a statuesque pocket passer was never gonna do well at Nevada, it was a strange landing spot for him

Rutger Reitmaier, a former four-star defensive tackle from David Lipscomb High School in Nashville, announced via his Twitter that he would be enrolling at Vanderbilt in January 2018 and playing for the Commodores.

Reitmaier signed with Oregon out of high school and was an early enrollee for the Ducks in January. So that’s where things get complicated. He never played in a game for the Ducks (hell, he never even made it to fall practice), but because he did enroll there he’s considered a transfer under NCAA rules.

That means that he’s required to spend two semesters in residence before he can play football at Vanderbilt. If he’s enrolling in January, his second semester of residence would be Fall 2018 — meaning he wouldn’t be eligible to play next season. It seems likely that Vanderbilt will request a waiver, though, to allow him to play in 2018.

That could be very helpful to a defensive line that will be losing Nifae Lealao, Jay Woods, and Jonathan Wynn.

.

Injuries for much of his career, started as WR which changed to DB and back to WR, buried on depth charts.

Minnesota Football: Current List of Transfers

2017 Class - 26 enrollees
2018 Class so far - 24 verbals

Worth noting:
Minnesota Football: JUCO quarterback Victor Viramontes commits to Gophers
As a high school senior at Norco High School in California, Viramontes was committed to Jim Harbaugh and Michigan up until December 2015, when he decommitted for reasons that are unclear. He ended up signing with Cal on National Signing Day and redshirted in the fall. When head coach Sonny Dykes was fired at the end of the season, Viramontes elected to transfer to Riverside City College, where he spent this season.

He will have three years of eligibility at Minnesota, and with the departure of Demry Croft, Viramontes is almost certain to be the Gophers’ starting quarterback next season, barring the emergence of Seth Green or Tanner Morgan.

Viramontes was one of the victims of Harbaugh's shedding of verbal commitments in the Class of 2016 when higher ranked prospects came on board.

Eight enrollees from that class of 2016 were starters this year.

Do you know for a fact that if you accept a grad transfer with two years eligibility that you are on the hook for both?

He def has another year of eligibility just not sure ND has to honor it with a roster spot using up on of their 85 spots.

As you mentioned above, they can roll him into a medical with his injury history... even if that second year is normally mandatory to honor with a roster spot.

Grad Transfer’s are the pro equivalent to free agents. Schools can sign a Graduate Transfer who has two years and cut him after one and he can leave after one also. Some guys do 3 seasons at one school, then one at one school and one more at another school. Canteen is done at ND unless he proves he can stay healthy and produce which is highly doubtful

FYI, the NCAA dropped the hammer on Ol Piss today and all their players are free to transfer w/o restrictions. Not sure if they have to sit a yr.

Why the mass exodus now??

A year after Fleck's arrival, kids probably realized they're not getting any playing time?

Well damn, that's pretty big. I figured this might be more of a UNC thing

We should reach out to their starting CB's, DE, and maybe Greg Little

Reach out to players from Ole Miss? A school with that kind of academic profile?

Transfers from ol miss are immediately eligible.

only if they only have 1 year of eligibility left. Guys that are sophomores like Little and Patterson will have to sit if they transfer.

NCAA bowl ban was only an extra year to add to the 1 year Ol' Piss self-imposed.

Ole Miss players who are in their last year of eligibility are allowed to transfer without penalty***. Basically a JR or RS JR can transfer immediately and be eligible. Shea Patterson is not eligible to transfer. Here are the highlighted dudes who will probably be wanted elsewhere next season.

QB 6'2'' 212 - Jordan Ta'amu - Backup QB
WR 6'2'' 200 - Damarkus Lodge - #3 WR
OL 6'3'' 315 - Javon Patterson - Starting LG
OL 6'5'' 295 - Sean Rawlings - Starting C
DL 6'3'' 285 - Breeland Speaks - Starting SDE
DB 5'11'' 195 - Ken Webster - Starting CB
DB 5'11'' 200 - CJ Moore - Starting S
DB 5'11'' 200 - Zedrick Woods - Starting S

Now these guys might all be ineligible to play from an academic standpoint. Just don't be surprised if schools are calling these dudes. Would love to add Zedrick Woods.
