Those would the ones who ignored the facts and supported the cause. Wearing the shirts to cry for media attention. such as lebron, rose,

Yeah like Muffett and the women's basketball team. The recent events between police and unarmed citizens, stand your ground, and the cold blooded murder of the two NYPD cops are not strictly race issues or a race war, as much as some idiots would like to make it one. There are legitimate fundamental issues about things like: what should it mean to live in a free society, equal protection under the law, the militarization of police, actions and over reactions, things that should supersede race, but aren't as easy to package and consume for the small minded. But it is pretty obvious how you see all this!

Tom Coughlin is wearing a black stripe on his left shoulder and a peace sign button underneath the NY logo.

Exactly. Some people seem think that if you question any of these issues (as well as 4th amendment rights) you're some kind of anti-police, Al Sharpton loving, race baiter. There seems to be little room for a nuanced view.

That being said, prayers to the family of the victims. As a firefighter, I see the difficult job LEOs have and shit like this definitely won't make it any easier.

To be fair, I've also seen the same type of rhetoric said about those who vocally support the police as racist, etc.

No, it won't be easier but their job was made much more difficult earlier after they've been blasted for months by people like Sharpton and de Blasio. When you have protestors scream we want dead police and now there are two dead cops, how else are the police supposed to respond?

Everyone is a potential target in my eyes. I have to be this way. If I want to stay alive, I have to act like I'm in a war zone. I've been left with no other choice. What de Blasio and all the rest of the leaders did was no different then Mike Browns stepdad yelling burn this bitch down. No different.

I've been on the streets. I've had that target. I've been attacked. I know the feeling. At the end of the day, I have to make it home to my kids no matter what. I didn't turn this into a war but now I have to defend myself and respond like I'm in one.

Dude, to you and yours thanks, and keep doing whatever you gotta do to go home at night...ALL OF YOU.

Deblasio, Sharpton, Jackson, Farrakhan ...now that cops were hurt and died because of their rhetoric, they will back-pedal so fast, they'll slow the earth's rotation..and prove just what opportunistic punks they truly are...I've already seen the President and the AG check themselves...so these morons will get in line...There will be conciliatory words to law enforcement, there will be ..."you took me out of context", there will be all manner of machinations. But the truth is THEY contributed to a warzone mentality instead of preventing one...when there were some systemic issues that required thoughtful consideration and real leadership, they pandered and devided...

No one needed Deblasio, Sharpton, Jackson, Farrakhan to get to constructive ideas to address perceived bias...its time they get run, so to speak. New York City should recall Deblasio...he can no longer be an effective executive...if he cared about New York City he'd put his head down, and exit the back door, never to be seen again. As for the Moe, Larry, and Curly of race relations...its time to put them down and move on....other leaders who can envision more hope and unite exist...these guys are no good.

The militarization of police you are crying about was forced by situations such as Ferguson. The police are the first available resources to stop these type incidents. The national guard takes to long to be granted authority to respond an then to make a response.

Truth. I'm trying very hard to have a measured reaction here. But just thinking about the families of those two people this close to Christmas makes me lean towards anger more than any other emotion.

Want to know how to drive people away from sympathy? Go murder two innocent "for the cause." Unreal.

Haven't read through enough of this thread to know whether this had been said, but 99.999% of the people that were upset that there were no charges in the Garner or Brown cases are equally disgusted by this. There is a desire for justice from the legal system, not to circumvent the legal system and go to war with law enforcement. This asshole doesn't represent anyone but his own sick, deranged self. My sympathies to these officers' families. This was not any sane person's idea of justice.

What's sad to me is that there were hundreds... maybe even thousands... of people who liked or commented positively on the Instagram post before it was taken down. So I'll buy that 99% of people disagree with the killing but there's a much larger portion of people than I had hoped who applauded the murders as just deserts.

Those people are cowards. People say stupid things when they're upset and when they have anonymity, but you would be hard pressed to find a dozen people to go on record saying they think it is a good thing to kill a cop. Even if you don't particularly like and revere cops, they're human beings with families and a right not to be gunned down in the street.

As noted earlier there was no connection between the NYC killings and the killing of a Florida cop who was shot and run over by a felon

Just like there was no connection between the killings of Trayvon Martin, Michael Brown, Tamir Rice, and Eric Garner.

Not that you ever claimed there was, but for the benefit of a lot of others who did.

Yeah, the murder of these innocent officers was truly heinous and despicable, but it's also appalling how many people are applauding and cheering the act. I read some of the eyewitness stories where people said "They deserved it," and "Serves them right." Just sad...makes me wish that someday some of those people may find themselves needing police protection or assistance, but maybe they won't receive it as the police aren't able to answer the request due to lack of able bodies. If I was a cop in NYC right now, I'd probably quit and move to another town. Hell, I can't imagine being in that profession at all at this time.

This...I can't imagine who would want to be in law enforcement at this point. There's a chance that you could be dead at any minute of the day. Pretty sad state of affairs. Hat's off to those who wear the badge...our only barrier between chaos/anachy and peace.

Did you see the video from St. Louis, maybe it was Ferguson, of people walking through the streets chanting Pigs in a Blanket and something like Fry Them Up.

Didn't see it, but there was this one from NYC with Rev. Al behind the banner. Sharpton claims they've only stressed non-violence at his rallies, but he didn't do anything about this:

This is disgusting. There's a lot of anger and hatred and frustration from both sides, but this shit just pours fuel on the fire and is indefensible.

I think Yolanda should be stripped of police protection, then we'll see how much she hates cops. I mean even if you have a legitimate issue with the cops...why would you do this to a 13 y/o trying to honor his DAD...

I'll be heading to the confessional, because I couldn't help but think of this woman getting hit by an ice truck...and thinking that'd be JUSTICE!

Some cops/sheriffs give law enforcement a bad rep. In the jail system, the sheriffs that have to run it do some fucked up shit to inmates. They beat the shit out of them and then when that inmate gets out they hate all cops, even if there are some good ones. I have seen an inmate straight break a sheriffs jaw with a headbutt. The guy was already handcuffed but they still beat the shit out of him for a few minutes just for retaliation with their 'nigger beaters' as they call them.

I can understand the mistrust in law enforcement because of a small few that tarnish the reputation of he entire force. It is because of those bad seeds that innocent ones get harmed or are put in more jeopardy. There needs to be better checks and balances for law enforcement given that they are afforded more authority and power over the general public.

I could be misunderstanding your post but are you blaming cops for this culture of violence?

...I mean I think Al Sharpton is scum, but he isn't stupid...this would be monumentally stupid....would like to see who claims he was there when they were chanting "Kill Cops"...

I was actually blaming a small few cops/sheriffs for the mistrust in them altogether. It only takes a few bad seeds to tarnish the entire organization. The result is violence unfortunately.
