Caught some lightning bugs with my kids last night. Sometimes the little things are the biggest things.

However, when you go whale watching…the big things are the biggest things. Such a cool experience!
I farted in front of my boys last night. My 6 year old said "awesome!" and then high fived me. So similar.

When I took my daughter whale watching a couple of weeks ago, the orca pod we saw is named T123. During the tour, the guide mentioned that the matriarch of the pod and her son had gotten stranded on a sandbar while hunting seals in 2017. It was cool and raining, so the orcas stayed wet and were fine until the tide came back in a few hours later. Apparently, this is somewhat common, and the orcas typically survive. Unknown at the time, the matriarch was pregnant. When she had her calf in 2018, it was named Lucky.

Tonight I was Googling the pod and discovered the footage of the mom & son stranded. Pretty cool stuff. These are the same two adult orcas (minus the two youngsters) that my daughter & I watched and got to see take a seal.

My wife & I visited my step-daughter and her husband & kids this past weekend, and we laughed at a couple of old memories.

When my step-daughter was about 17, I stumbled into the kitchen for my first cup of coffee one morning still in my boxers and t-shirt. My step-daughter was at the sink and glanced over at me, then laughed. She said, "Well, YOU'RE gonna be in a good mood today." When I asked why, she said, "Because your underwear is on backwards & wrong side out."

While she was in college, she was home one weekend and had a date with her future husband. In a failed attempt to mess with her, I asked her if she could leave early and be out of the house by 5. When she asked me why, I said, "Well, this is the night your mom bathes me, spanks me a little, powders my butt, rubs baby oil on me, puts me in a diaper, and lets me call her mommy all evening. It's our thing." Without missing a beat she replied, "That's so weird! Max likes exactly the same thing!" I just sighed and walked away with her laughing and saying, "Come on back when you want some more, old man!" LOL

For three years I've been trying to take my now 12-year-old daughter to the Seattle area for a whale-watching tour, but every time we think we're going to go, something happens. We finally made it yesterday! We went on a 4-hour boat tour of Puget Sound and watched a pair of humpbacks for about 20 minutes, saw dozens of seals, a few bald eagles, and orcas. We followed the orcas for over an hour, with them coming as close as 80 yards. The male in the pod is one of the bigger orcas on the west coast at 27 feet... just a huge flippin' beast. Got to watch the pod catch a seal, then turn it over to the 11-year-old juvenile female of the pod to practice her technique on before they all helped her eat it. It was National Geographic stuff from 200 yards away.

Just an amazing day with my daughter and some memories to last a lifetime. I got a lot of pics, but they weren't particularly good. The whales are tough to photograph. When they break the surface, you only have a second or two to aim and focus, then they're gone.

As a humorous side note, I'd texted my wife the day before that we were going on a three to four hour tour, which was partly to set up a joke for later. Yesterday morning when we called her from the marina, I said to her, "So, we're going on a three hour tour and..." She cut me off and said, "Don't even, Gilligan. I saw that joke coming a mile away. I know you too well."
I’m just now seeing this. How absolutely incredible! I’m so jealous. I have to do this.

My wife and I had a 12 lbs 3 oz baby in March. We are set at the 1, 3, and 5 technique in 18 years. He’ll cover 3 positions.
I was over 11 lbs,… Im not sure if this will give you pain or hope but I grew to be a 6’1” 190 WR/DB…

Guess I'll throw my hat in the ring. We're expecting our first in November, so we should be set at left tackle in about 18 years.
Congrats. Your life is about to change just a little bit.

Had my son two years ago, he’s officially at the age of doing dumb shit to himself and making me laugh endlessly. Best two years of my life by a mile. He’s all boy that’s for sure.
18 months to 4 years is the best age. They're unknowingly hilarious and they discover new things every day.

I thought #4 was a bigger adjustment than #3. My wife disagreed
I agree with your wife. When it's 1-2 kids you can play Man defense. When it becomes 3 you have to learn Zone...totally different game. You'll be changing one diaper while your wife is feeding the 2nd, and the 3rd is drawing on the walls or cutting their own hair.

My 8YO is +99% in height and not quite 99 in weight. Kid is a monster. His hands are almost bigger than my wife's. I am convinced he is going to be a tackle.

He can lock up the RT. My 9 year old is in the same boat, he'll be right there maybe at LT with your son on the OL. Projected to be 6'6" or more, he's the biggest kid on his PeeWee team.

I started with twin boys. My wife and I are both 6’2”, so I was banking on genetics coming into play. I was right. They are only 6 and both over 4’7” and over 60lbs.
