Maybe its me, but i like guys like Richard Sherman and Gronk, guys with personality and charisma. I find guys like Russell Wilson boring.

I like them all personally. I find Shermans attitude towards the game fantastic with the intensity he has. Gronk is Gronk. Wilson is refreshingly humble I find.

No real horse in this race but I was cheering for N.E. all the way. Can't stand the Seahawks and I'm mostly just glad Sherman didn't win another one.

Nothing against Sherman, if he was on my team I'd probably love him - but this is beautiful to watch.

Looking at the landscape of the NFL, I wouldn't be surprised to see these two teams back here next year. Who's going to challenge in the AFC?

Pats fans, have you written Pete Carroll a thank you card yet?

Honestly that call was a reminder of how I've thought about Carroll his whole career. He's a good coach, obviously. But from his time w the Pats to USC to Seattle, I've always noticed how impulsive he starts to coach when things get tight. When you've got tons of talent, sometimes impulsive decisions just look like aggressive decisions and they pay off. And then every once in a while they come back to bite you.

Still can't believe that play call the day after.

What a bunch of sore losers, keep your composure and lose like a man.

by the way: how many other people had the experience of watching dozens of Seahawks 'fans' rise out of the woodwork in the third quarter? Funny to watch firsthand.

They're pathetic. And they go on and on about this "twelfth man" bullshit and how they have the greatest fans in sports.

Agreed, I had the same thought about 2 minutes after the game ended. Would be fun.

Maybe the Broncos? Steelers? Ravens?

But your right hopefully the Seahawks win next year if they meet again.

How will free agency factor into who plays in the SB next year?

What's funny about that last Seahawks playcall and how stupid it was is that just a half before, I was telling people how brilliant and gutsy Carroll was (even though I despise him) for making the TD pass call with :06 left in the half; "That's how you win titles," I said. It just goes to show you: (a) how much I know; or (b) how thin the line is between genius and insanity; or (c) both; or (d) something else.

There were so many "ball inflation" jokes after that call. It was special.

I will bet all of my vbucks against all of yours that this doesn't happen.

[/spits in hand]

The odds are obviously always against any one team making it, never mind two teams. I'm just saying compared to the normal Super Bowl it would be less surprising than usual to see a rematch because these two teams were so clearly the best two teams.

The best part of the night was Bruce Irvin swinging on Gronk then sprinting away as Gronk looks for someone to throw down with

Interesting stat from Grantland:

Lynch hasn’t been automatic from the 1-yard line in Seattle — he’s actually converted only five of his 12 tries from one yard out over the past three seasons

That has nothing to do with this game, he was carrying defenders all game. There is no excuse for not giving him the ball from the 1 yd line with a timeout in hand.

328 yards and 4 TDs for Brady. 12/15 for 121 yards and 2 TDs his last two drives. GOAT. Only good with deflated footballs though...

Agreed. The Seahawks are probably gonna lose Lynch and they desperately need a receiver that's worth a shit

I heard a couple days ago they had somewhere between 15-25M in cap space available for next year. Report Sat was they offered Lynch a big contract already.

Not defending Carroll, and not sure if this has been discussed in the thread, but I heard a great point on the radio this morning. With about 25 seconds left and one timeout, what happens if Lynch is stuffed on the 2nd down run? Seahawks have to use their last timeout, right? What do you do on 3rd and 4th down with no timeouts and less than 20 seconds to play?

By throwing it on 2nd down and preserving the timeout, the Seahawks gave themselves the option to run or pass on 3rd and 4th down.

Interesting stat from Grantland:

True, but context is important. 42% success rate over, hypothetically, three attempts would mean Seattle had about an 80% chance of scoring a TD just feeding Lynch the ball. But the bigger question is whether or not 12 attempts is statistically a large enough sample to mean anything. I wonder what the success rate is for all RBs?

So then what you need is large sample size data for passing attempts inside the 3 yard line to determine their success rate, their interception rate, and their negative play (i.e. sack) rate.

I actually don't think throwing it was a bad idea. I think the specific pass play they called was ridiculous though. I don't know how you don't play action or roll Wilson to one side.

They had almost 34 million but once you factor in Wilson getting a contract extension and a few other players needing to be extended on their defense then it doesn't leave a ton of money.

Seahawks with $33.8m cap room in 2015? Plus McShay’s mock | Seahawks Draft Blog
It’s unlikely Seattle would use this money to go on a major splurge. The priority will be to re-sign Russell Wilson to a deal worth over $100m. Bobby Wagner stands to get a new contract. There’s probably enough room to keep K.J. Wright and potentially Byron Maxwell. J.R. Sweezy is also a candidate to receive a contract extension. Bruce Irvin, quietly, is having a sensational season. He played every defensive snap against San Francisco and has developed into an important playmaker. He too may require an extension soon. What about Cliff Avril?
