Prosise not getting much love here...

I'll give the nod to Prosise not only because he was a 3 star by some but also because that was as a FS/WR recruit. Don't think any person in the world, even Prosise himself, expected him to be a Third Round RB NFL Draft pick

David Bruton 5.5 3 star from 2005. God that class was absolutely horrid...

2004 was even worse.... 77th ranked class according to Rivals....

Gotta give some credit to Matthias. Soccer player turned receiver that started as a red-shirt freshman on a 12-1 team. Even though his ceiling wasn't very high, he definitely maximized his potential.

I know this thread is for fun, however, I had hoped to never see this phrase ever associated again with ND football after Ty got shit canned.......

I'm surprised no one mentioned Mike Anello. He was a very good special teams player despite being a walk on. Someone mentioned Harrison Smith, but I wouldn't say he really qualified. He was considered the 7th best prospect in TN that year, and in the Top 200. He wasn't necessarily projected as the #1 or #2 Safety in the NFL, but he was still highly recruited by SEC schools and a number of others.

Watched Rudy again last night. I've got to admit, the movie has lost some of it's luster after Montana poo-pooed it. I feel like Joe has ragged a bit on the university after the situation with Nate didn't go the way he liked. I kind of wish he would have shut his mouth about Rudy. It's fair that Devine stood up to defend his character, that the jersey thing never happened. It was based on a true story, so some things were played up for Hollywood. All the same, Rudy still got into Notre Dame against all odds, made the team as a walk on, and did score a sack in his one chance to see the field in his lifetime. Who is Joe, a Hall of Famer and multiple Super Bowl winning QB, to take Rudy down a peg? He was just a freshman at the time, and other players have said that carrying Ruettiger off the field wasn't a joke. Joe is kind of an ass in his old age, should have just kept his big mouth shut or just expounded on the "Hollywood" moments only.

This. So many people ragged on Farley after the 2013 season, who by all means was playing injured most of the year if I recall. He played very well for us in other years though, and was a play maker toward the end of his career. I struggle to think how bad our secondary could have really been if he wasn't there to bail us out after the injuries and the suspensions.

Could be apocryphal, but I recall reading that Joe Montana never went back to Notre Dame between when he graduated and some time in the late 90s/early 2000s when he shot an adidas ad there. And then when things didn't work out for his kid there, he definitely ragged on Kelly about it more than seemed appropriate.
Point is, Joe certainly seems to have an edge on him about Notre Dame. For whatever reason. But I wouldn't let him color my opinion of the movie Rudy. It's a great movie (the real-life, post-collegiate Rudy though, he might color my opinion)

You know, Joe at one time was my favorite all time quarterback. Alot has changed for me personally , because of all the stories out there about him being unfriendly with fans and then of course the Rudy thing. Joe has done so many great things, just wish he didn't have such a huge ego and realized that despite his greatness on the field, he owes some gratitude towards the fans that supported and rooted for him. He lost a lot of respect of mine as a fan. Wish his personality matched the greatness he showed out on the field.

Begin List:

1) Vernaglia

End List

The guy who went "woosh" when he ran nearly made the list. Darrell Hand received honorable mention, but he got picked up on the way to the award ceremony. Turns out it was not a stripper in a police women's costume.
