I also like their later work even though they sound like a different band. I just don't like that they ignore everything from their first four albums. If that makes me "that guy" then so be it.

Most the people going to their shows nowadays weren't listening to them in the early 90's, nor do those songs gel with their set lists. It would be pretty bizarre to randomly throw in a song into a set full of songs nothing like it. Nor did the vast majority of their crowd came to hear those songs.

pretty common for bands to put out a few great albums and then begin to falter

I suppose, but not the case here.

Well all I can say is they're one hell of a live show. I would definitely go and see them again! I wanted to save the first show for something that I grew up on (Eagles, Floyd, Zep) but I settled for something my wife and I both enjoy, the RHCP. I have listened to all their albums and I was not disappointed with the show one bit.

I wanted to go see Billy Joel later this month at Dodger Stadium but unfortunately the government has other plans for me.

Saw The Lumineers in Indy two weeks ago, they were incredible live, even better than on their album imo. Also, Bankers Life Fieldhouse is the best venue I've been in for any concert/game ever

Going to see Clapton tomorrow

Have fun. He puts on a good show and can still wear a guitar out. He probably won't be playing much longer so enjoy seeing him while you can.

First concert ever for me was - Milli Vanilli and Young MC at Deer Creek in Noblesville, IN.

Just Bust A Move!!! :)

It was awesome, think I was like 8 or 9 years old.

Elton John was great, although he has adjusted his songs for his diminished vocal range. Derek Trucks live is incredible. Snarky Puppy is unreal.

Still, my favorite shows are always DMB. They always show out and Dave doesn't leave anything on the stage. I wasn't there, but Central Park 2003 is one of the greatest shows I've ever heard. If you have preconceptions about the band, just give that show a listen.

I saw you in line for those Color Me Bad tix as I drove by the arena.

I have you beat.

New Kids on the Block.
1990 Alpine Valley, WI.
I was entering high school.

My older brother bought four tickets for his girlfriend.
They broke up right before the show.
We were the only ones partying in the lot, lol.

My oldest son and wife went. Haven’t asked how he liked it. We were watching the granddaughter but I went to bed at 11:30 since I had to work. Evidently traffic was messed up. They didn’t pick her up until 2:00.

That was me in the Jimmy Clausen Hawaii Bowl jersey!

It's absolutely atrocious. I've camped since 2009ish, so I haven't had to deal with it for a while. But I can remember setting my alarm for 60-90 minutes, taking a nap, and waking up and still waiting in lines to get out.

Not sure if they fit best show ever category.. But saw Green Day when they rolled through April 17 and Weezer a couple weeks back with the Pixies. Rivers Cuomo is one weird dood but interesting as hell.

Traffic has been that way since they built the thing. With all of the infrastructure improvements they've made in that area, you'd think they would have figured it out by now.

Year of Metal:

Went to the Korn/Alice In Chains show when they came through the OC. Pretty amazing show!

Followed that up two weeks later with Breaking Benjamin, Chevelle and Three Days Grace.

Will be heading to Vegas next month for Five Finger Death Punch, Three Days Grace, Bad Wolves and Fire From the Gods.

The Best Concert... Ever.

Went to Iron Maiden a few weekends ago:

Yes, they are a cliche

Yes, they are a real life version of Spinal Tap

But man, they really do put on one hell of a show. It was absolutely incredible top to bottom.

Nice!

My first concert was Motley Crue in 1983. Saxon opened. It was freakin awesome.

All the metal bands I saw back in the early to mid 80’s kicked ass as far as putting on a show.

I agree. I saw many of them. AC/DC, Maiden, Van Halen, Def Leppard, KISS, Ratt, Poison, Dokken, Lita Ford, Great White.

Rage just announced their tour dates:

March 30th at Cardinals Stadium for me. I foolishly passed on Tool's shows recently. Will not make that mistake again. Sucks that Camp will get to see it before me on opening night in UTEP's gym.

Going a week and a half later to see Pearl Jam in the same spot.

Who's got concert plans?

Went to Y&T last week in Dallas at Gas Monkey.

Not the most well known hard rock band, but they put on a hell of a show for two hours. I thoroughly enjoyed it and my ears are still ringing.

Saw Queensryche back in '85 and while I wasn't a fan of their music they were damn fine musicians. Saw pretty much everyone else you mentioned as well back in the day. I love Dokken and thought Lynch was one terrific guitar player. Throw in some Traci Guns with LA Guns, some Shotgun Messiah, and some Sammy pre-Van Halen and I am there. Good times and good music even if it wasn't critically acclaimed.

I've never been a metal fan, but I saw Sammy WAY back in the day at my very first concert. Summer of '75, Montrose was the #2 act on the bill before Skynyrd at the old Rickwood Field in B'ham. Sammy was Montrose's singer in those days and they tore it up!
