he goes to the tip of his toes, usually in drills coaches will ask that you exaggerate the small mechanics so that they become natural in live play.

getting on your toes is definitely one of those things, especially if the coaches notice you have been throwing flat footed, the coaches would ask you to exaggerate.

Great info and definitely makes sense. Thanks.

And why the hell is Johnny Douchbag at the Elite 11. He's not a great QB when it comes to mechanics. Ugh.

“@DameWebb: #QuentontoOSU”

Looks like OSU isn't done recruiting Nelson. There's a lot of Buckeyes there this week, that's OSU commit Damon Webb

Really liked what JC said. Guy who is 6'5", 220 lbs, fast, private school, AND highly coachable? Yes please.

I'm not sure being from a private school matters at all. Regardless, Toledo Central Catholic does its best to really blur the line between public and private anyway (but you already know that haha).

This should spark a good debate: Elite 11 Comparisons: Malik Zaire vs. DeShone Kizer
Kizer has been up-and-down from a performance/execution standpoint this year and Zaire had a solid outing according to the coaches at last year’s event, probably better than Kizer from that standpoint. That being said, the 6-foot-5, 210-pound Kizer has his best days of football ahead of him and there is really no comparison between the two from an upside standpoint. Plus, the intangibles that made Zaire an FBS-level prospect are just as strong with Kizer, so when you compare the two, there really is no clear advantage for the Irish 2013 quarterback signee over the fast-riser in this cycle. We would take - Kizer over Zaire. He’s a better prospect.

Whoa. That is saying something.

But I'd take Zaire over Kizer every day of the week and twice on Saturdays. But what do I know?

I agree with their assessment that Zaire at this point last year was a better QB than Kizer but Kizer has the higher upside of the two.

Keep in mind Rivals was MUCH higher on Zaire than 247. At the moment their rankings are:

Zaire 247: #10 Dual Threat QB, #15 OH, NR Overall
Kizer 247: #5 Dual Threat QB, #8 OH, #193 Overall

Zaire Rivals: #3 Dual Threat QB, #6 OH, #122 Overall
Kizer Rivals: #8 Dual Threat QB, #15 OH, NR Overall

Zaire 247 Composite: #4 Dual Threat QB, #9 OH, #168 Overall
Kizer 247 Composite: #3 Dual Threat QB, #12 OH, #244 Overall

Kizer IMO is taller, has a better arm, has a better throwing motion, and is just as mobile as Zaire. He just needs time. Pretty easy choice for Kizer IMO.

BTW, tomorrow is the last day of Elite 11 & the first day of The Opening which is always the SPARQ Combine. I wouldn't expect any of our commits to have particularly good SPARQ scores. I want to see how Brent tests out in the 40 & vertical, Hood in the 40 and power ball, and Nelson in the power ball.

I just don't think any of them are particularly big "combine kings" which I honestly I could care less about.

I think Hood is the only one that has participated in Sparq testing this year. His score (108.84) was #69 nationally this year for all positions. He should do well.

I really don't care about this either though. I had a HS teammate (he was a freshman when I was a senior) that had the best SPARQ score in the country the spring before his senior year. He didn't have a single scholarship offer and ended up starring for a division 3 school.

I'm much more interested in the 1v1s.

re: Kizer vs Zaire

watched as much Kizer tape as i coulod find and while i love his measurables (ht/weight etc) and intangibles (leadership, maturity off the charts) what worries me about Kizer is simply his accuracy on his throws. He has said as much.
Zaire may not have the measurables, and im not sure on his intangibles but IMO he has "it" on the field...that thng you cant quite quantify, he just seems to get it done, and i really like his arm and accuracy. throws a real nice ball which to me is Job 1 for a QB.
if Kizer gets "the accuracy thing" down he could be special.

love both these guys...
