone thinks you're gone already.

You mean Utah. It would be laugh out loud funny though if USC was trying and failing to peel a kid away from Utah State.

Alex Harrison 247 profile

The other uncommitted OT who's visited USC , Courtland Ford, had some issues as a result of two knee surgeries that has affected his mobility and agility in camp and was a commit to LSU. Ford's other OV is to Minnesota.

Interesting thoughts from the Cowherd podcast on FS1. Mentioned bringing in Morgan Scalley from Utah to turn the defense around. Here’s some guys to look at if I’m the USC AD.

OC/QB Graham Harrell

RB Frank Wilson - UTSA HC
RB Derrick Nix - Ole Miss
RB Donte Pimpleton - FSU

WR Drew Mehringer - Texas
WR Ron Dugans - Miami

TE Barry Lunney Jr - Arkansas
TE Corby Meekins - Texas

OL Steve Addazio - BC HC
OL Matt Luke - Ole Miss HC
OL Tim Drevno

DL Tosh Lupoi - Cleveland Browns
DL Raymond Woodie - FSU
DL Odell Haggins - FSU

LB Johnny Nansen

DC/DB Morgan Scalley - Utah
DB Fran Brown - Temple
DB Harlon Barnett

I like the implementation of the Air Raid offense. I think it’ll take time and it’ll click for this group. I think the rest of the positions should be loaded with recruiters because they’ve gotten away from it and it’s gonna be tougher and tougher against Oregon and Washington. Frank Wilson was just fired but he was at one point one of the best RB recruiting coaches in the country. Drew Mehringer and Dugans can both recruit a whole bunch along with Lunney and Meekins. Also I think USC hiring Morgan Scalley would be very good for their future. If I’m an AD I’d love to see a staff looking like...

HC Clay Helton
OC/QB Graham Harrell
RB Frank Wilson
WR Drew Mahringer
TE Barry Lunney Jr
OL Tim Drevno
DL Tosh Lupoi
DL Raymond Woodie
LB Johnny Nansen
DC/DB Morgan Scalley
DB Fran Brown

That would be a top flight staff of young and hungry recruiters and would do some serious damage on the trail.

It is wild to me that USC is doing this poorly on the trail. As an ND fan who grew up in the 2000s, I never thought I'd see the day.

Watch Helton do just well enough to avoid getting fired due to on-field performance, but then still get canned like Willingham for getting clowned on the recruiting trail.

it's difficult to recruit when you have no idea what type of offense the new head coach will be running as they likely only kept him this year because of their schedule next year

Cowherd is the biggest USC pumper of all time, even though he won't be direct about it.

All of his "ideas" he's had regarding USC never come true, either. Too close to the forest.

I can't prove this, but I think he thinks he knows better than the USC administration, and puts his wish list out there so there's public pressure to interview/consider those candidates. I really believe he thinks this.

Aren't they off to a great start with the 2021 class though?

Harrell to Texas would be excellent for our prospects in the Coliseum next year.

I became a ND fan in 2005. I never thought I'd see the day we were a thoroughly better program than USC from top to bottom in every facet of the game (with the exception of a slight raw talent edge in skill position players to USC).

ON your 2nd paragraph-that's exactly what Fox News does with Trump. Probably where he got the idea.

A low 3-star decommiting from USC because of program instability -- the times they are a changin...

Some estimate USC's class will be thirteen without attrition from current roster. Two decommits bookended around Courtland Ford's OV - Joey Wright, OT (57) and Kyle Juergens (97). Juergens was being recruited by the DL coach. Courtland Ford (53) has had multiple injuries and difficulties in LSU's camp leading to his decommitment there and concerns he may not return to prior form.

USC is pursuing Alex Harrison (64) who has set his commitment announcement. The other OL commits are Monheim (25, OG), OTs Stephen (56), Dewerk (93), Collier (95), Milek (101). All but Stephen have Tim Drevno listed as their recruiter. Drevno was OL coach at Michigan under Harbaugh ('15-'17). Drevno was the recruiter for a couple of Michigan verbal commits (Hamilton and Herbert) both of whom "decommited" a couple of weeks before NSD to make room for higher ranked commits. Meritocracy.

Losing Ron Yary's son, Jack (TE), also spoke volumes to USC fans. Positional rankings in parentheses per 247.

Could you imagine the melt down that would be going on here if that was the class CBK was about to ink? Lord have mercy.

Last time I checked they were still convinced that the typical late USC crooting period magic will bring them up significantly in the rankings. I would be less sure after the last few days...

If you read the article, it sounds like SC wasn't heavily recruiting anymore. It even states Helton has visited several local commitments since the open period on Dec. 1 and he hasn't even heard from SC. They had yet to even set up an official visit date either. Writing was on the wall so he is bailing.

Two of the last remaining 4* USC leans they hoped would bolster their class, Darion Green-Warren and LV Bunkley-Shelton, are now CB'ed to Michigan and ASU respectively after visits to those schools.

At this point, going only off CBs, USC would add Gary Bryant Jr., Jack Yary, Justin Houston and Sefita Tupe. Assuming they all committed tomorrow, USC would only have the 40th best class. But realistically, other schools ranked around there (Kansas is 42nd!) would add more kids and pass them.

Fully prepared to eat crow on this one, but boy are USC's beat writers drinking the koolaid. Here's the percent chance their 247 guy gives for each recruit to end up USC, compared to the crystal ball (an aggregate of beat writers of all stripes) https://247sports.com/Article/USC-f...C-Justin-Flowe-Darion-Green-Warren-140658255/

Bryce Young- 40% chance vs. 15%
Justin Flowe- 55% chance(!!!) vs. 16%
Bijan Robinson- 25% chance vs. 6%

Bijan to SC is a real possibility. I’d bet on it.
