Not sure who all didn’t think we would be struggling this year but…… damn y’all……if you don’t know it by now you should. We might win 6 games. Deal with it.

So what was a reasonable expectation for this season? The program is in crisis and decline.

I'm not talking about booster bucks at all.

You think theres someone who went to Bama as a student who's now a manager at some company that sees a former player come across his desk that's not hiring that former player?

You think you personally would have got the same chance at ESPN Golic JR got?
Do you honestly believe he didn't get that chance only because of his old man AND because he's a former player?

Herbstreit walked right into ESPN

Chiney Ogwumike and all her opportunities since playing at Stanford and while playing in the WNBA.

It's a 100% true that former college athletes get opportunities that you and I wouldn't get.
Not 3rd stringers though, which is what you posted. The stars are fine wherever they go. But the degree absolutely matters for the majority of the roster, even at the Big 3.

I’d be fine with a transition year if we were actually developing Buchner. Without him getting reps just feels like a lost season.
Exactly. we don’t have the coaching to win games nor the QB to test out. Brutal and ugly spot to be in

The beauty is we could turn it around quickly. Eg: as a stretch I am sure Urban would come to ND. They could do some PR exercise with him, clean his image up and then get him in.

You realize that just having a degree is more than a lot of people have, right? You don't have to have a degree in mechanical engineering to be a success.

Man, no wonder why everyone else thinks ND fans are arrogant. You look down on teachers and only some degrees count. Let me guess, you only sip Pappy, right?

- Something is severely wrong with how they go about home game day operations. Whatever BK did to prep them, we clearly abandoned it. That’s on Freeman 100%.

- I thought Rees’ play calling was fine. Not UNC level good but not a glaring negative. Fine. Call BS if you want but Pyne missed wide open TDs in the 1H. He can’t go down and throw the ball for him. The preparation, coaching etc to get to this point is way more the issue.

- Stanford had massive fumble luck but at some point the lack of turnovers goes on Golden. Really don’t understand it. The DL should be doing way more stunt wise to get pressure. They play extremely vanilla on passing downs besides the occasional double A gap blitz we’ve seen since week 1.

- Everyone besides Pyne on O was completely replacement level. Just bleh. Not one person to blame but nobody who helped flip it to a win. Maybe Diggs, Diggs might be about it.

- Pyne gave everything he did well back this week. He particularly looks like a deer in headlights at home game which is bizarre. Missed wide open TDs. Poorer decision making. D performance grade.

- DT and Nickel you were basically down to third stringers. Stanford picked on that in both regards, but considering I thought it wasn’t the worst. Mills is a dude and NaNa playing so well allowed him to play more DT. Henderson was not good but once they went to Lewis it was a typical Lewis performance. Kinda like the grade on many guys on offense.

- Tackling across the board was disgusting. They only gave up 1 TD but it really felt with a clean tackling performance it could have been a shutout. They were so clean week 1 tackling and for the most part this season, it just felt lazy. Stanford has big dudes but you gotta be up to the task with 2 losses at home.

They aren't going to need to fire Tommy, I'd bet he jets on his own.

You just can't have a 3 star midget as the starting QB with like 1 good receiver and expect to have anything but a slim margin to be even decent. Throw a shitty OC in the mix and that margin evaporates and they lose winnable games. I'm still on board with Freeman, still think he was the right hire, but the coaching and play calling on both sides of the ball *really* needs to improve

The school simply has to figure out transfers and NiL. They have to. This is what it takes to compete in 2022 and beyond. They should have taken a transfer QB and WR and probably a DB but they dicked around and didn't. If they don't change, then ND football as we know it will die.

Cal got beat today by shit-ass Colorado
BYU got housed by an on-the-ropes Arkansas
Marshall has disappeared to wherever terrible G5 teams slink off too
UNC struggled with Duke

I see Navy and UNLV as likely winnable. Maybe BC. The others are either a probable L (Cuse) or definite L's (Clemson and USC).

But if the fuckers running the program can't be bothered to care, I'm not sure why I should.

Rees is what he is. He's like the weather. People like you been complaining about him since 2011.
The issue is that a team with our aspirations has no business having a QB as limited as Pyne (or Rees). But for many reasons - including Rees' recruiting - that seems to be what we've got. And so here we are.
You people? I rooted for Rees, different expectations now when coaching. You won't change your mind till the day before he is launched.

I was Rees guy always as player. I had a different name then but I always was in his corner

I am over this, no matter the evidence it won't help. Have a goodnight.

So you predicted a 6-6 record before the season started?

I’ll say this and that’s it…. I have no earthly rationale as to why we didn’t run the ball 70 times against their pathetically small d line.
100%.
Why did Estime have just 2 runs in the first 2 1/2 quaters?

Fuck off, Turtle. I said nothing of the sort. HappyValley implied that 3rd stringers at Bama have such amazing employment opportunities in state that the degree doesn't matter. I know several guys like that, and they're mostly teaching phy ed, coaching high school ball, or running football camps. None is living high on the hog. So this idea that the degree doesn't matter is totally fucking wrong.

Respectfully disagree. Especially when paired with a young and promoted from within OC in Rees. Freeman is lost on the Offensive side of the ball and Rees sucks and too green. This train wreck was something I saw coming- wish Swarbrick let Freeman pick his own OC at least in this hot mess.
Respectfully disagree?! F that! Anyone who think ma getting Freeman was the right hire needs to get out of the virtue signaling business and realize this is football not politics. We’ve been living in La La land thinking this feel good story was going to hold water. BTW haven’t lost two games like this on one season ever. Marcus lost at home as a 20 point favorite to two 2 win teams with better coaches both coaches of color. We have turned into a joke under Marcus and his stooge Tommy until we are not. 8 wins or season is registered as an official dumpster fire. 8 wins means we get one win against either USC or Clemson. I think we can just forfeit and save us further embarrassment. What other program has made this shitty if a hire in recent memory. Even Willingham had a good first season but no losses that rivaled these shit shows. Hope we aren’t stuck with him last next season. It’s time for to lock down Urban Meyer.

If you want to personally tell off the players who wanted Freeman, then be realistic about what the alternative was. Saban and Meyer were never options.

WTF does that mean?
Saying it doesn't matter who the Fuck NDs coaches are. The program will never top get higher

The degree doesn't do jack shit for ND to win football games.
