Uh yeah, they do. First few rows behind the endzone is garbage when the teams are at the other end. You can see the holes open up, and that's cool, but that's about it. A video board showing live action would allow the entire stadium to be on the same page.
No it wouldn't. That would solve the view for north endzone people with a crappy view of the south endzone, but it wouldn't help south endzone people with a crappy view of the north endzone (as the video board would be behind them). Who sits over there, faculty and freshmen?

I was stuck behind the endzone for Michigan last year, and can concur that the view is non existent when they're on the other side. My conscelation prize was a close up of the 37-0 score board, though.

Glad to see ND is more concerned with the fans comfort than increasing stadium capacity by widening the seating. Two of the games I attended were packed and it was miserable with how close everybody was jammed in together. I would think 18" would be pretty good although I'm not sure what it is currently.

What are they currently, and what will going to 18" due to capacity?

The move to 18" will be a reduction to capacity in and of itself. Combined with the new boxes, I believe the net impact on capacity is assumed to be roughly flat.

Thanks. I think this is a wise move. When I was younger I was all about getting the biggest house possible and jealous of UM's stadium, but people are going to less and less games (although ND fans are staying loyal and strong). I'd rather have 80K every week than 100K for 2 weeks of the year, and have it 20% empty the others.

Although I was at that Stanford game last year with Clashmore, and I'm still not sure how that was sell out. Student section was cut in half it looked like. It was kind of embarassing.

That is where I saw you walking with your sign and I knew... no way that kid was all state.

Are you going to a game this year? I want to make sure and go to the bathroom every time you go. Stand awkwardly close to you in urinal trough...

Well my experience was with the south endzone, so I probably would have turned my head around to look at the screen once ND crossed the 50 lol.

Either way though, it would help at least *some* of the people with a crappy view by showing them what they're missing.

Is it a make-or-break? Not at all. In fact, it wouldn't surprise me if part of the stipulations for having the board are "no live stream of the game."

But if I have a choice of cheap lower bowl/endzone tickets because nobody wants them, or to spend way more for tickets with a view, and I know that I'll be able to catch the action I can't see on the big screen, I'll be more likely to grab the cheap tickets.

Yeah what Wiz said, with widening the seats you'll have to lose some capacity in the bowl but with removing the old press box and gaining a few seats there plus the luxury seats at the top I'd imagine the capacity won't change much. I'm just glad they're not adding the new seating plus keeping the old seating the same in order to bump up capacity.

I cannot believe you didn't stop me to say hi. Yes, just the USC game. I was 2nd team all state man, I'm about 20 LBs lighter now.

And no chance, I go to the stalls regardless of my business.

I guess. I don't know, I always buy my tickets through the lottery so it's face value and whatever section I get assigned. In a bowl I think I'd always prefer to be as high as possible though.

That's weak dude.

Aren't they just widening the bench seating? That should have no effect on capacity and would really just maybe limit some foot space?

Why? I'm a secure guy so I don't have to force awkwardness upon myself to feel like one of the good ole boys.

I always check to see if there are any upper-corners available first, but the cheapest route is usually the endzone corners for those of us that can't get in the lottery (particularly behind the visiting team's band. Sat behind UConn's band in 2009... God help me).

Ha. We had to be pretty close that game as I was right there too.

They're not making the benches longer. They're making the individual seats bigger on benches the same total length. So if you had a 12 foot bench, it had previously sat 9 16" spaces. Now, it'll seat 8 18" spaces.

Alright makes sense, I thought they were adding depth to the bench seating.

Not a front to back increase, it's a side to side increase.

Never been to ND stadium.. Can you actually see TD Jesus from all seats? Thanks

No, most seats you cannot. You need to be on the south side of the stadium and fairly high up.

I admittedly haven't kept up with the actual details of the plan. So how much more of TD Jesus will we be able to see with these renovations?

The changes look like they will be great. I know some are not happy with the modernization of the stadium but I think it's long overdue. Seems like ND stadium has only been "unique" the last 25 years or so as others have added video boards, music, etc... That also happens to coincide with our worst stretch of football.

WTF man. Why does no one tell me they were there? Especially you. PAB.
One game, or two, in which you took your (now past) GF, we tacted but never got together. I only have a 90 min drive. I always end up in later than I want and have barely enough time to visit the bookstore. I've been to like 10 games and have yet to get to see many of the sites. I planned on doing a family trip this last year to the spring game and visit some stuff. Then it was closed to the average Joe.

Slightly more, I believe. The north wall is staying where it is but that scoreboard is coming down.
