GOP is going to trot out Nikki Haley with Ben Sasse as VP to trying to win back suburban women. The GOP wisely realized they were getting obliterated by women candidates (see: Michigan 2018) and have done a really good job of putting women on the ballot ever since.

Haley and Sasse will win the red hatted MAGAs?

They won't criticize trump, they'll instead stick up for ever trumpers, radicals, white nationalists and hill jacks.
They choose their tribe over American Democracy.

They think race riots are the same. I don't condone any rioting but this is just an overdue payback riot.

“People were willing to die for this man and he just threw them all under the bus. That’s the only thing that’s shameful about the events of the past 36 hours,” Nick Fuentes, the host of the America First podcast and the unofficial leader of the white nationalist Groyper Army, angrily tweeted, shortly after Trump released a video Thursday night in which he conceded that Biden would be the next president and called for political reconciliation.

Cassandra Fairbanks, a prominent MAGA activist, tweeted: “[He] tells angry people to march to the capitol [and then] proceeds to throw his supporters under the bus.”

From: ‘Coward’: MAGA internet turns on Trump (Politico)

Vice President Pence is now a traitor.

Trump days before the election during a campaign rally in Bullhead, Arizona,:
"I'm not just running against Joe Biden. I'm running against the left-wing mob and the left-wing media, the big tech giants, and I'm also running against the RINOs. Do you know what RINO is? A RINO may be the lowest form of human life."

Just some random thoughts I have with everything going on, feel free to pass over them as they're not directly related to the events, but want to write it out somewhere.

I am conservative on most issues, but am liberal on some. For example, I am very liberal with immigration. I've always been anti-Trump, but tolerated him for the most part because I didn't have a problem with some of his policies that were pushing through-- the way I looked at it at least, some good was getting done with the bad, despite how embarrassing he was. I didn't vote for him either election, but I did vote congressionally for losing Republicans the last three. I don't know if I can continue to do that though until the party really takes a deep look in the mirror. The fact that I can count the amount of Republicans who make sense on one hand is scary, and it seems as the left continues to get elected well educated socialists, the right's response is to elect idiot conspiracy theorists. It's not even the events at the capitol that have pushed me away. It's the continual lying over voter fraud by the president, literally pushing conspiracy theories, while the majority of republican elected officials supported them to gain points with Trump supporters rather than speak what they know is true. The events at the capitol are just the straw that broke the camel's back. I don't think I can ever vote Republican again as long as Trumpism is embraced. I would gladly welcome a center third party, but don't see how that works here.

What term would you like you use for people waving the Confederate flag and wearing Nazi shirts who stormed the US Capitol and unlawfully occupied both chambers of Congress in an attempt to overthrow the government and install someone who wasn't elected as President?

Retards - I mean really, can anyone be more obviously mentally retarded?

A West Virginia Republican state representative, Delegate Derrick Evans, has been charged in connection with Wednesday’s rioting at the Capitol, NBC’s Pete Williams reports.

Richard Barnett, who was seen sitting at a desk in Speaker Pelosi’s office, has been arrested in Arkansas and charged with entering and remaining on restricting grounds, violent entry, and theft of public property -- NBC's Pete Williams reports.

Illinois GOP Rep. Mary Miller apologizes for her remarks praising Hitler at pro-Trump rally

Here we go.

Josh Hawley was the face of the ultraconservative establishment. He sees the opportunity to fill the Trumper void and is trying to take it. It's him or Cruz right now. Either or both beat a Haley/Sasse ticket or whatever else Republicans used to be.

Ivanka or Roger Stone could unseat Marco Rubio in a primary.

This is where the GOP is right now. It ain't good. Trump took over the party by leaps and bounds compared to Bernie's reach with the Democrats. If the DNC "rigged it" against Bernie, they were far more successful than any attempt the RNC made to stop Trump in his tracks.

Heart of the matter: Republican voters like Trump way more than Dem voters like Bernie.

Guys! He unironically just came full circle to "but her emails"....

More people have now died on 1/6/21 than during the Benghazi raid.

I take zero comfort or pleasure in saying that, but it is a talking point worth mentioning considering the time and tax payer money that was spent on hearings and investigations into Benghazi.

The Congressional hearings on the Capitol Raid are going to be one hell of a way to begin a new administration. My God.

Yeah that was never going to hold up. It just wouldn't make sense.

I would mention that to dickweeds like Matt Gaetz, among others.

None of these people wore masks and were taking video of themselves, posting it and streaming it live. Christ, how stupid can a person be, especially when they have done this for months and are well known on social media and the internet.

Antifa goes out of their way NOT to show their faces.

... when I read some of these posts, I wonder how many of the writers are half-drunk. ... I mean, how can some of these opinions continue to exist in the face of stink after stink from the executive WH person? Doesn't even the most manipulated or lie-fertilized mind ultimately say to itself: you know this guy and his crowd really ARE dangerously bad people.

I imagine everyone as Sam Kinison reincarnated.

I have dealt with "stink" from the "executive WH person" my entire adult life. That would be Clinton through now. I will take shitty rhetoric and amazing policies every day of the week and twice on Sundays.

I find Biden's rhetoric more inflammatory than Trump's right now. "If they were black they would have been killed" - wut? Maybe we need his original victory speech copy - probably says "heeling" not "healing". Got us there Uncle Joe!

MAGAs harrassed Lindsey Graham at Reagan Intl Airport today. Cries of "traitor" as police had to escort him away from the angry crowd.

This is the base now. They either won't come out if Trump isn't on the ballot (midterms 2018) or they will come out for one of his kids or anyone that picks up the flag and runs with it.

Hawley and Cruz know this, and they're acting accordingly. Many others have and will follow.

Breaking: the DOJ says it is not considering incitement charges against speakers at Wednesday’s rally, which included the president, said, “We don’t expect any charges of that nature.” The investigation is focused solely on criminal acts at the Capitol

A police officer died. Four of their supporters did too. Many others were injured.

Is this justice?

I find few positives during any of this. One positive is, however, that I believe that no one can gather together the fragments of the Trump Crazy-Coalition. (and I'm NOT talking about rational Republicans).

Movements ride the backs of charismatic leadership. Hardly anyone has the Monstrous ego-driven charisma of Trump. As a full blown psychopath, he has been always on point --- his ego's point. His genius is his sense of what people need to hear to roar and cheer for his outrageous lies.

I agree that crazed movements often resurrect into full blown revolutionary violence. But not if there is no charismatic projection in the "new" leadership. Ted Cruz? What a joke. Nikki Haley would never lower herself, and good candidate as she can be, she is not a psychopathic monster and liar, and that's what this locked-brain crowd requires (because "uncomfortable facts" will continue to arise.)

I used to marvel at listening to a Trump speech and hearing somewhat regularly remarks like the following: "... and, and people are saying .... should I say this? Should I say this? ..." and I thought: Damm, this whacko is having internal talks with himself feeling his way into crazier and crazier lies --- he lives entirely within the depths of his own head, just sniffing out his theater-nose to sense the odor of his claims.

The cards had to fall very unusually to allow a mentally defective dangerous but charismatic person to get where he's gotten. He is, I believe, unique. That is why I believe that although he will leave a legacy of unstable persons who will do violence, he will not leave any organized group ---- not that there has ever been organized structure --- to be taken over by culture criminals like Ted Cruz, who is only a piece of scum looking for low-hanging fruit to power his own political image.

I have been wondering where the White House Counsel has been during all of this both in the lead up, in any advice to the President or during the takeover of Congress. I'm sure we all know that he is not supposed to be partisan. I'll bet he gave some strong advice to the Executive. Someone like Giuliani, etc is on his own as far as legal advice.

Reports are that White House Counsel Pat Cipollone is advising WH officials to stay away from Trump. Potential witnesses or worse? Who knows if those reports are accurate, but I wouldn't risk any liability whether a staffer or a Cabinet member.

Never before seen levels of corruption. Trump wasn't content just to pardon child murderers and criminals he employed, he now wants to pardon himself and his family for crimes they committed while in office.

Anyone want to explain to me how this fits with "law and order" or "draining the swamp"?

He would be dumb not to - he leaves DC with just as many friends as he entered with. The FBI has been trying to frame him for four years. You really thing the Swamp doesn't want to make an example of him? How dare a non-politician enter their turf! And they know he is shallow and bitter enough to go after all of them anywhere and everywhere. They don't have to commit crimes - the Swamp has proven it has no problem manufacturing them.

Can a political party deny someone the ability to call themselves a member? I assume so. Seems like the obvious choice is to expel Trump from the Republican party and ignore him as much as possible. They might lose a Senate seat in Florida to a Dem in 2022 because the Trumpist candidate splits the conservative vote but that has to be preferable to becoming the Trump party at this point. The dude doesn't have a real old-school conservative bone in his body anyway, he's just a narcissist who watches Fox News like it's his job and picked up that theres a sizable number of plebs that can be stirred up by saying there's a war on Christmas.

Honestly this might be a boon long-term for Republicans if they take the opportunity to back away just as they were about to go full Trump.

A pardon does not preclude you from testifying at criminal trials of others, right? You would need to disclose fully and truthfully about any alleged crimes you witnessed or state charges. Correct me if I have that wrong.

I also wonder if there was a further reason Barr, who has condemned the attack on the law making branch of our government, resigned. Trump said something like "Be there. Be Wild" or "this is going to be wild"? Was that foreknowledge? Did Barr want to separate himself because he knew of connections between the WH and these groups? We'll find out.
