This just boggles my mind and warms my heart.

Gameday is what makes college football great. The PAC-12 is not great.

That's so bad...

I really enjoy Pac 12 football... I'm clearly in a minority out here, everyone is too busy watching the Kardasians or moaning about how bad the Lakers are...

When I heard crowd noise at during the game I assumed they were piping it in over the loud speakers. That was a pathetic "crowd".

Stanford Recruiting Class of 2018

Stanford Recruiting Class of 2018

Stanford recruiting classes are generally small and often dependent on how many players accept fifth year offers and need to factor in how many Latter Day Saint recruits who are returning from missions. Their classes have totaled 83 signees over the past four years (95 over the past five classes). Last year's class was fourteen signees plus two returnees from missions. With nine Seniors without eligibility and projecting four RS Seniors leaving since they have played sparingly with Bryce Love possibly going to the NFL, Stanford's 2018 class probably can start with fourteen scholarships. Stanford also started with eighty-three scholarship players prior to walkons getting scholarships, but one recruit is returning from his mission, so add one more -- fifteen. Stanford has eleven verbal commits at this time.

Stanford is among the final choices for:
Amon-Ra St. Brown, WR
Chris Murray, OL
Kyler Gordan, CB
Tanner McKee - OV 1/12
Dax Hollifield - OV 1/12

Others who may well go elsewhere but rank Stanford in their final five.
Andres Fox, WDE
Caleb Kelly, OLB

Neither have visited and are expected to stay in the South.

Stanford already has a verbal commitment from the 9th ranked QB - Jack West. McKee is ranked 2nd. Would they take both? Chryst was out six months with an injury. Is he moving on or not taking a fifth year?

Also, Stanford had verbal commitments from three CBs, though they may be on the outside looking in at a ND-Washington battle.

Stanford has one OL commitment (a Center) and will lose two OLmen to graduation, as well as a lone LB commitment and will lose four to graduation. Stanford plays a 3-4.

Stanford’s freshmen are promising, but the jury’s still out

The early signing period puts pressure on Stanford to adapt. David Shaw has made his opinion known that he does not like it - for good reason.

Stanford typically gets commitments late in the recruiting cycle once they have cleared Stanford admissions. Last year, for instance, six of of their class of fourteen signees committed after January 1 while one other committed on Dec 16th. Six of those seven late commits were four star recruits - Little, Sarell, Adebo, Johnson, Wedington, Dumuni. Six of those seven held offers from ND. Between August 31st and Dec 15th, Stanford did not have anyone commit.

For the Class of 2018, Stanford has eleven commits with possibilities of a couple more who may sign early. Three recruits this year verballed to Stanford in October. Yet faced with a team like Notre Dame, which may only have three open spots for instance after early signing, or a guarantee by Stanford of a spot if they pass admissions, this may benefit ND over Stanford.

Whether Stanford's selling point, though, of having more scholarships available late in the cycle benefits them is also worth considering. Perhaps they then target recruits with verbal commitments to a team like Michigan, who has not let some of them sign during the early signing period preserving spots for possible later commits, will work to Stanford's advantage.

Stanford flips a Kicker, Tae Le, from Harvard. Tae Le joins Jet Toner and Jack Bailey as Stanford's kickers.

Taeveon Le is a TE. ASB beat his all time Orange Co. TD record in Mater Dei's state championship win.

The Irish kicked his tires.

Stanford signed twelve recruits with two more returning from missions - Loa Kaufusi and Simi Fehoko - who were in the Class of '16.

One verbal commit, Jacob Mangum-Farrar, has not signed yet.

The loss of Schultz doesn’t figure to dampen Stanford’s tight end prospects for next season, as sophomore Kaden Smith matched Schultz’s 23 receptions but gained 414 yards and five touchdowns.

Harrison Phillips declared for the draft. The '18 class for DTs is deep. Stanford hasn't had this many Early Entrants since 2014 (6).

Assuming the three '18 prospects who did not sign in the early signing period sign (12 others already signed) and counting Bryce Love and assuming Chryst does not transfer, Stanford is at 83 scholarship players. Three RS Seniors played in five games between them and are not listed on their two deep, so they may move on.

Hollifield, Tanner McKee (QB), and Caleb Kelly (LB) have Stanford in their favorites. So, the Tree may end up with scholarship players in the low 80s prior to any walkons awarded scholies. Are they recruiting McKee because Chryst is transferring?

Even if they take Mckee, He is headed on a two year mission and won't play till much later. Probably has nothing to do with Chryst and wont have any effect on their schollie numbers.

Keller Chryst to transfer. His uncle, Paul Chryst, is HC at Wisconsin.

For people wondering how Stanford's scholly numbers are working. They just lost Keller Chryst today to Grad Transfer, they have 2 LDS kids coming in and 14 commits so far. Total that out and they are at 79 Scholarships. Doesn't look like they'll get close to 85 because they aren't in it for that many recruits before signing day. Tanner McKee is really part of the 2020 class, FYI.

Good news is that we get them prior to the potential November decline.

Hopefully this is the beginning of their downfall. No Elite DL/OL and a mediocre QB recruit in this class.
