Sounds like it's going to be a must read. I wonder who the teams were for Seals-Jones.... Clemson and Auburn? Ole Miss?

Y! SPORTS

Everything is so broken... I don't know what the solution is.

Can't wait.... And you know that the responses at the end are all SEC arse gobblins and POSu honks are gripping hard that their programs are again in a negative light. Makes me giggle.

Doesn't Seals-Jones know that the NCAA will be knocking down his door after this book comes out?

Also speaking publicly for the first time is Lacey Pearl Earps – the infamous Tennessee recruiting hostess dubbed "The Closer" by Volunteer coaches for her ability to connect with top high school players.

Earps details the bizarre system of the hostess business, where pretty, personable, well-trained college women are used as bait to lure top talent. Even if they don't have physical relationships with high school players (and some certainly do), they are encouraged to engage in at least pseudo romantic relationships through social media, text and Skype for months on end. All of this comes with the approval and encouragement of athletic department officials and highly paid coaches.

"Our job was to flirt with them," Earps said.

At one point, Bryce Brown, a running back from Kansas and the No. 1 recruit in America, told then-Tennessee coach Lane Kiffin he wanted to make a last-minute unofficial visit to Knoxville. Kiffin called Earps, who had hosted Brown during a previous visit and was in near constant contact with him.

"I asked [Brown] what he wanted to do," Earps said Kiffin told her. "[Brown] said, 'Coach, all I want to do is hang out with Lacey.' So will you take him out?" When she agreed, Kiffin gave her $40 for expenses. She hung out with him for a couple days and he signed with the Vols

Yet, despite all those underhanded efforts, Bama beats the snot out of them because of a REALLY good zone blocking system... give me a break.

Using that logic, because we would've most certainly beaten Tennessee the last few years, you could conclude that we are doing sneaky underhanded things as well.

Does ND use recruiting hostesses? I'm pretty sure we don't but I was just wondering if someone had some more insight. I've seen it at other schools and always thought it was incredibly shady.

Meanwhile you have teams like ND and Stanford trying to do it the right way and fight an incredibly steep, up hill battle.

More kudos to the programs that have to fight against this crap.

In regards to the Ohio State thing, the preview I read actually seems to hint that the NCAA messed up and went overboard on some things, like Posey's suspension.

And it also brings up an interesting point that the OSU players were under pressure to provide exact details "with eligibility on the line," while admins are allowed to be vague in the details they provide with almost no penalty.

As much as I dislike OSU, and as dumb as the decisions were that a few players made, I hate to hear about players getting the shaft in a system that is so obviously flawed.

Luckily, if ND were mentioned in some kind of juicy scandal in the book, I'm sure it would have been mentioned in the previews because of the amount of publicity and sales that would produce. I'm sure Stanford and ND aren't 100% by the rules, but we're a hell of a lot closer than most others.

Poor Bryce Brown...

A cautionary tale to young man on why they should take advantage of the opportunity to get a real education and learn how to be a successful adult.

College football chewed that kid up and spit him out.

When you have a billion dollar industry you will have corruption. Nothing new will come to light here... just the names will change. Been going on since the first footballs were teed up... and will go on long after this book hits the discount rack at the local Books A Million.

I'm saying that logic doesn't hold water. Anyone could've beaten Tennessee when they were doing those things. Vanderbilt? UCLA? Kentucky? Missouri? Those aren't powerhouses. To say Bama is cheating because they beat a team that's been cheating isn't necessarily true.

I would think not but I don't know. If we did...I'm certain that she wouldn't "stack up" to this Earp chick..errr woman.

I could see it now...

BK: "welcome to Notre Dame recruit X, I would like to introduce you to your beautiful hostess Marge".

Recruit X: "what the ___"

Marge: "Hey sexy"

BK: "Don't worry Recruit X, what she lacks in suitable looks, she makes up for it with manly legs and a strong chin".

Recruit X: [/blank stare]

I think Notre Dame uses some system of hostessing hopefully not to the same extent as other schools. But I know my qbs sister in high school was Jimmy Clausen's hostess. All I can say she was three years older than me but God was she fire.
