I'd love a logo.

I think a giant clover would be cooler. And the leprachaun would be the coolest, but our color scheme against a perfectly green field would potentially be the coolest look in college football.

I could see a shamrock at midfield.

I do to because I'd argue it builds the ND brand more than, say, a clover would. Although the clover is a better look, IMO.

I am completely on board with this and it is also my best guess as to what they will more than likely put at the 50 if they do a logo. It is the most "classy" in my opinion

I would put a million vbucks on the field not having a logo, a shamrock would look fantastic though

Is there a way to put a logo down and then take it out later on? Or to add a logo in periodically?

I think it would actually be cool if they put a logo at midfield for special occasions. Like a big middle finger when Michigan comes to town, or a crying baby when BC plays. Ya know, something classy that still screams "We're ND and you're not."

But seriously, I like the idea of having a logo for senior day or big games or something like that.

They should put the graduation rate at midfield, and ROI in the endzones.

Or a picture of Lou. Whatever works.

Not to make too much of this but Jack Swarbricks response to Jack Nolans question of "will there be logos on the new field?" was somewhat telling in my opinion. He said "I wouldn't expect to see anything that's significantly different from what, what people think of as our traditional field, although over time we've had a lot of different fields here." Translation . . . Stripes in the end zones and an interlocking blue and gold ND at the 50 yard line.

So in that video clip, Jack alluded to having different designs on the field throughout the years.

I've never watched a ND game pre-mid 90s (although you probably know this from the Terry Hanratty debacle).

Does anyone know exactly what different designs have been on the field at some point and time?

I know of two end zone designs from the past. The first was a white ND monogram in the extreme left corner of each end zone.

EndZone3.jpg

They left the rest of the endzone (including the right corner, no logo over there, completely blank).

I believe they did this only for the 1990 season for an anniversary occasion.

Another design that I've seen is from 1977:

EndZone4.jpg

The leprechaun inside a yellow football with "Fighting Irish" in yellow beneath that. I'm almost positive that they did a couple other designs in the 70's as well but I don't have the evidence right now.

All seriousness though. Leave the end zones alone and put the ND logo in the middle. That'd look nice

I guess I would be ok with an interlocking ND or a simple shamrock.

Key word... Simple. It's the classiest stadium in football... not a Starter jacket.

Ok Rikki through a generous donation I now have a little change to toss around. So a million vbucks on me saying that there will be a logo on the field and you saying there will not. You up for it?

Great find, I was hoping someone would post past logos.

Lol, if Wooly will allow it, the board of trustees will be a breeze.
