OMG check out his instagram ...

Instagram

In the caption he said that Sark treated him like a "slave." People are ripping him a new one in the comments for throwing out the S word.

Literally, not a better time to announce '2/3/4 players cleared of academic investigation, per ND statement'.

Brown Calls Sark Racist, Sark Shocked
USC's Anthony Brown quit the Trojans football team on Thursday and then took to his Instagram account to call out first-year head coach Steve Sarkisian.

Brown deleted the post after it went viral. Here's a screenshot.

Sarkisian was asked about the situation following practice and said he was "shocked" that Brown would say something like that and that he tried to help him. Recently, Brown was moved from cornerback to running back. Out of high school, he projected fairly high at both positions.

I don't put much stock in the emotional social media postings of college students after they've made a highly-emotional decision. That's just my take on the matter.

But it's an unfortunate situation for USC all the way around in the aftermath of the Josh Shaw storytelling fiasco. The Trojans (to the relief of everyone who cares about that program) hit the field this Saturday for the season opener against Fresno State at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.

What a splendid way to start Sark's era at USC! Hopefully we hand him a loss this year too.

How are these two situations comparable? Shaw lied to save his own skin. Manti was the victim of a malicious hoax and our blood thirsty media. Perhaps the lesson is to start doing journalism and stop printing press releases, ya fookin' hacks.

You really believe that? I don't by any means think that Manti knew the whole thing was a hoax but he certainly portrayed their "relationship" as much more serious than "never actually met in real life" in the media.

Not supposed to grab over 25 per class. So if that were true, it would take a couple of years.

But in the real world you have stacks of cash versus not being able to fill an 85 man roster without over recruiting, so all bets are off!

Because in both situations the media did not do their due diligence, whether the source of the information knew they were lying or not.

Difference is, in the Josh Shaw case, "the media" that broke the story and never bothered to check it out was basically a PR arm of the USC athletic department. Other journalists started getting tips it was bogus almost immediately, and fleshed this out.
Deadspin should have done better due diligence on the Te'o story, but in their defense they had a somewhat competitive situation and no expectation that Te'o/Notre Dame would cooperate. In this case, USC pushed out a story glorifying a team captain without even taking a minute to apply the smell test. Just stupid.

Why Anthony Brown Called Steve Sarkisian A Racist

Sarkisian never used any racial slurs.

As if the USC football program hadn't filled enough headlines this week, head coach Steve Sarkisian became the social media target of running back Anthony Brown Wednesday night and Thursday morning.

Brown, a backup redshirt senior who played cornerback for the Trojans last season, was later confirmed to no longer be on the team.

But why did Brown post on his Facebook Wednesday night "Couldn't play for a racist man!!!!!!!!!!! #Fighton" and then post an orange photo on Instagram with white writing that read "Couldn't play for a racist man!!!!" with the caption "Sark treated me like a slave in his Office...Can't play for a racist MAN!!!!! #Fighton"?

(Both messages have since been deleted.)

What prompted the fifth-year USC Trojan to go on a rant directed at his head coach?

According to USC, Anthony Brown, who has been out with an injury for more than a week, quit the team last week, but Brown said he had a meeting with Sarkisian on Tuesday.

Here's what he told ATVN reporter McKenna Keil in a phone interview Thursday(transmuted from her tweets):

Anthony Brown told me over the phone that Sarkisian "was just going off the charts, he called me a coward several times. I never felt like that, 23 years old, and I've never been talked to like that. He said a lot of things that put me in a situation where I was belittled, like trash, like I'm nobody. He told me to get the f*** out of his office, I just got up and left and said yes sir, thank you ... I didn't quit."

I asked Brown if he wanted to try and resolve things with Sarkisian. Brown said, "I can't really talk to a guy who treats me like that. The way he talked to me was not respectful at all ... I felt like a slave. I wish somebody recorded it honestly. It was just so disrespectful, I was shocked.

Why did Brown feel Sarkisian was racist? "He [Sarkisian] was like stereotyping my family from Mississippi, the way he was using coward toward me, the way he was treating me. The way he was mentioning my mom and bringing my mom into the situation ... just everything. Honestly I walked out of his office like 'wow, did this really just happen' ... I was shocked, you know."

Anthony Brown later talked with TMZ and had even more scathing remarks on why he believed Sarkisian was racist:

"When I walked in the room he said, 'You have the f**king guts to walk in here -- coward."

Brown continues, "The way he was talking to me ... it was like a slave master talking to his slave."

According to Brown, Sarkisian never used the N-word or any other racial slur ... but feels the overall "tone" was racist.

Three weeks ago, USC held its first scrimmage of Fall Camp in the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and I chatted with Anthony Brown about the decision to make a position switch to running back and how the transition to the offensive side of the ball was going.

The interview was for a story idea I had that never materialized. Nonetheless, Brown's answers about the switch to offense and his thoughts on Sarkisian are interesting in light of Thursday's events:

That's all Brown just projecting. Nothing there seemed to indicate racism. Sark never used pejorative terms like the n word, "boy", etc.

Sounds like an unhappy student-athlete and a coach who comes down hard on players.

USC issued a press release on its athletic website at 3:30 p.m. local time on Monday. Not long after, someone called to question the veracity of the report: Josh Shaw. In the story, since expunged from USC’s site, Shaw is described as landing on the pool deck and then crawling to the pool. Shaw phoned to say that such phrasing was melodramatic, that he had not crawled to the pool, suggesting that the phrase “made his way to the pool” be used instead.

Kid was committed to the lie big time.

I agree. The only section that made you wonder at all was the section that mentions stereotyping his family from Mississippi and the stuff about his Mom. Unless he were to give some details about that, then crys of racist seems a bit far fetched.
