Yeah but when I was at a college party that was busted I was able to out run the cops.
What's your point
Point is he is/was? at the apex of his profession. So for all the chuckleheads that think Rees is a moron at least take that into account.

I know it’s a punchline to say “Tommy to Iowa”.

But.

If he really, actually made their offense useful, that is as monumental of a statement as one can make as an offensive coordinator.

If Fisch leaves and there is an AZ coaching exodus to WA, how about AZ which will be in the Big 12 next year? Not a bad stop

This has probably been asked but with the new OC coming in, does Tommy get a buy out of sorts?

There is going to be a lot more movement in the weeks ahead and after the Super Bowl.

Tommy landing in the NFL is not beyond the realm of possibility. Soon.

Like I said before season started he made a mistake… going to bama as OC got him fired while OC at ND got promoted to HC at another school

With that said, he’ll make our financially with this and probably land a solid gig

Rees didn't get "fired," his head coach retired and the new guy brought in the offensive staff that brought him to the title game. He did fine at Bama; he too was an OT away from the title game. Either way IDK how he lands a college HC job worth having. He's not (yet) the face of a P5 program from a recruiting/fundraising/media perspective. But he's only 31.
Right now, for Rees, the floor is probably OC at LSU, or a QB coach for an NFL team - which might be preferable for an Xs and Os guy like him. Maybe some NFL coach takes a flyer on him as a coordinator.
I know it drives half of us crazy but Rees is actually pretty good at this coaching bit, and he'll be just fine.

To be fair he left because he was pissed the new guy got the job over him.

There's 9 million and 1 reasons why it was smart to take the Alabama OC job. As others mentioned, he's not fired. He's likely hanging around till the NFL carousel shakes out.

So he could stay on staff next year at bama if he wanted to in same or better role?

Parting ways, not retained, whatever…. Deboer doesn’t want him

Obviously that is no knock on Rees, though. Grubb has been with Deboer forever. Tommy could be the best OC in America and Deboer would still make the same choice. Tommy will be absolutely fine. OC at LSU does make the most sense.

Such a stupid take. Tommy wasn't let go because of poor performance. You also know it is rare when a new coach retains staff from the previous regime. If they do, it's not normally the OC or DC. DeBoer went the standard route that everyone does and brought their own guys in.

I would be absolutely shocked if he was NFL OC next year. QB coach is likely IMO.

He’s a better OC than QB coach.

His ability to develop QBs is subpar. He’s got one (1) QB to the league and that QB was there just long enough to have a cup of coffee.

So he was retained or he is being let go?

It's not uncommon to keep coaches from the prior staff, especially when it's due to a retirement and not because the team tanked and HC got fired. Bama was in the CFP playoff, you'd think if the coaches are good and a big part of why they made the CFP you'd retain them.

It just goes to show Deboer knows what we know.
