Rees putting that ND degree to work, 4D chess. Learned Saban's secrets, then slayed the king. Wonder how much he paid off that Center for every bad snap against Michigan?
Wonder why he didn’t think to call a play from under center. Been having the same issues all year. Weird.

Fwiw, Tommy Rees is trending on Twitter.
Bout 50/50 keep/promote to HC or looking for a job (daBears?!)
The Tweets are pretty damn funny. Everything from "Tommy broke Saban" to "Tommy to HC for Bama." Quite a few in Tuscaloosa want his head. It runs the whole spectrum.

I'm assuming the 50% to promote are Auburn fans? No way any Bama fan wants to settle for an OC with no HC experience. They're in a position to grab almost anybody. I'm interested in where he goes. If he wants the NFL, hope he gets a shot this offseason. I think if he was able to get a 2nd successful year in with Saban he would have been set up really well. Either way, he'll have plenty of good opportunities.

I’m torn. Part of me is pissed at Tommy for failing to recruit McCarthy and losing to Michigan but I respect his ability to destroy the Saban dynasty.
Meh, I'd put Tommy further down the list from NIL, The Portal and Kirby Smart. Tommy goes to the NFL now, where recruiting won't hurt him anymore.

Does anyone know who Tommy Rees agent is?
I can't believe I'm actually typing this, but I think he may have a less then zero chance of getting the job based "reports"
I like a lot of you think that is crazy, but there has been "credible" people say he is at least in the running.
Andy Staples threw his hat in the ring, and well as executive producer of the Dan Le Batard show Mike Ryan said he did some back channeling and heard he was at least going to get an interview / has a shot.

I have to assume this is just his agent doing a great spin job, in the hopes having his "name in the ring" helps him land either another great coordinator gig or a head coaching job once the chips settle.

He's not even on the big board in Vegas, so I think it's what you said. Trying to put good spin on it so he has a better path to a top OC job somewhere else.

Sounds like he is in line for an interview along with deboer and norvell per John Brice

Given Brice’s Notre Dame ties I would assume either Tommy or Rees the Elder is a source of his.

Also of course there’s a big gap between a courtesy interview for your sitting OC and actually hiring him.

If you would have told me 5 years ago that Thomas Rees was going to be interviewed for the head coaching job of Alabama I would have laughed in your face and kicked you in the nut sack but yet here we are. Strange world we live in I tell ya

What better way to get the lone coordinator remaining to bust his ass, but to make him think he’s got a shot at HC.

Pretty classy move by Bama to offer a courtesy interview to bolster his chances elsewhere.

After the carousel stops spinning, he probably could legitimately pursue some of the low tier openings that are created by this ripple effect.

“He interviewed with Bama, we need to talk to this guy”

Yup, also helps them with buyout if he moves on to another school rather than getting terminated.

Tommy is going to bring Heistand out of retirement as his first action as Bama HC. They're going to fix those snaps pronto.

OK but seriously...

What if?

It would be probably the most flabbergasted I would have ever been in my life.

There is no way they hire Rees a as a first time head coach to Bama let alone Bama after Saban.
What if they whiff on their first 3 or 4 targets? Maybe you just decide to pack it in, keep you recruiting class together, go with Rees on a low buyout and resign yourself to searching again next offseason?

Would be par for the course. ND QB Coach, up to ND OC, up to Alabama OC, up to Alabama HC. Some serious upward trajectory, even up to his current role. Just think, he could potentially set Alabama back to the dark ages as revenge for 2012, 2018, and 2020...then come back to ND with Saban's secrets once Freeman takes Ryan Day's job
