Why wouldn't they block him? He's transferring in the conference. They told him before hand they would block any school in the BIG12.

My take:

1) OU got the Big 12's rules changed to their advantage when Baker Mayfield transferred in conference.
2) He's a grad transfer who wasn't going to play, especially with them accepting an incoming grad transfer to be the top of their depth chart.
3) Personally, if you're going to say these kids are students first and their payment is their education, then I think limiting where they can transfer to should be viewed as limiting their academic options just as much as their athletic options.

I used to think it was reasonable to not allow a kid to transfer within the conference, but not anymore. Especially when the school will accept an in conference transfer.

Baker was a walk on his first year. If Kendall wants to walk on at WVU he can do so.

The Baker rule makes sense, preventing a non scholarship player from playing makes no sense. So let Kendall walk on if he wants. But thinking OU would voluntarily give themselves a weaker shot at beating an opponent goes against logic.

Baker was on scholarship for 2014. The Sooners got a special waiver to allow it:

He just had to sit out a year because he hadn't graduated at the time of transfer.

Kansas St. QB Alex Delton announced he was doing a Grad Transfer to TCU, and now that has hit the brakes for the same reason as Kendall's.

https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/kansas-state-quarterback-alex-deltons-transfer-to-tcu-hits-a-slow-down/

Kansas State grad transfer quarterback Alex Delton hasn't quite been released to transfer to TCU.

There has been a "slow down" in Delton's transfer status, sources told CBS Sports on Wednesday. At issue is a competitive concern with Delton transferring within the Big 12, sources said.

Delton tweeted Tuesday "I'll be finishing my final year at TCU." The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported Tuesday "TCU has found its grad transfer quarterback."

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Man I am so blessed for what I’ve learned through this game & how it has shaped me. I’m proud of what I’ve done but I am not done yet... Change of plans. I will be finishing my final year at TCU. Excited to get started!!! <a href="https://twitter.com/TCUFootball?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@TCUFootball</a> <a href="https://t.co/is55VZtZdY">pic.twitter.com/is55VZtZdY</a></p>— Alex Delton (@adelton005) <a href="https://twitter.com/adelton005/status/1085336022102224896?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">January 16, 2019</a></blockquote>

However, grad transfers must meet all the conditions of the one-time transfer rule, which includes the originating institution's approval. Neither Kansas State nor TCU have made an official announcement. However, Monday is thought to be a soft deadline for semester transfers because that is a general start date for the beginning of the second semester.

K-State coaches are evaluating allowing Delton to transfer within the conference. Delton put his name in the transfer portal on Dec. 4.

Delton has played 20 games in his Kansas State career, making six starts over four seasons.

Without Kansas State's release, Delton could still transfer but per NCAA rules would have to sit out a year and lose a year of eligibility. That effectively would end his college career.

Delton also has the option of filing for a transfer waiver that would allow him to transfer immediately. He is among a group of FBS quarterbacks -- both undergrad and grad -- seeking transfers as that soft Monday deadline approaches.

TCU reportedly has had interest in grad transfer quarterback Austin Kendall of Oklahoma.

He was a walk on his first year as in at Texas Tech. So a team that never gave a kid a scholarship should have no right over his next move. He was just a normal student as far as their concerned. Kendall accepted a scholarship from Oklahoma and now he is wanting to leave that early, for a rival no less.

Not debating who had and didn't have scholarships. My original point was about OU behaving hypocritically. When they wanted an in conference QB transfer, they had the Big 12 change its rules about eligibility and got a special waiver from the NCAA granting them an extra scholarship for him. The limitation on in-conference grad transfers is a Big 12 rule, not an NCAA one, and they didn't bat an eye ignoring/changing those Big 12 rules when it benefited them.

Riley granted Kendall his release. Still believe OU has every right to block but maybe this lower people’s pitchforks on them. With Hurts in hand, they let him go.

I don't blame OU for taking Hurts as a bridge to Rattler if they feel he is better than Kendall. I wouldn't be surprised to see Tanner Schafer leave as well. I don't blame Kendall for telling OU to go F themselves either.

I liked college ball better before the free agency thing we have now. It’s like, I get to play as much as I want or I’m out.
It feels like a step towards college players taking official money.

i'm torn. i also know coaches go where they want, when they want. and there are some really good kids out there that are stuck behind better players that can make an impact at some other schools. and some really great kids out there at lesser schools that would get more exposure and better training at some of the bigger schools.

i'd like to see the rules changed to allow for structured movement. like after your 2nd year, you can move where you want (up or down school, but not in the same conference) without sitting out. And if you graduate, you can go wherever the hell you want without limitation. other than that, you're out of luck and need to make the best of things.

Has anyone actually seen this transfer portal? Where is it located? Is it like Star Trek? Does the player just step in and it transports them to their new school?

With so many questions unanswered, I've started an investigation.

I get transfers when coaches leave, or when a guy signs and the next day a coach bolts to another opportunity he knew about, feeding lies to the kids. I don't see it acceptable/condone when a kid just can't beat another kid out. Work harder, put in the time, want it more. Too much coddoling of some of these kids aka Blake Barnett etc, that they are pumped up way too much their whole life that they don't think they have to work for it. They will be the ones whose resumes I review at work who change a job every year because something wasn't "in the job description"

Players leave Penn State football program at alarming rate, and there may be more to come

Twenty-two Penn State football players have or are graduating. The numbers are not mutually exclusive. Some of those graduates may be ones that are transferring or early entrants, but, overall, they may well fall short of eighty-five. Penn State’s 2019 recruiting class currently features 11 players who’ve already enrolled, and another seven signees, per 247Sports.

Transfer Portal at 247 is awesome:

https://247sports.com/Season/2019-Football/TransferPortal/

Penn State has 10 (!) guys transferring. Is that roster management, or is Phony Franklin getting called on his BS by a wave of players leaving?

not roster management...3 safeties transfered out..the psu fans are not happy with the mass exodus which makes it all that much more enjoyable

Former #Hokies WR Eric Kumah has official visits set at Penn State and Texas Tech and hopes to schedule one to Notre Dame, per his Twitter. Former VT WR Sean Savoy will reportedly play for Maryland.

Some of you touched on this earlier, its time to start just referring to this at CFB's free agency period.
