At first I thought this was with 225 lbs, but still impressive.

I must have watched that Vine for a good 10 minutes and I lost track after about 100 reps

Farrell is trolling for the second straight year on Twitter. Just butthurt because Rivals is no longer allowed at The Opening

Why aren't they allowed?

Because they went off and created the Rivals 5:s: Challenge which is pretty much a Under Armour sponsored second tier version of The Opening. No one but Rivals is allowed at it so now Rivals is pretty much the only big recruiting media not allowed at The Opening

Wide receiver target Ryan Newsome(Aledo) scored just above 120.8, which has him at 23rd on the list. Shaun Crawford's 124.8 score put him at 17th on the list.

I think those things judged your vert by time off ground. Easily fudged if that's how they work.

FULL SPARQ PRELIM RESULTS: SNRC Prelim results - The Opening

CJ Sanders ran the third fastest 40, only 0.02 off of the fastest, and the fastest of all WRs. He ran THE fastest 20 yard shuttle in a blazing 3.80. So basically, he's the fastest guy there. Wow.

Crawford ran a 4.48 and 3.94, the 3.94 being the 5th fastest overall and second best of all DBs.

For reference, Ryan Newsome ran a 4.50 and 4.07.

For QBs, Drew Lock and Brady White turned in some good times running in the 4.8s, but Lewerke is the real surprise running at 4.71. Wonder what would've happened if we had gone after Lock when he camped?

This is just one event so it hasn't completely changed my tune but I thought there was a gap in his speed versus some of the other guys we had or had a shot with. Turns out that may not be true. I guess I had him at 1A and everybody else at 1B for that slot position and I may need to rethink that.

I remember going to the BC football camp the summer before my senior year of high school, and they used that method for determining verticals. I had like a 10 inch difference in vertical in my two attempts, I refuse to believe those things are accurate haha

What did BB run in 40. Wasn't part of his hype that he could play wr?

exactly. idk about 10", but there's a reason the NFL doesn't use those things.

It would also explain some of the insanely high verticals being reported. Several of the linemen have turned in surprising numbers, I think it was Merritt who was credited with a 45-inch standing vert, but if that were 100% accurate, he'd be nearly the best leaper in the NBA. No idea if there's any reason to be skeptical, but that caught my eye as extreme.

For sure, the testing isn't "accurate" in the sense that it inflates a lot of measurements. All that it is good for is measuring kids against each other.

So we know CJ Sanders runs the fastest shuttle of any kid there, and just about the fastest 40. We don't know though how that would compare to a 40 run at the combine by someone.

I think it was Ironman that said this before but don't necessarily judge the numbers but them in relation to other players. Does CJ really run a consistent 4.32 that may not be the case but is he one of the fastest players at an event with really fast players, yes.

And too slow once again, Lax has this above.

I get that, but honestly vertical is a pretty easy one to do objectively. If they just had the kids jump up and swipe the rack you could get accurate and consistent measurements. Using the mat just introduces a margin of error so that everyone gets an inflated vertical, and it looked to me like the verticals were definitely a bit inflated.

40s, shuttles, etc take a stopwatch. Seeing how high someone's hand went in the air doesn't take any guess work.

You can also fudge the swat method too. Start with reaching up with level shoulders then when you jump, really reach with the top. It will gain you a few extra inches. Not sure why it's so hard to make it laser. Seem pretty easy to set up to me.

In breaking Openining news, IE's own irishog77 just ran a 4.3 40 and had a vertical of 45 inches.

That was actually me that brought that up-- the relative part.

I remain somewhat skeptical though even at that. I'm not sure if the numbers are inflated at other camps as much as the Opening, but once numbers become, essentially, made up...then I'm not sure how much they can be trusted, even relatively speaking?

I mean I THINK Sanders did really well with his measurables (he certainly did in relation to other players), but I don't really KNOW if he did because the game is rigged from the word go. I'm not exactly sure what they do at The Opening to exaggerate the numbers. So maybe the exaggerated measurable numbers from this camp don't matter, but maybe they do?

It's a question of accuracy vs precision.
